Whether Taberner can play finals for Peel is irrelevant to picking this week's team imo.Taberner is already out of contention for WAFL finals, so he needs to be expedited back into the team, we really missed a mature forward this year, will be good to have him back.
An AFL Player may play in the WAFL Finals where:
i. his AFL Club is not participating in the AFL Finals match on the same weekend as his WAFL Partner Club; and
a. the player must have played a minimum of six (6) WAFL League matches; and
b. the player has played two (2) of the clubs last eight (8) WAFL League home and away matches; and
c. the number of qualified AFL players eligible to play does not exceed twelve (12) AFL players.
We probably have about 12 qualified, think Hamling is out of contention as it stands, needs to play WAFL this week (or maybe he has just made it? not sure)
Chappy's injury has ruined his chances for finals you'd think
Not sure if Draper/Worner have played their share of 2/8 hopefully they have
Couldn't disagree more with that.I’m one of those people. Darcy / Jackson / Treacy / Knobel is enough cover for the ruck. Reidy is an average WAFL player.
I would have been fine with him staying at Peel if we could extend his season, think after missing so much footy that the club would think the same (will be super important for us next year)Whether Taberner can play finals for Peel is irrelevant to picking this week's team imo.
Only two things should be on the mind of match committee:
- What is the best team for us to win this week.
- Do we need to see some players at AFL level before the end of the season.
As long as he is up to it physically. I don't want him picking up injuries that affect his preseason because we brought him back too soon. Otherwise, he is a no brainer to get back into the main side. Can't just be knocking the ball down to the smalls all game only when there is no better option.I would have been fine with him staying at Peel if we could extend his season, think after missing so much footy that the club would think the same (will be super important for us next year)
Unfortunately that isn't possible, so its best to get him back at the elite level ASAP

At the game I felt like he was dominant, he was a massive presence up forward, could have kicked a bagIf he’s in our best team to win this week then sure.
Tbh though I’m sure he played full minutes for Peel. I watched the game and it seemed he was missing for extended periods especially later in the game. He was playing against witches hats too so three goals is more what I’d expect from Taberner minimum rather than anything overly expressive - Taberner at WAFL level is normally waaaay too good.
Not sad at all, time to welcome back our 8th highest goal scorer of all timeAs sad as it is to say, bring Taberner back in.

Nup. Sorry, dumb footballer. He will bring his defender into the space Amiss and Treacy are leading to. Don't play him.Tabs gets a weird amount of hate sometimes. Another key forward to take some pressure off Amiss and Treacy is a no brainer.
Amiss getting tired and he’s been playing on the best defender every week.
All of a sudden he gets n2 and Treacy n3, will only be a good thing for those 2.
And most importantly a forwardline of Jackson, Amiss, Treacy and Tabs is way too tall. Corbett plays because he is a medium forward.Because Jackson, Treacy, and Amiss is the way we want to play...also because Tabs tends not to play a team game when up front. Drags his opponent to the contest, contests balls he shouldn't, leads into other forwards space.
Because our season is ****ed and getting a game into Reidy is more beneficial
Corbett is in because Darcy is out, so we can play tabs for the rest of the yearAnd most importantly a forwardline of Jackson, Amiss, Treacy and Tabs is way too tall. Corbett plays because he is a medium forward.
Whaaa?Corbett is in because Darcy is out, so we can play tabs for the rest of the year
We have signed Treacy now so we can play Tabs over him next year without fear of him leaving
If we are going to compete then we pick our best team, tabs will miss games with injury anyway, that's where Treacy comes in
I quit if they play Tabs over TreacyCorbett is in because Darcy is out, so we can play tabs for the rest of the year

We're in trouble if Taberner's going to be super important for us next year. Unfortunately, the only reliable thing about Taberner's availability is that he'll be injured for a extensive portion of the year.I would have been fine with him staying at Peel if we could extend his season, think after missing so much footy that the club would think the same (will be super important for us next year)

Taberner, fit and with games behind might be, the Tabs of this and last year is about comparable. Treacy has benefitted immensely from continue games at AFL level and gets better every week and with nothing but development to play for this year you think we should drop Treacy to the 2's so Taberner can play the last few games? I think that's crazy to be honestTaberner so underrated on this board still
Treacy is exciting but he's currently half the player of taberner
He is 21 years old, he still has time to grow but Taberner is clearly better player as it stands

Oh ok, given the thread we are in I thought it was about this week.I never said that
Darcy is out so all of them should play this year
I'm talking about next year, we should pick taberner over Treacy when Darcy is fit - if Treacy is clunking marks and kicking goals in the wafl then taberner gets dropped for him if he isn't performing, simple
I’m sorry mate but I personally don’t think Tabs is ever a certainty to nail any shot outside the goal square. God knows I saw him spray shots from close range a lot of times. Just for the record, Tabs is definitely a better player than Corbet but he really should be, considering the number of games he played and number of years in the system.Funny - He doesn’t get his head around much at all, ole Tabs. I want to see what it looks like though. Get Amiss and Sturt leading up the ground more. Might as well give it a go against WCE. For mine he is as mobile as Corbett. He would have nailed that first kick at goal.
