Long wasn't invited to train as an SSP candidate so wasn't eligible to be added to our AFL list using this process.

I assume the non invitation of him in preference of others is the angst being caused right now among some albeit everything is easier in hindsight.

If we like what we've seen come the MSD then there is still a chance he'll be available at our selection should we open up a space.

It doesn’t matter whether he’s been invited to train. We added Markov from Carlton’s training and St. Kilda were trying to add Steene from ours.

It’s not angst it’s just an observation. Observations being easier with hindsight doesn’t make them less true.

Dean whiffing on uncontested marks at this level, in ideal conditions, ain’t great.
I’ll never understand the decision to play him on the back of no games in the VFL over Billy Frampton in round 0 and 1.

We’ll never know what may have been if we played Billy instead.

Dean always should have strung games together in the VFL first and proved himself for selection.

Both players I believe must have qualified at a secondary club because of there status as an SSP candidate.

There are rules regarding the players that can qualify and also a maximum amount each club can trial. It's not open slather.

Long was only ever at the club as a candidate for our VFL list and wasn't eligible as I understand it under AFL rules due to this.

The worst selection under Fly, even worse when you consider we had no Howe , basically goin in with 2 tall back, one being a guy who has played a couple of VFL games only. Not to mention the marking ability of our oppo that day...

Looks like no-one is putting their hand up for selection today. Jiath and Macrae the only two who can be even remotely satisfied now Steene is done for the day.
