Really interesting leaving Mzungu out of the side.
I reckon he is better than at least 3 players (suban, debeor, clancee) and might even have Mainey covered. So, what the hell is going on?
Muz played a very specific outside run-with role. The question is who is doing that role now.

Suban as far as I can tell.

It has been Suban. This is the problem I have, that poster referred to Mzungu playing a "very specific role" when he's a genuine utility and can IMO play a whole number of different roles within the team. He just has more strings to his bow than Suban. Suban is a longer kick than Tendai and that's pretty much it.

Bloody hell I told myself I'd stay away from this topic

You call him a utility, but I don't see it. This poster reckons he's really only ever played medium height defensive winger/half back roles for us. As highly as we all rate Mzungu, it seems pointless saying that he's better than Mayne or Deboer, as some have, as those are not his roles. Comparing Muz to Suban, he would be a more effective link man, but then Suban has been good at clearances this year. It's a line call.

With the "line-call"s under Ross, it always seems to be decided in favour of the incumbent. Not saying that is necessarily a bad thing, I think it is a good thing - it leads to a sense of stability. As with all the other teams that can be reasonably expected to go deep into September(/October!!!) we will have decent players running around in the magoos.
