His kicking is neat and he has a very nice kicking action but I don’t think he’s damaging enough with the ball going forward.

I guess if we want another defensive option on the wing it makes sense. But even with Sidebottom out the more defensive wing out him and Daicos we used both WHE and Lippa so I don’t see Bytel getting selected there anytime soon. We also push Jack Crisp out there as well.

The other thing is we don’t want want to add another slow guy to the inside midfield mix but Bytel would likely only be in contention if a slow mod got injured anyways.

The club may also think we’re covered inside with Fin as the slow option and Sullivan the quicker option but I’d prefer they swap Fin out to wing and Bytel inside as I’m just not seeing it with Fin insides.

Bytel is not a speedster but his pace looks fine IMO.
Agree he is neat and he showed a lot of poise in a couple of plays ( I only watched first half), and he’s a big body at 190cm.
I think he’s got upside including inside mid as you suggest.

Yeah, definitely getting better last couple weeks. But apparantely resigned to the fact he has lost his spot Mentioned to someone that he has his work cut out for him, now he's gonna have to work extra hard

I’d like to see Leggy promoted (most likely as an injury replacement) and then move to a wing role. His running capacity plus long kicking can be real weapons for us and more impactful if not positioned deep in defence.

I have a feeling that he played a bit of wing and mid yesterday. He was further up the ground than usual and he did it with class. As Jen mentioned, he has probably been given the opportunity to show what more he has to offer and yesterday he passed the test

He played a bit of wing in the seniors last year early on when he was a pretty regular sub.

I had a chat with a Coburg assistant coach that I know. He was obviously very happy with the win as was the rest of the side. They were unlucky to lose to Williamstown and had that hunger to win.

He said that AJ was the easiest player to line-up on. In defence, he was a dream for the forwards because he didn't read the play well and in the ruck, he wasn't much better. That's not a great assessment of a player. Moved about by the coaching panel to hide him. Assistant said Begg had a shocker, as did the midfield. Oleg also came up as lacking sting, even if he touched it.

All praise for Wil Parker who looked the best out of the lot, Cooper MacDonald and Jack Hutchinson good as well.

I thought Pendlebury was cooked after the 2018 finals series.

Taylor walker was first cooked in 2017.

Luke Hodge in about 2012.

Tom Mitchells 2022

Brian Lake before he moved to Hawthorn.

Nobody doubts he's played good games in the past.

So did Bianco, Ruscoe, etc but they were cut.

If you're going to flog Fin and co., they're ahead of AJ and that's not even opinion at the moment. It's objective fact.

Was chatting to Paul Amy at the game who thinks he could be one of those players that has no ticker. You can have all the talent in the world, but if you dont have the effort and intent, the workrate, you can get found out.
Reminds me of Sier in that aspect.

Havent seen anyone in specific.
North surely go with a key defender. Just depends on a few factors.
What kind of player we look at. Who is in front of us for picks come end of May.
