Scratchy start, Darcy particularly early looked off. IQ as well but warmed to the task as the game went on.
showed some Pie power and drifted off late but banked another W.
God help everyone when we hit our straps for the full game.

Thought IQ destroyed Weightman after the first quarter.....

Darcy Cameron 35 hit outs vs Tim English 30 hit outs. Not bad by Darcy

We kicked 12 out of 14 goals at one stage. Why are people surprised there was a fade out late in the game?

We were brilliant in that 3rd quarter in particular. I guess when the opposition come at us, like the Doggies did on the last 10 minutes, we made a few errors, but it did seem that fatigue was setting in....

This fixture to me, pretty much every year, is one of those 'hurdle' type ones where, as a supporter, the ultimate goal is always 'Just secure the points!".

Marvel is a mini fortress for Dogs and it's once in a blue moon that they're safely held there. I thought we were absolutely sh*t hot in the third quarter, playing some of our very best footy granting us that big lead, sadly we gradually petered out and the scoreline in the end probably reflects the game somewhat fairly as a whole. You can't flog everyone, eh? And this fixture was never likely to be one.

No words really needed for Nick or Pendles at this point, but shoutout to Jack Crisp who played his best game for the year, we'll have more of that please Crispy!

Came to this thread to pay respects to the man.

Watched the game on TV (because FU Telstradome/Etihad/Marvel Stadium)... and it was obvious how much on-field coaching he does. It's an advantage other teams don't enjoy and I'm sure it has accelerated Nick's development.

I suspect he has a basketball background.

That was a good win in the end.Playing on a ground we clearly don’t like playing with some important players out. It’s also amazing to think we could win that game basically without any key forwards.I don’t think many sides could do that.

And Nick Daicos. What can you say?He just seems to get better each week, which must be very scary for the rest of the competition.

It looked like we were trying a few different things in the last quarter when the game was already in the bag.
It will add to the end game techniques we can use.
If we are playing the GF and the oppo team is coming at us we need to know what to do.
We're already well practised at coming from behind, so it's good to practise winning from in front.
That said, I don't think we did it particularly well tonight, so there will be some lessons learned from it.

The Dogs were good, got a fast start and would be ruing some missed opportunities on goal when they had the momentum.

We clearly thought we were having another training run like last week until reality hit.

Given we were without 4 players who would feature in the coaches best 22 and 2 are tall forwards it was a great effort to recover from the position we found ourselves in.

If we leave this game with one area of concern it's that the combination of Naugton, JUH and Weightman finished with 10.7 between them and that's the kind of forward level talent we can expect to face come September.

In the article on the AFL website, it was mentioned how Pendles handled a tag, by trying to create a 2 on 1 to benefit the team.
We've heard the same from Nick this year, so it's great to see Pendles pass the baton to the next GOAT.
Having Pendles around has to be a major reason why Nick seems to have learnt so much so quickly (apart from what he has learnt from his dad).
