Culley had one clearance and six contested possessions while playing the majority of his game in the middle. Not up to it at this level
That was from 9 centre bounce attendences in his first game back from an ACL in a disfunctional midfield. Ginbey had 1 clearance and 5 CP from 13 CBAs, guess he isnt up to it either?

Whole team was poor yesterday, you can't judge Culley based on that

Out: Sheed, Gaff, H.Edwards (team balance)

In: Kelly, Hunt, Maric

Maric to start

Maric and Hunt to share wing/HB duties. Both can be line breakers... Hunt with run and Maric with kicking skills.
We just lost to North Melbourne at home. Let that sink in. There is no timeline here where Sheed and Gaff should be in the side - if they weren't able to lift us to win against Norf then they are never going to be able to do it. Literally no point to their selection.

Oh but Sheed tagged Oliver to 27 disposals that time did he? Great news.

In: Brockman, Kelly, Hunt, Dewar
Out: Hutchinson, Sheed, Gaff, Edwards

B: Hough Barrass Witherden
HB: Maric McGovern Duggan
C: Chesser, Yeo, Hunt
HF: Brockman, Waterman, Cripps
FF: Ryan, Darling, Williams

R: Flynn, Kelly, Ginbey

I/C: Dewar, Petruccelle, Cole, Culley

S: Jones
Came to post something very similar to this. Would love to see Maric trialed at HB, or possibly rotating with Hunt on the wing. Would prefer him to be using the ball rather than the one kicking goals... we have plenty of other tall forwards who should be able to do that.

Maric bullet pass in the last quarter was awesome

I wouldn't use maric at HB.....the high half forward to wing role ...is what I would look like for Ryan

He hardly touched the ball and didn't use his height yesterday and then Maric came on for him the last qtr. I wasn't sorry to see him go.
What I was sorry about was the Hutchinson was involved in that really nasty collision when Duggan went down and then he just walked away. He was one of the few team mates who didn't come over to give Duggan a pat on the back and even a NM player or 2 did. That is not the way to be a good team mate, not the way to impress your captain and having been nowhere near the ball for 4 qtrs not the way to cement a place in the side.

I actually agree with this.
But what was great was to see Yeo crouching down holding his hand for quite a while. There was a lot of concern there.

I like Culley and want to see him play out the season.
But I fear he really wants to be a hard inside type player but he just doesn’t have that edge. You can see him go into contact and at that last moment just goes a bit passive like he doesn’t want to cop the hard contact. Harsh call but that’s what I see. He’s not a bull.
He won’t make it as a mid - forward is his only hope.

Written like someone who has never done an ACL

Didn’t know that we knew each other Seadog!
Take your point but my observation stands pre ACL also. If you think he’s gonna make it as that in and under player that’s your opinion.
I’ve coached enough kids over 30 years in rugby and I back my judgement seeing people go into contact.
As I said - I like him and think he’s got some good attributes and would persevere but he’s not gonna make it as an inside mid imo.
And for what it’s worth - no ACL but I had MCL surgery and was never the same.

Sheed -> Kelly
JJ -> Brockman
Hutch -> Hunt

If Duggan takes too long to recover from concussion, then keep JJ for 1 more, play Hunt in his role.
If Kelly doesnt get up then Sheed gets 1 more.
H.Edwards to stay in the side for the tall Bombers backline
Oscar to the WAFL for 1 week

Nothing too crazy

Number 1 - It is time for Simpson to go. It is also time to get rid of the old and slow plodders in positions that younger men, can play now and who will be worth it in the long run.

2 - Eagles have the bye in both AFL & WAFL. Duggan will be fine for round 15 vs Essendon.

3 - Now Round 15, Kelly, Hunt & Allen in. Round 16 Reid in, Round 17 Hewett in.

4 Richmond are about win a few games, all of a sudden they get back Taranto, Prestia, Bolton, Martin and Tom Lynch. Should see Eagles finish with Pick 2. Not too many winnable games from here.

Looking at these points above and playing a team to go forward with.

In's Kelly, Hunt, Allen, Hall, J Williams

Outs H Edwards, Sheed, Gaff, Darling, B Williams.

Hough Barrass Witherden
Hunt Gov Duggan
Hutchinson Kelly Petruccelle
Culley Allen Cripps
Ryan Waterman Hall

Flynn Ginbey Yeo

Cole, Maric[Half Back] Chesser, J Williams [2nd Ruck/Fwd]

Sub J Jones.

Allen, Waterman, J Williams, J Culley and Hutchinson is enough marking targets up fwd.
J Williams will play the 2nd Ruck Fwd role better than B Williams.

I like Maric but J Williams plays that 2nd Ruck Role better. We have to fit Harley Reid and E Hewett into the Fwd/Mid rotation in the following 2 weeks after round 15. Hutchinson and Culley are the Hybrid roles both can play like Mihocek.

Out of the team i have named above i am removing Jones and Maric to get Reid and Hewett in.

3rd last and we're playing too many 30+ year olds lol...this club has no idea, Cripps, Darling, Gaff etc...this is when your meant to be pumping games into young players

I'd 100% take Culley doing Sheeds dumb tagger role instead of Sheed. He might actually clamp someone like a tagger should.

Sheed and Gaff are legitimately the 2 most pointless selections going around at the moment.

Are we rebuilding or are we folding? Pick one Simpson.

OUT: Sheed, Gaff, Jones, Hutchinson
IN: Kelly, Hunt, Burgiel, Dewar.

Maric into the best 22 on the wing or defense.

Burgiel Sub.

Cully, only one game back into the AFL after a year out ACL. WAFL isn't the same pace. I hope the Eagles persist with Cully. Perhaps a defensive forward. Time to give him an extended run to see what he can be.

Time to drop Sheed for good.

We are too tall and too slow, and the opposition are waltzing around and through us at their leisure. I will welcome any change that increases our mobility. But I'm unsure that our potential WAFL replacements are actually in form.

Dewar has some kind of smoothness about him but does he have the ball winning fight?

Ess will run circles around us.

Martin will get 40+ possies and there will be the usual comments of how we could've had him etc

clockwork
