I have a fear that Buddy will make a fool of Dougie.
Dougie will help him, of course, by playing loose on him and trying to cut off passes.
However, with our guys putting no pressure on incoming, Buddy will get silver service.
And Buddy will rag doll Dougie- he'll hold him off like a dad holding off an 8 y.o. son

Buddy to get 14 touches for 5 goals

Dougie won’t play on him it will be Wilkie

I mean, very few teams have a natural match-up for Franklin. Max Hudghton was one.

I'd be leaning towards Battle because Howard can't do it and Wilkie is more important in a different role.

Not knocking Franklin he is a star, but his stats this year are poor 9 goals from 8 games average 7 kicks a game, not the threat he was, so maybe playing Battle on him is a good idea leaving Wilkie to play the intercept marker.

Battle isn’t a great defender, but with Franklin looking close to cooked that might not be a bad move.

Wilkie usually gets him because of his agility but with how he's playing we might be able to free Wilkie up.

Yeah Buddy looks pretty heavy on his feet these days. One of his great traits was that powerful burst of speed he had for a guy his size. Not surprising that ain't what is used to be considering how bloody old he is now. 😄 What is he, 36 or something?

He missed a few games earlier in the season and they went with Amartey, Kennedy and MacDonald in various guises to give a little taste of the future. Amartey and McDonald both injured for a bit now so has limited their options up forward. Ladhams injured now too. In fact looking at their injury list it's not really surprising they haven't been performing so well. Missing key players all over the field. From the backline both McCartin's and Dane Rampe, from the forwards Amartey, MacDonald, Reid and now Ladhams (obv more a ruck/forw), and Callum Mills and Luke Parker in the middle. If I think of the equivalent Saints players, well we'd be stuffed too.

This game potentially looks more winnable than most games against Sydney in Sydney in recent memory. Of course we'll be coming off a disastrous performance last game so still many questions about the Saints this year. And if Sydney win all of a sudden they'll be back to 6-6, only one game behind us, season back on track. We win we have a three game buffer over them, quite significant, so a very important away game after a few weeks of subpar performances.

Guys... Bytel is not going to make it and is the opposite of what we need.He has 0 elite attributes.

Windhager on the other hand has got serious agility and power so needs to be given time to get through some growing pains. Needs senior footy in the middle this year.

Might be a case of one step back in the short term, but unlocks a ceiling that Ross/Crouch can't reach
So we don't need an inside bull when Crouch retires? I don't see how Windhager and Bytel even get compared, Ross is keeping Windhager out of the team not Crouch or Bytel.

Owens is the number one player in the comp for contested footy outside of stoppages.

Windhager looks like he’s going to be a good contested player as the seasons go on. He doesn’t have a trouble winning it in tight at VFL level.

Phillipou was also a good contested ball winner in the 18’s and is going to be a big boy once he fills out.

I think a bit of class and pace to go with those 3 guys would be ideal, we seem to have enough contested power coming through.

Pace is numbers 1, 2, and 3 on the list. Class not so much if we cant first get then move the ball.

I don't think we know what Owens and Phillipou will settle as yet. Hopefully they at least become part time mids. Both look like they could have a bit of a Bont type impact.

I see Battle as a pretty good match up for Buddy, he (Bud) isn't a threat in the air so it's basically down to bulk, strength and mongrel and Josh has those areas covered.

A few years back Buddy would have torched him with that quick disengage and burst of speed but it's a different Buddy this year. Not a knock on him, Rooey was the same - once it was time, it was really time.

They’ll probably make fools of each other - both playing poorly
