We did win you know,
and kicked 16 goals on a rotten, shitty afternoon for footy.

And you reckon 4 blokes should be dropped?

One was injured, one was suspended so understandable why they come straight back in.

I think only one of the other two will come back (Scotland), but would not be dissapointed to see both - 4 changes to a winning side seems excessive, but that is why Ratts needs to stop making just 1 change to winning sides and 4+ to losing sides - it needs to occur more subtle so we dont have to make changes such as this. As it is though, those selections are close to being spot on for me...

How the hell can you bring in four players and promote Stevens and Scotland after we won?

And drop Garlett.

Wake up!

The two veterans shouldn't be promoted until they work hard off the ball like Bentley, Garlett, Carrazzo, Betts and Russell.

Bentley laid six tackles yesterday.

Garlett was on the ground for just 56% of the time.

A player with Garlett's pace, defensive pressure and fresh legs sitting on the bench is invaluable to a slow side. I haven't seen a Carlton player burn off a tall like Garlett since Camporeale was at his peak.

Johnson was good yesterday.

Ratten is doing the right by putting not picking the veterans until they learn to work harder and chase. Hopefully the side winning without them makes Scotland and Stevens hungrier and more determined to get back.

We know that Waite and Walker would give anything to be out there. :thumbsu:

Scotland and Stevens will be fresh and valuable players if we make the finals.

They have finals experience, but they need to learn to not coast and chase kicks.

Houlihan is just going through the motions and deserves to get dropped ahead of Bentley.

Houlihan is giving us **** all at the moment.

Bring in Robinson or Yarran for Houlihan in the next month if they're in form and working hard.

Walker should take Houlihan's spot eventually.

My problem with Garlett is he is so unwilling to put his body on the line. I know he is slight of frame but not willing to risk a hit, cannot hold onto a tackle and makes too many errors. Robbo and Yarran can do as well and Scotland, Hoops, Austin, and even Stevo are more potent in front of goals

Give Hartlett and Anderson second goes

In: O'Hailpin

Out:Fisher

possibly Bentley for Scotland but Heath deserves a recall but Bentley had a bigger effort today than any match Scotto has played this year

Then they need to start giving him more game time, or give someone else a go. Yeah its great he has pace, but if he needs to rest for half the game for it to be effective, or if thats all we're prepared to play him for then whats the point...

He isn't offering a whole lot other than his percieved defensive pressure which to be honest isnt worth much when he can barely stick a tackle or isnt kicking goals...

His last 3 games has produced a total of: 18 possesions, 3 tackles, 2 goals. That just aint good enough.

Tried to do the changes but can't this week, so a rough possible:

IN - Scotland, Setanta, Austin, Yarran
OUT - Gartlett, Fisher, Bentley, Anderson

A bit tough on Anderson, and I'd prefer to keep it to 3 changes, as well as giving Anderson at least 2 games. All things considered though, I prefer Scotland and never thought his omission was really justified so...

I'd probably like to see a combination of 3 of those 4 changes - if Scotland doesn't come in then I think its time to give Yarran another shot. Gartlett is offering next to nothing so at worse we barely lose with that change.

EDIT: I thought Fish was really good for us last week, and thought Bentley and Anderson didn't play bad games this week. Gartlett from memory might have got a few handballs off for shots at goal, and did hold the ball up by causing throw ins etc. Fact is though, if we have better players out there (which we do) they need to be playing. I don't like suggesting 3/4 changes, but I'm advocating Ratten to make more than 1 change when we have an unimpressive win so we don't have to...

OK, I've said this a couple of times but no one appears to be taking notice...

IF Walks and Knocks play Bullants this week, Garlett and Bentley are automatic outs are they not?

Did anyone sit or stand behind the goals at the Southern Stand at the game ???

If you did, you would know what I'm talking with regards to Hartlett's decision making and 'costly' turnovers ...

That's the problem with Hartlett, is that he just has not good 'nous' or 'decision making' and I am sorry to say it, but there is an reason why he has spent most of the year down at Preston...

You cannot afford to have defenders turn the ball over constantly, and give away cheap goals, and that is why Harlett will probably be dropped this week IMHO.

Were you happy with the win yesterday were you? Do you honestly think we played good footy?

Changes need to be made, starting with Fisher and Bentley.

First quarter yesterday - Bentley could have ran into an open goal but what does he do? Looks for Fev, balls turned over and no goal scored. This isn't the first time. He is no good. His disposal is lousy and he's slow.

Fish constantly goes to ground, he doesn't use the ball well and he's slow.

Stevens and Scotland are both in our best 22 ahead of these guys. Actually, they are ahead of most guys. Agreed they haven't been in the best of form but not bringing them back in against Richmond hurts us moreso because the Ants had a bye.

I like Garlett don't get me wrong but he is very light and probably needs more time in the gym. Gets pushed off the ball too easily and makes costly decisions under pressure.

I'd like to see Aussie come back straight away because he is developing nicely and the more games we get under his belt the better.

Carlos should come back in as well.

Just interested in who you would put on ROK?

Well Austin's back from suspension next week, he has to come 'straight' in surely, esp after Hartlett's less then impressive performance down back yesterday ...

Watched the replay last night, and Hartlett was ok c_p. He does give us another option, I wouldn't drop him for next weeks game.

Regarding ROK:
You wouldnt think Jospeh would go on himas Okeefe would dominant him in the air.
As Okeefe is playing on the ball now there is a chance Carrazzo may have a run with role with him. Only other thing would be a head to head with a murphy or grigg.

Grigg would be the matchup for mine, but because ROK runs so much, i'd say we need to play a couple of opponents on him. I'd also like to see JR given a go on him as well.

Goodes is another player we'll need to keep in check.

It will be a match with quite a few run with roles. Gibbs will play on Goodes and i htink at any time 2 of the 3 midfielders in the sqare will be doing a run with role. I think ratten needs to be able to isolate a murphy or a player of the like . let him run free, leaving hopefully bolton or kirk by themsellves and back in murphy to cause more damage.

ROK - Carrazzo and Grigg alternating
O'Loughlin - Jamison, did a good job last time in 2008
Goodes - Gibbs, has proven a great matchup for us
Veszpremi - AJ

We will need to block pretty hard for Judd to get away from the stoppages, and help him out against McVeigh.

JR given a role in the middle again. He is hard at the ball and breaks lines - need that against the Swans.

I say leave him in to get the experience and learn from his errors as we need to develop another defender, short term loss for long term gain hopefully. Have you noticed the amount of goals that Jamison, Bower and Austin have given away recently and i dont hear many wanting those dropped!

According to the game stats Hartlett had 71% Disposal Efficiency. For the record I thought he muffed a couple more than that but the conditions were less than idea for accurate kicking to say the least.

I thought Fisher was a lot worse and offered very little, no defensive pressure, goes to ground all the time and a rubbish kick every time!

3 changes at most.

Out: Fisher, Houla, Anderson
In: Setanta, Austin, Scottland

Setanta: CHF
Austin: defence and Hartlett forward
Scottland: defence
