Mal has been fine since he came back into the side imo.

Never said he wasn't fine. At all times I have said it was either harsh of me to have that opinion or close between them.

I just prefer Armstrong for a number of reasons.

SM just likes to focus on that one thing though. The lad has a bee in his bonnet when anyone dares to hold opinions contrary to his own so I just like to remind him of it. It is hilarious to see him go back to it all the time. Dog and bones and what not.

I will also let you in on secret if you keep it from SM. Mal is a favourite of mine. A real favourite.I have one Swans jumper - his. But don't tell SM as I said. It would spoil all his fun (and mine) when he starts on the why do I hate Mal crap after having comprehension issues when he reads my (and others) posts.

seems we have 3 Forwards worthy of a call up accourding to Crouch.

"In the past three matches, Mitch Morton, Matt Spangher and Tommy Walsh have combined for 36 goals, including last weekend’s win over the Hills Eagles where they kicked 17 between them."

i wouldn't mind giving Spangher a crack just before finals if they can find a spot for him. either TDL or one of Mal/Armstrong. my preference would be to keep Armstrong.

He has been better than fine in an all round aspect.
Nobody could ever question his kicking ability (when in form) but his endeavor to tackle, chase and spoil have been the best of his career. He has never been great at defending in the past, but has really stepped up since he returned from the 2nds.

I think that Armstrong is a better kick in the sense he is more creative and can find players in only a little space, whereas Malceski has more power in his kicking and can be deadly accurate (more in straight lines so to speak). I really like Armstrong and think he has a big future with the club, but it is hard to find a spot in the team for him at the moment.

Geeze, my tongue was firmly in my cheek. Sorry I didn't include the winky face on the end for your benefit.

Funnily enough when people have a go at me for knocking Grundy I always use the defence that I love him as a player and have a soft spot for him too.

The difference, then, is obvious and not funny at all.

I haven't knocked Mal and don't feel the need to require a defence.

Out Mal, TDL
In Reid and ohhhh let's pick Walsh. Clearly better looking than the other 2 and is incomprehensible when he speaks. Makes for fun interviews.

So you do have a sense of humour after all.

Goodes, O"keefe , Lrt. and Bolton. Are our only remaining players from the premiership winning team. Dont write Goodes off yet! These guys have seen it all before. They may older but also wiser. Whether playing or not, anyone of these guys has been there and done that. And will impart their knowledge to the younger players.Way off topic i know, but sick of Goodes
bashing. In the land before internet would we be bashing Paul Kelly?

Agreed this year has been a big improvement on Mal's defence, not afraid to go back with the flight, get crunched in a marking contest or lay a strong tackle. Highlighted even further against the pies last week. Started off the night coming late at speed awkwardly into a marking contest against Dawes and had his arm twisted awkwardly with him clearly wincing in pain standing on the mark. Proceeded to lay 8 tackles on the night, they all stuck and most of them were really solid forceful tackles.

Mal's hardness has been great since he came back into the team, he must have realised he had to step it up a notch to keep his spot!

Mase I've noticed that about Armstrong's disposals as well, I think he's a creative player and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him in the future.

Man, would love to see me some SPANG

In: Reid, Spangher
Out: TDL, LRT

Now this obviously won't happen as LRT has been playing well, but with 2 functioning ruckman, an overflowing backline, Reid coming back in and a genuine leading forward who had a big impact last year in Spangher returning from injury, there really isn't a need for him. Perhaps if the coaching staff could see past their loyalty for LRT (albeit admirable) and the obligation to reward his efforts, they could see that is what's best for the team.

Seriously, why drop LRT?

i have never been an LRT fan so this sounds great! shame it wont happen though :(

Spang over LRT? Based on what? Im not sure you are all being serious but if so all I can say is wow.

It is completely bizarre that people assess against LRT against hypothetical performances rather than his actual ones.

His actual performances, particularly over the last few games, are good.

EDIT: Missed a word.

With a lot of people talking about our "dysfunctional forward line", here's today's fun fact. Lewis Jetta with 39 goals is about to become only the third player on our entire list to have kicked 40 goals in a season. Can you name the other 2? 1 is Adam Goodes. I'm sure we're making good use of them as our forward line apparently needs help.

Morton...

Might as well give him the chance this week.

In: Reid, Morton

Would love and I really mean LOVE to see Spang come in, But If we bring him in I think we will have a little too much height all over the ground... (Reid, Pyke, Goodes, Mumford, LRT, Grundy, Richards and even Johnson make us a tall enough side already... We can't fit him in at this point in time (Unfortunately)).

I think this week we have to give Morton an chance and I am probably speaking for all of us here but I really hope he goes well.
Was very impressive in the reserves last week, Not just for his goal kicking but what really surprised me was he was always doing the team thing, Passing off to other players, Tackling and providing shepherds, It was certainly impressive...
Admittedly if he doesn't play up to standard it will be curtains down on the Morton show... (Really hope he isn't sub)
