I think Misson said last week that Higgins was only a one weeker. I wouldn't be surprised if Hill is out longer though especially if it's a medial?
Membrey was supposed to be one week too initially. So who knows?

On recent form Carlton will smash us
They looked good yesterday

as "ordinary" as Marshall may be as a forward, I think he might be a substantially better option than Sharman.

"Without him we dont get near the opportunities we had forward."

I took that to mean you thought we needed him him more in the ruck because we need as any opportunities inside 50 as we can get.

Again the issue is not whether Marshall is an ordinary forward, its whether he maybe the best option given our lack of available choices.

I'd be happy to play King Cordy or even Battle but none of them are available and as "ordinary" as Marshall may be as a forward, I think he might be a substantially better option than Sharman.
Marshall will need to have his Witts about him this week. Hopefully he can repeat Saturday's great effort.

With regard to a key forward it's imperative whoever is picked is prepared to contest every high ball.

Keeler won't play
Bit early for that

Big Jack H would be a bit under done coming straight in but i think he may get named.

It's interesting how it's turned out, no King again like the start of the season
Exciting times ahead - yes King is a big loss but we are finally starting to get some players come back and Steele has found form which is massive going forward.
Having players like Jones , Billings , Clark , Hayes back in the line up is going to strengthen us add on Hill , Battle and Higgins back this week we will be just about full strength / the only players really missing will be King , Coffield and Membery.

The next 4 games are really beatable teams and there is no reason after these 4 games the 5th game against Carlton should be a win , but then again we were lucky to get past WCE.

Who ever we pick, they certainly won't be a "key" forward.

Yep - thats exactly why we are talking about structures for next weeks game when King and Cordy will not be available.

Playing Sharman alongside Caminiti as a key tall will make it easier for GC's defensive interceptors.

So are there any other options?
Get better kicks in the midfield

They are now getting in some ground work in on North for the week after
North got hammered in the media in the week leading up to our game against them earlier in the year as well. Resulted in them having a big crack and playing a very defensive gameplan that really shut them game down.

It would almost seem strange and hollow if our opposition don't get a whack from the media pre game now. It's apart of the weekly routine.

Either that or it’s a big milestone game for the other team. Don’t remember the last time we got a team who didn’t show up to play against us. Which I guess is also largely what happens when you’re in the top 5. No-one takes you lightly.

We have the dreaded combination of being in the top 8 as we near the pointy end of the season, which means teams look at us a little more closely, yet are also seen as gettable and beatable by every team around and below us due to the fact of not being very good.

At least we are well tested and been able to compete against the oppositions best. But it would be nice to play against someone who hasn't turned up at least once.

Absolutely loved the effort we put in last week.
Unfortunately effort doesn’t get you the 4 points.
Even with the same effort this week I’ve gotta say I’m not supremely confident.
Last time we played them they didn’t have Witts and he will make a big difference and absolutely monster Marshall.
With Witts giving Rowell and Anderson first look and Ballard and Collins playing the defensive intercept role on top of being on their home patch and their dangerous forwards i’m worried we will try hard and not quite get the chocolates.
Hope I’m wrong. Go you mighty sainters keep pushing for September.

I don't think having Campbell would have made one ounce of difference. There's a reason he's in his thirties and has 50 games to his name. He's a genuine back up ruck.

We lost 3 players in the first qtr and had as many shots at goal as a top 4 side.

Take Marshall out of the ruck, Campbell may get a couple of extra taps but we also wouldn't have Marshall with 30 touches, 18 contested, 8 clearances.

Marshall is an average forward.
Almost agree entirely, except that Marshall is actually a below average forward. They have never worked on his leading patterns and forward craft. So hence he mainly just pushes forward, or tries to take pack marks.

I am sure he could be a better forward than he is, but the club just has not developed or honed his forward craft.
