What do we do with Taylor ? That performance doesn't deserve a match for the rest of the year. Who can we bring in next week that is on the list and isn't injured ?

Dunno what Melbourne are offering but would straight swap to the Bombers for Hibberd if he's as disgruntled as reputed.

generally pleased needs to be turned into a meme. Unfortunately I'm not sure enough people care or are interested enough to give it significant traction.

Reading Leppa's comments in the presser on Twitter, excuse factory appears to be in full swing, just give it a rest already. We don't want to hear it.

Meh. Has to front up and say something at these pressers. It's consistent messaging at least. "We were shit and this happens when you're young."

He's certainly not going to convince anyone that was already wavering, but I can't hammer him for sticking to his own message. Criticise his coaching, not the forced fluff they have to pitch to the media.

You just don't give up do you! What is the guy meant to say?

After what Hibberd has been through recently, I wouldn't suggest a dose of Brisbane Lions styled - professional torture, would be high on his bucket list.

And we won't have a plethora of gun senior and assistant coaches lining up for the same reason. We have many problems, and no easy fixes.

I dont understand why people think Smith was one of our best. Yeah he had a good individual performance but he got monstererd by Trengove and wasn't running hard enough with him. He did have a really good debut tho if you dont account for his opponent.
Cause we need hope

The we are a young team thing again.. Although I can excuse them for being young we cannot tackle, skills are poor, seem to have no defensive skills and no gameplan.
I really think AFL should fine the bombers for tanking last week :)

I'm on Tapatalk so haven't voted yet, but you know how it'll go.

Most clearances, most contested possessions and 5 tackles is not bad for a ruckman, and it's a terrible indictment on the rest of the team.

Hopefully one day he'll outrun Rioli constantly and shoot piercing handballs around the ground to impress dlanod.

Well done to Archie, who put in a solid effort aeound his injury. Clearly he was always going to be beaten for strength but he won his share of ball and did OK with it.

After such a positive start I had hopes we would continue to be competetive and keep the margin down. By 16mins if the second quarter I thought we had blown it and were heading for a ten goal loss. 30 minutes later I was caressing every lucky talisman I own* in the hope that we could keep it under 100 points. And we did! Result!

Regardless of individual performances, one thing that irked me tonight was that we had 18 kids running after the ball the whole time. Which meant that when we inevitably turned it over, Port had 2-3 free players just waiting for the opportunity to miss and easy goal to the left. I think we do have some dumb footballers in the ranks but what does this say about the coaching? Surely when you're getting beaten so badly, the first thing to do is go man on man and stem the tide, then work out how to get the ball forward? We just continued with the same schoolboy football for the entire game, presumably in some misguided belief that God / Allah / Donald Trump would wave his magic wand and turn us into Hawthorn.

* Metaphorically speaking

I heard Leppa saying there were only about six left to play in the reserves. Thought it was a joke but.....

Ollie Wines is an absolute beast of a kid though. He is still only young but gee he is thick in the legs. I reckon Robbie Gray broke out of as many tackles as I've seen by a player in one game. It really was embarrassing how often they busted through our attempts of a tackle.

I think it was pretty disappointing to hear leppa apparently say (going off the twitter quotes) that Rocky and the senior guys were committed to doing the team thing while the younger guys were looking out for themselves so they can get another game, considering the performance of the senior guys this week.

Robbie Gray really is a gun isn't he? I have him up there with the likes of Fyfe, Dangerfield and Pendlebury. Not quite as dominant but just a really good footballer.

The messaging has shifted significantly as the loses have gotten worse. I just saw mentions of Bell making a difference, having bad luck and a bunch of other stuff - got no problem with the usual excuse factory stuff.. most of it is fair, just can't be bothered with the reaching for and re-hashing specifics tonight.

Two years ago, the Mozzy Squad had spark. They had really quick first steps, closing speed, brilliant anticipation and moved the ball quickly.

Zorko is still a very good player so I'll leave him out but Green and Taylor are shadows of their former selves. They are slow moving and slow of mind. Taylor has no acceleration at all and Green isn't much better. Because of that, their weaknesses are so much more obvious. But forgetting the weaknesses for a moment, where has all the speed, evasiveness and anticipation gone?
