NWM has been looking very promising. But you are either completely overrating his output or have forgotten what a fit Billings is to say JB doesnt play in front of NWM.
NWM is improving every week and still has a few more weeks to stake his claim. Against Hawthorn in just his third game he had 7 marks and 18 touches at 83% efficiency. If current trajectory continues and he is consistently getting around 20 quality touches a game then I think Billings will absolutely have to do a bit more than just show up to displace him.

Since when do we win any game by 69 points with 5 obvious best 22 out. Interesting position we have moving forward and one we haven't seen in a long time.

No Billings, Coff, Higgins, Jones or Clark.

Winning gives us the luxury of putting them (exc Higgins) through their paces at Sandy, especially as our gameplay is built on contesting pressure, I don't want to see Billings come immediately back in and he misses contests by 3 steps resulting in a full rebound by the opposition.
Since we played a brown and gold rabble who basically rolled over at 3/4 time. Seriously, the hawks have been terrible for 3 or 4 years, let's not start believing we're a legitimate top 4 team yet. We may very well be, but I'd need a larger sample size than Freo, a Richmond with 4 or so key players missing or injured, and Hawthorn.

Can't wait for us to start playing the better teams.

I mean watch the replay, its really not.

Paddy initiated movement towards Day to force him to dispose of the ball. Day did the rest. There is a great post on the autopsy thread that shows just how much Day moved and changed lines to initiate the contact. I should clarify, i dont think Day intentionally ran into Paddy but Paddy takes a line and then stops, Day changes direction into Paddys line (i think he didnt realise Paddy was still there or perhaps just had a total brain fart or he may have been trying to milk some contact to get a downfield or 50m penalty or something).

Day moves somewhere between 45 and 60 degrees off his inital line
I hope Ryder gets off but if our QC goes in there and tries to argue that Day actually initiated the contact he will be laughed out of the room

would you really play all 3 at Sandy?
Jones for me walks straight back in.
The other two not.
Jones wouldn't have played a game since the Carlton praccy or last year so would definitely be playing him at least 1 game in the 2s. Same with Clark and Billings.

Sandy would have a pretty good team in😀

I kind of agree and I was about to post something about his fit at the club now but wasn't sure where to post it.

Where does he fit in our side if the side is full Strength?

keeping in mind that Jones Higgins and Clark also have to to come back.

Forwards:
Higgins - is our best goal kicking small who has x factor traits.
Butler - our best pressure forward who is quick and can also create chances from nothing
Long - currently playing his defensive forward role to a tee and deserves his spot
Gresham - when down there is a match winner and with our mids playing well and Jones and Clark to come back im sure gresh will spend more time forward.

Wing:
Wood - Our fittest wingman who also provides a marking option and works hard to help the defense and forwards (currently playing his role)
Dmac - Ultimate role player who does the defensive stuff and is playing his role
Ross - Having his best season since his B'n'F and finding his role in the team as the defensive-first minded wing
NWM - growing each week and although his output currently isn't better, his skill is already better than JB's

I'm not currently dropping any of those for vanilla JB who is also not quick or known for his defensive pressure.

I think you're right. He's going to need to have a good solid month of VFL form before I consider bringing him back in. He needs to be either A) Kicking goals and being a real threat or B) working hard defensively whilst racking up a decent amount of footy to be a chance to come back in.
I reckon JB is a lot higher production than Wood and even Dmack realistically, but would take out Wood for him. He is pretty beige but provides a lot of link up play because he gets to good spots and works hard to provide an option and then executes well.

true - wonder if they all return together. Be good to watch if at Beach rd.

is Tom Campbell really the answer to losing Ryder if we are trying to contest Witts hitouts, cant recall much of his play but has not acheived 16 hitouts in a match since 2017.

We could forfeit that battle and try hit the scoreboard harder with Hayes and impact around the ground more

I’d hazard a guess it would be part of a bigger defence and I guarantee you he won’t be laughed out of anywhere.

Pretty pointless discussion at this ooint anyway

That's because he was played mostly forward at the Kangaroos

Go back to when he was played as a first ruck and his hit outs were quite high, including games with 49 and 47 in 2017

I think Hayes deserves another crack as a forward but can understand why we'd consider Campbell

He's been very good in the VFL too

""Rush (Saints) contending Ryder's feet positioning indicates a player that is trying to brace, stop and minimise contact.
Rush also says there's a "whiplash-type effect" from "body contact" rather than head being pushed back by Ryder himself.""

AFL also tried to argue the Tim English evidence should no be admitted into consideration - tell me again how the AFL wants consistency

That line from the AFL is absolute dog shit

Rush should just spend 15 minutes making the jury watch lenny Hayes highlights. Ain't no one suspending anyone after the joy of watching that

That makes more sense then, hopefully hes ready to rock as Witts is a monster

AFL says English vs Blakey shouldn't be permitted as evidence because there was nothing for English to accept or contest because he wasn't charged.

Lol, what? You can’t use an incident that was assessed and dismissed as precedent… the ****?

Frankly the tribunal being run like a court is ridiculous. Everything about the mrp, tribunal and appeals process is absolutely farcical.
it really is insane, especially when AFL is the prosecution, going after its own instead of trying to logically work within the boundaries of their rules

FOR EXAMPLE

AFL "Woods (AFL): In my submission you really can't say this was anything other than very significant force that was exerted ... the extent of force I would say is quite clear simply by looking at the footage"

Woods knows full well the source of the force wasnt Ryder. their argument should be based on the reasonableness of Ryders decision. not making absolute crap up
