You have that wrong. He went back as Carlisle and Robbo were out...and then Austin too.

He was playing in defence in your VFL before those 2 things happened I'm pretty sure.

Either way he can play both ends for you which is handy!

Here’s my team for Maddie’s Match;

FB: J. Webster/S. Savage/ D. McKenzie
HB: J. Battle/J. Carsile/C. Wilkie
C: B. Acres/D. Hannebery/ J. Billings
HF: N. Hind/ J. Bruce/ D. Kent
FF: M. Parker/T. Membery/ J. Gresham
Fol: S. Ross/L. Dustan/R. Marshall
Bch: H. Clark/ J. Newes/ J. Sinclair/ B. White
Emer: B. Paton/R. Young/ N. Brown/ J. Marsh

Ins: Webster, White
Outs: Marsh, Armo

Webster is in the best 22 any week, (there is a chance he doesn’t get up this week, in which case Marsh plays if Paton is already selected).

White comes in as he played a good game against the suns and deserves another go this week, (if he doesn’t get up due to injury Paton plays unless he has already been selected due to Webster injury in which case Marsh plays).

Armo poor on the weekend and it is time to send him back to the VFL. Marsh also rated the least influential player on the ground and has been poor for a number of weeks now.

I have left both Battle and Carsile back to stretch their forwards with only Lynch down there for them as a tall.

It does leave our talls in trouble in the forward line as we would only have two talls in Membrey and Bruce, but to win the game we need to stretch their forward line.

I think we look too slow down back this week. Richmond base their whole game around the smalls.

Lynch and Caddy as roaming targets, but quick ball movement and bring the ball to the ground.

Lynch will have a field day on Carlile imo, Snake isn't great on lead up types. Battle not bad for Caddy.

Short, Castanga, Higgins & Rioli all worry me a lot. Then when Martin rests down forward, not sure who can man him.

So, Kent looks like he's out.

So here is what I would do:

- Move Battle forward. Leave him there for the duration of the match unless injuries necessitate something else.
- Replace Battle in the backline rotation with White.
- Replace Armitage with Coffield.
- Replace Newnes with Paton.

McKenzie Wilkie Marsh
Savage Carlisle White
Billings Hannebury Paton
Membrey Battle Parker
Hind Bruce Gresham
Marshall Ross Dunstan
Coffield Sinclair Acres Clark

THIS STATISTICAL COMPARISON SUGGESTS THAT THERE ISNT THAT MUCH BETWEEN THE SIDES.

I did note however, that one of our least attractive qualities at the moment without our only representative in the top 80 players in the league in (Tackles Inside 50), that player being Jack LONIE at No. 15. ....... our next player comes in at about 87 oh there might be long at 67...anyway Brisbane Lions have 2 in the top 5 tackles inside 50 in the league and ten in the top 80.
Why dont we have a focus on tackles inside 50 .....it changes the complexion of the game very quickly...tackles generally not so much as loosing sidew under pressure tend to try and tackle more as they are always chasing their opponent as they have the ball more often, probably because we have lost a recent contested possession ha!..... but inside 50 tackles are pretty telling and impressive. Just a thought. Surely there are SAINTS players that can put their hands up.>>>>Maybe its not that important, I DONT KNOW...but its pretty piss poor that we cant get more than one guy in the top 80....I LOOK FORWARD TO LONIE'S RETURN. i BELIEVE WE CAN WIN THIS AND WE ARE DUE FOR THAT AMAZING FACILITY SAINTS TEAMS TEND TO HAVE AND THAT IS UNCHARACTERISTICALLY BLOW YOU AWAY WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT AND IN GENERAL NOT THAT OFTEN. BUT...... i CAN SEE US GETTING IT DONE.!!!!!!!!!

Was down at training. Kent went down out of nowhere. Was in a lot of pain and couldn't put any weight through his leg.

Steele did full training and did match sim in the 'A' group. Expect him back in this week.

Stuv and Lonie both did full training, including match sim. Stuv was running well and looked at his regular fitness level. Him and Hanners were combining well in a lot of the drills. When we get him back, we will instantly be a better side. He didn't look too far away, but who knows what fitness bar he needs to reach. Lonie was moving well and further along than expected. He looks like he could play VFL this week but he may be a week away from doing that.

Webster only ran laps and looked uncomfortable the whole time. Roberton was also running laps - looks as if he is serious about trying again next year.

Mckenzie has a serious leap on him - it would be good at actually see it in games. Coffield's zip and pace stood out - seems to be taking the game on again even if it is only just training.

Judging by the teams in match sim - In: Steele, Paton, Long Out: Marsh, Armo and potentially Newnes but he could have been saved by Kent going down.
White and Paton were both lining up on the wing. Billings was starting in the middle. Carlisle and Battle both down back.

Overall, the group trained pretty well. Very energetic and vocal which was good. I'm sensing a competitive for 3 quarters then fall away in the last effort coming on.

Unfortunately he was pinpointing the ball on blokes chests in pre season off half back too, was extremely
impressive against Bulldogs in JLT as was Marshall both not selected round 1.

Was talking to other Stkilda guys post the Sandringham vs Box Hill Hawks game said he was outstanding.

Thought he tried too hard to stand out in more recent games at Sandringham not doing team stuff, prior
to selection against Gold Coast .

For those interested in training Richardson took total control today , something I have not witnessed
all year , vibe of players really good , body language and involvement of proceedings by assistant
coaches less so take that watch you will.
I reckon the players know Richo's coaching like the back of their hand by now so reverting to his game plan is like putting on your favourite old slippers. Might even get some results with the tried and tested Saints Footy

When one of the smartarse assistant coaches try to switch things up, it usually ends up in confusion and failure. Think Kingsley last year. We do obviously need to change, but there will be a transition period where the players struggle to play the new plays in sync with each other. Right now we're balls deep into a transition period.

Like if you got a small town marching band that had only been playing Advance Australia Fair on repeat for the last 10 years and gave them the sheet music to Bohemian Rhapsody.

Tks for the update Brut - Steele coming in would be a massive boost - I only expect Hannebery and Carlisle to get better with more game time - Steven could easily fill Kents position while he gets match fitness.

Would love to see Steele , Steven , White , Coffield , Paton play this week.

outs would be Armitage , Kent , Newnes , Marsh

McKenzie - Wilkie - Savage
White - Carlisle - Battle
Sinclair - Steele - Hannebery
Steven / Paton - Bruce - Hind
Gresham - Membery - Parker

Marshall - Ross - Billings

Hunter Clark / Coffield / Dunstan /Acres

Thanks for the detailed report.

Great to hear Steele, Lonie and Stuv trained well. God knows if we’re any chance of winning this week, we need them in.

Hopefully Kent going down doesn’t give Newnes another shot. The bloke’s cooked and needs a spell in the 2’s. Would much rather to see Liquorlands get a crack.

The difference is between the ears.

He looked decent today. Was starting in the centre instead of out on the wing. Looked good in some drills but still runs himself into trouble at times. I'd be surprised if he is in this week, especially with the presumption Steele is back, but certainly is improving.
Couldnt get himself into any more trouble than our current piss poor midfield
