AFL Autopsy Round 15 vs St Kilda

Everyone who is saying Hooker is slow is pretty harsh.

He actually ran Riewoldt down last night and forced him to kick a grubber off the side of the boot that somehow managed to bounce 15m through for a goal. Don't underestimate how much Riewoldt would have been running Hooker before that as well.

Yes, Riewoldt blew Hooker up, but we can now add Hooker to the list of defenders that a 100% fit Riewoldt has blown up, everyone one he has played on. Even during the Geelong/St Kilda peak Harry Taylor would regularly swap with Lonergan to have a rest. Expecting Hooker to go with him all game is stupidity, and gifting his biggest advantage. This was poor team selection, blame the coaches not Hooker.

Anyone getting stuck into Hooker and saying he has been terrible this year knows little about football, has been a top 3 or 4 CHB in the comp.

I don't know. He didn't seem to be able to keep up at any stage of the night.

I will admit to living in hope that, with a full season under his belt (and confidence in his hammies), the Weapon is going to put Hooker through a world's worth of sprint training in the 2013 preseason. Cale never had any problems keeping up with Riewoldt or Franklin when they were on the lead.

I got nothing. What a ****ing shit performance.

I haven't been that angry after a game since the Port loss under Knights. ****ing useless. Did anyone actually win their position?

When is the VFL on? Pray to god Gumbles has a good one.

Anyone wanna guess at how long Hurley will be out? Their saying one week. That's 2.6 weeks by Kong's accurate formula, but I'm going to take a guess it'll end up a 2 week injury, thus meaning he's gone 5. Sounds about right.

**** everything

I think the TRB should show some hawthorn games to the players during the week.

Their gamestyle should be our plan B. Remember that game last year where they flogged us by 10 goals at the G? All they did was pretty much use the wide space, chip it around and than deliver to a leading forward in their 50. If we cant play fast flowing football we must retain possession and pick our way through opposition teams. The problem is last night for example, we had our chance to keep possession but for some reason we would either 1) hand ball it for no reason 2) play on for no reason 3) give it to hille, hardingham, hooker who would just boot the ball at all costs.

I like this because you've obviously been waiting all year (for the genuine defeat to finally come) to get on here and can Hooker. It is great that you've chosen to make your move on a night where the defenders were put to the sword by the rest of the side. Did you notice that Fletcher played his worst game in recent memory? Hardingham and Hibberd were both also well below par.

You'd have to be ******* kidding about everything you have said except for the fact that Hooker was finally poor last night and he was disturbingly slow.

I haven't been waiting all season to get on here and bag Hooker. I think he has had a decent season up until around 5 weeks ago when his performances have started to slide IMO. Last night was a climax of my frustration in him and I had to express my concern. No doubt the whole team had a shocker, but Hooker had an absolute howler and it has been coming for weeks. I think he is a decent player when he doesn't zone off his opponent, but his deficiencies are fast becoming a liability to the side.

Hooker you're too slow! You should have run down Riewoldt's kick and touched it on the line!

- Don't think I saw a section of the game where we were actually on top.

The opening 2 or 3 minutes.

Convert some of those early chances and the story might have been slightly different. Or we might just have stayed in it for a bit longer.

I'm calling it out: Heppell's defensive running is not up to scratch, along with Jobe's and Hille's. I'm not taking cheap pot shots or sinking the boots in, but every player has the responsibility to chase hard and get into position, and Heppell can be particularly lazy in this regard. Even Melksham's defensive running is better.

Dare i say it is it time to bring back good ol' mark mcveigh to do the tagging job when we play the hawks, cats and crows? Reckon we could of used some old heads last night in midfield.

If you're going to blame anyone for that goal, how about instead of getting out the pitchforks and calling for Hooker's head, we instead blame the person who let Montagna get 10m of free space at a stoppage in our F50 to then kick it 60m+ under no pressure.

Can you stop trying to back hooker up and admit he had a shocker.

Sorry, looks like the evidence from the game isn't agreeing with the whining masses on here. Hooker is the easy scapegoat when we have been thrashed by 80 points. Yes, he had an average game, but a few on here are being a bit ridiculous.

Amazing how Hille can be judged so harshly by preconceived notions.
Or how he can survive on a reputation he had years ago. He has regressed massively the last 1.5 years. His ruck work is abysmal and constantly palms it down onto the tit of opposition players and sends them the other way or he just gets no where near it, at best he breaks even with that because of the goals he kicks and his good contested marking but imo in a vacuum he's a net negative as a combo player. He wont get dropped and I accept that so I'm not going to wave my arms around and say he should be dropped, especially because of current injuries hes a must. But shit, him being there is supposed to mean Ryder does the majority of the rucking which just isn't happening.

Dat prime position.

Hooker! You should have used your mind power to stop Riewdolt jumping and getting his hand to the ball before it touched your hands! Hooker you're shit!
doesn't hurt when the umpires actually apply the correct interpretation of the game too, given Riewoldt had **** all eyes for the ball. I couldn't believe they didn't pay that one

I could. A pretty ordinary display from the umpires, I thought.

Not that it had any impact whatsoever on the game.

maybe he should have spoiled the contest and not taken a chance that he would be flat footed going for a 60-40 mark.

no, it never does. But it was still shit hey. I couldn't believe some Saints supporters saying we were getting the rub of the green. ****ing excuse me? We were flogged by them.
