In Baldwin, Tippa
Out weideman, shiel

their big bodied midfielders and two big forwards are both worrisome for us
bzt has lost form and I think Baldwin at least a bigger frame than laverde
maybe try and pinch hit laverde forward and go back to the future
maybe try and use stringer on Cripps the way Sydney used Heaney
we must try and keep weitering isolated and keep him from impacting contests

stylistically carlton are not a good match up for us at present in my opinion- even though their form is poor
i would avoid rushing wright, Cox or tsatsas in too early

Agreed.

2MP needs a game in the VFL & Cox & Tsatsas would be 3 weeks plus away IMO.

I dunno. I'm a big fan of the tail shouldn't wag the Dog but look how well our playing group responded to our change.
I think it depends on the degree of risk you're ready to introduce when you make change.

We were quite conservative going with a proven coach who had taken a team to multiple finals series and 2 prelim finals all with lesser resources around him than what he'd have at Essendon. Add to that his time spent at the AFL and he's well versed in the politics of the sport.

Carlton took a risk with Voss who had 1 decent season at Brisbane (his first) after which things turned south big time. Yes he swallowed his pride and went back to assistant coaching and did quite well at it, but is that an indication as to how things would turn out when he returned to senior coaching? The start of 2022 looks to have been an extended dead cat bounce before the rot started setting in.

If Carlton can have a safe-ish option to replace Voss then it could be worthwhile as the person will not only need to be able to coach but also navigate the internal political minefield and be able to handle both the internal/external pressure to succeed. If they're going back to the well of untried coaches then results (whether it be win/loss or at least evidence of a playing style emerging) would want to come reasonably quickly otherwise the jungle drums will start beating yet again.

Short of having a Hardwick type walk in I think they're caught between a rock and a hard place.

So that’s why Hardwick pulled the pin halfway through the season …can see that one coming a mile away now…

Not really sure what will go down in this game with the Scum imploding in such spectacular fashion at the moment.

Probably fire and brimstone at first due to said rivalry etc so I hope we're ready for it, then maybe Brad to outcoach Crazy Vossy to a 25-30 point win...

🤷‍♂️
Ill take that.

Hope there's a fight and Sam Weidemann lays someone out.
