Begs the question, when do they look at someone like JJ whose been in the system for years and is not going to improve?

I don't think Johnston or Hall could be any worst and at least we can have a look at them.

We can have a look at them at WAFL level.

I think you need to earn your call up. Johnston did off the back of some good form, went back to WAfl and was quiet last week, even though we won.

Culley is building, but probably needs a good game today to demand selection.

Hall is a lot further away then people think.

Burgiel looked great in pre season but hasn’t quite rediscovered the form he had pre-appendicitis.

Watching first 5 minutes of todays game and based off that Hutchison will come in before any of the above mentioned.

People think our kids are ready and they so aren’t ready. At all.

Before jones was recalled Johnson had been better at wafl level and afl level. Thats why Johnston was picked over jones in the first place lol. We then preceded to play Harvey as the sub for two weeks and drop him.

So what you’re saying, is simmo rewarded form in WAFl with an AFL opportunity and plays kids when he thinks they’re ready.

Yes, I agree.

I doubt their role in the WAFL would be as a pressure forward though.

So you think we should keep playing JJ who clearly isn't up to it, instead of giving a kid who might not deserve a call up just yet a chance?

What's the negative in that?
You get some games into a kid and get to have a look at them.

We know what JJ brings to the table and it isn't much.

Does it matter?

The MC has shown they aren’t particularly interested in WAFL form if you aren’t one of the favs.

Of course Trew will be dropped because that’s how we roll but that will just be the Kelly straight swap.

Can’t see a world where any of the current underperforming senior players are dropped to reward a youngster who plays well in the WAFL.
Kelly won't play next week. They will use next week and then the bye to give him the 3 week stretch.

My brother in Christ I beg you to turn over and watch the WAFL.

The same players people are howling about being overlooked by Simmo for the AFL side- , -Hall & Culley-are barely holding their own against midfield of the mighty Perth Demons, the 9th ranked WAFL team.

When they’re racking them up and dominating at WAFL, like Trew or like Erasmus, then we can talk about being hard done by.

You didn't really answer the question though.

I've said one of the kids might not deserve a game just yet but I think it's worth a punt rather than keep playing someone who is clearly not good enough.

That's my point.

No I disagree with the philosophy.

Especially if you’re a bottom team trying to develop kids.

I get it- people want to turn over a new page and see new faces at AFL level, so do I. But Hall, Culley, Dewar,Johnston, Burgiel need to push the likes of JJ, Gaff, Sheed out of the team through form, and at the moment they’re not.

Based in what I’m watching right now Hutchison will come in before any of the above mentioned.

Culley and Burgiel and Johnston the only ones who look remotely close to taking the next step at the moment.

Culley and Burgiel will get a crack soon, and Johnston already has.

Have to agree to disagree then.

Sometimes players need to be dropped regardless of who their replacement is.

Are you watching the WAFL?

Honest question. There’s no way you can hold this view watching our AFL listed players getting beaten by 9th placed wafl team.

And it’s not the top ups.

I could agree with you if young blokes were close but not quite there, our young players aren’t anywhere near it right now. If we had a WAFL reserves team, most would be playing there.

Simmo to reward good WAFL form and play Hutchison next week, maybe instead of JJ.

Just kicked his 3rd goal in a half of footy. Only Beagles goal kicker.

Simmo playing the kids

I don't know how many times I have to say it, but IMO JJ is clearly not AFL quality.
He's been in the system long enough now.

So I wouldn't play him and don't care who his replacement is.
I'd rather we look at someone else than keep playing someone who isn't up to it.

.

Neither are any of the proposed replacements, and in fact on available evidence are worse.

Every player out there playing WAFL being completely shown up by Hutchison atm who was playing country footy 6 months ago and will be in the AFL team before long.

Well we know JJ isn't.

We're not sure about the others unless they're given a chance.

We know the other blokes aren’t up to it atm moment, becuase they’re currently playing the 9th placed Demons and other than Hutchison -who’s been in our footy program for 2 days- Culley is the only one looking like he is anywhere near it.

Kids will play when they deserve it.

Your whole argument will fall over when Hutchison comes straight into the team next week or week after at latest.

We don't know they aren't up to it if they haven't been given a chance.

Culley for JJ should be a no-brainer.

Yep, watching some Wafl today, Culley, Hall, Burgeil, Brockman and Dewar all look up+about. Didn't see much of Hutchinson to comment.

Culley and Hall with 25 & 27 touches at 3 quarter time should at least put them in consideration for an AFL spot in the next few weeks.
As others have said, Johnston was promoted after some good WAFL form but was hardly given an opportunity with only 2 sub appearances.
What's the point of making the kids comprehensively win their place in the AFL over guys like Gaff and Sheed, when we aren't contending and will likely only win 1-2 matches for the year.
Developing our kids for the future will be more beneficial than anything else imo.

You’re clearly just reading off a stat sheet of you think Hall deserves a call up.

Culley has played a good game and will put his hand up after 2 good games in a row as a mid.

Hutchison will be in consideration with 4 goals.

Burgiel played a good game but it’s his first good game in some time and he’d need to strong a few together before being selected.

Playing kids that aren’t ready isn’t a development opportunity, it’s just feeding them to the wolves.

Culley yes please. Hall…eeesh maybe? Worth a look given where we are as a team and list, but doesn’t look like an AFL player ripping apart WAFL with his skills, just finding plenty of it.

Out- Sheed Gaff Jwilliams Yeo

In- Culley Johnston Waterman Dewar

Cripps and Liam can pick up the slack on the wing, give Johnston a half of footy against the worst team in history to show us what he's got. Let Dewar do his thing. Kelly can rest up as can Yeo.

Coming on as sub with 10 minutes to go and the game done is sh!thaus.

Reid to Don't Argue the prosecution, Sling Tackle the judge and walk out with a fine, straight to hungry jacks for a well earned whopper and the prospect of kicking 5 against Norf.
