Hawthorn hasn't quite locked away its participation in the finals this season (losses to the Saints and Swans plus results in other games could see the Hawks miss out on percentage), so hopefully Clarkson has the players primed and ready to go on Saturday night.

Should win, and by quite a margin. No half efforts, we need to go full throtle until we win, or are knocked out.

The absolute perfect team going into finals for mine (albeit left field) but Clarko has proven over the years he makes big moves before finals before you all laugh...

Burton......Frawley......Miles
Hardwick...Roughy.....Stratton
Smith.......Mitchell.....Impey
Poppy.......Gunston....Morrison
Breust......Sicily........Worpell

Rucks... McEvoy...Howe...Jaegar

Bench...Henderson...Burgoyne...Ceglar...Shiels

Gunston is a bit stiff to miss

On the flip side and going against the trend on here, purely based on rewarding a player playing an excellent game in a new position, finishing the game with 21 disposals 10 marks 6 tackles and 4.2 goals playing as a forward for box hill on the weekend, i wouldn't mind seen David Mirra as a Roughead replacement.

So for me out Nash in Mirra.

Perfect timing for Mirra to show what he can bring playing him as a forward against the Saints.

And if he plays well we all know how Clarko would love another feel good story similar to Schoe in 2015.

How amazing would it be if Mirra turned out to be a boss in the forward line.

I think he always looked best roaming free, reading the flight of the ball, rather than locking down on a player. Sounds like a forward option. Took 10 marks on the weekend, 4 goals, six tackles.

Cohesion is such an understanding-rated thing in footy. Keeping the same guys playing together week in, week out.

In saying this it is also so easy to forget players who are injured such as Howe who was a shining light when when we were playing like crap.

If it were up to me and I somehow knew the fitness of all players my selection would go something like this:

Roughy for Shoe (and Shoe only)
McEvoy for Pittonet (and Pittonenet only)
Howe for Nash (Nash only)
Birchall stays out unless he plays this week and stars in our next two games (Miles has been awesome, you cannot drop him)
Sicily (for Brand only)

I say all these (only’s) because I don’t know the fitness of players and I don’t want to mess with the cohesion unless they are fit and proven.

If we steal a flag this year and make no mistake it will be a ‘steal’ it will come down to cohesion, fitness and form. Don’t mess with that in anyway. It’s about winning premierships and I don’t want to lose playing ‘names’ over the players who have us in this position. I’d also like to see us rest some guys who need it. Rest Burgoyne. Maybe even Mitchell (yes I said it). Because we will likely beat the Saints you’d think, but the Swans game is going to go down to the wire and we need a total full team effort to beat them and it’s going to likely decide our top 4 chances and whether we can ‘steal’ this flag. And we can, make no mistake!

Remember. The bye is 2 weeks away.
We also need percentage this week as Pies could pass us with 2 big wins.

It’s a fine balance.

As I said. We’re loading up for the Ronke rematch.
Not expecting Ronke to tear us one next week. Is getting bashed about in general play every week, as they have been way down in midfield grunt. Expect Sydney to have some sore boys next week - they have had a lot of tough tight matches with the boys doing men's work.

We have a fairly simple task this week, with a healthy team. Tom to bounce back and seal the Brownlow.

Well we've been turning our forwards into defenders, why not make our defenders go forward for a while?

I love BB, and im glad he is back. But I reckon this 5 week block of Cegsie being the #1 ruck will do his confidence the world of good after such a long time out of the game. Will probably make them a more dangerous duo

Completely agree.

Pumped for McEvoy, Rough, Birchall and Sicily to all potentially appear as fresh ins the next few weeks. The question is who goes out... almost everybody is in form.

Pitto comes out for McEvoy
Nash for Rough
Miles/Henderson for Birchall
Brand for Sicily

Two last calls are almost too tough to make. Sicily picks himself if fit, due to his form this year and his ability to play forward or back as necessary (I think it’s likely that he and Gunston will be seen forward and back during finals, touch wood).

Birchall is essentially two seasons out of the game, I wouldn’t play him again this year, personally. I still believe he’s got good footy in him, but not until he’s had 5-6 weeks to blow the cobwebs out. It sounds like Russell and co. disagree with me, however. If Birch comes back then I hope we’re winning finals, because finals exposure for players like Miles and Brand is crucial for our future.

Is Sam Mitchell coming back?

This year we’ve put together 1 shocker every 4-6 weeks.
Hopefully if we are due for another it’s this week. The saints are so bad that we could play at half power with 15 mins of power footy and that will be enough. We won’t get another soft opposition for the rest of the year.

Hopefully the shockers are behind us though and we are full steam ahead to whatever happens this season (Prelim is my tip)

Two Mitchells???

Siss won't be playing FF either, nor Rough CHB.

Would love to have Birchall in for Miles if possible

Brilliant from Clarko. He knew the AFL (when considering the fixture for this year) would attempt to double us up against these opponents.

I would go Worp before Howe.
