Round 6: Changes Vs Bulldogs

Especially at his stage of development/age. I know many posters aren't happy about it, but Taberner being put back to the wafl was ok in my opinion. Just a normal part of player development.
Not sure Tabs is comparable. For starters, KPF vs mid and then there is the obvious talent differential. Also completely different characters. Agree that Tabs going back worked a treat, but I haven't seen anything that makes me think Andy is better off at Peel.

If Andy needs a rest, that's fine but he doesn't play at Peel either. Otherwise he stays in.

I rewatched the game last night and thought Brayshaw was pretty solid. Disposal wasn’t too bad.

His hands have been pretty good -> great since he got here most of the time. It's only his kicking (especially for goal) that's a problem. The thing that encourages me about it is it is a weighting issue most of the time. Won't even be an elite kick but can become effective within his limitations like Neale, Cotchin etc.

Brayshaw should stay in the side. I remember his brother Angus took a while to 'adjust' to the AFL (form and concussion issues). I'm confident that Andy is finding his niche and before the incident last year was starting to show the form we all think he's capable of.
He's a determined type of player and those sorts are hard to come by.

Yeah, Conca is going no where. His disposal will never be great but he rarely loses a contest and provides a lot of grunt around the ball which is what we need more than anything. Defensively he is excellent
Yeah fair call... I just think Bewley really will have something to offer but I honestly cant think of anyone id drop so i went for Conca who does have the experience and defensive pressure.

Other than that itd be Hughes or Tucker but id honestly leave the team alone apart from Duman.

Bewley is a unit but he is not currently an inside player so you can't swap him for Conca.

Bewley is waiting for Billy or Ed to miss games or get moved positions. He may get a look in off half back if we have enough injuries there but I think pre-draft his knock was defensive positions so maybe no the best idea.

Bewley is a mid/centre line player not a back man.
Hughes and Tucker have to stay, they are just beginning to feel they belong , and to me they have both played their role in the games so far.

I'm thinking Ross will stay true to form and make minimal changes from a winning side, likely only Dardy in for Duman at this point with Cox (if fit) intercept marking in defence / outlet target on the wings and possibly filling in as our second ruck with Cerra / Conca likely to spend a bit more time down back than midfield. This will allow the Tabs / Hogan duo to stay forward full time with no ruck duties.
As much as I'd love to Blakely straight back in, I', guessing he will be time managed at Peel to make sure there is no re-occurrence of the hammy.
Blakely in next week for the Crows and, form dependent, Louge maybe two weeks after that against the Bombers (don't need a third tall against the tigers for the game in between) - Yeah Baby !!!!

McCarthy in, Duman out seems logical.
I think people often forget the travelling emergency is likely to be ahead of everyone else that was left behind to play at Peel. And I don't think we need Cox down back against Bulldogs. So although I'm not sold on him, Crowden in and Cox out might be the other change.

my guess:

- whomever is the least inj/fittest(coming back from virus) of Cox and Dardy
- Blakely for Duman

Concussion aside, we rarely seem to have guys go down during our Freo games. Peel on the other hand (and pre-season training) is where we seem to lose most of our players to inj. I don't want Blakely going anywhere near that. Plus, you would hope with momentum, home advantage, and #mundy3hundy #seymourmundy, this would be a good game for him to come in with less pressure at HB.

Wait a minute; minimal changes to a winning side, but then you have us making 3 changes in 3 weeks?

That's 3 changes over 4 weeks if my maths is correct - but was never my strong point .........

Nor obviously is grammar after re-reading the typo's in my original post !! :)

Bit of a balancing act getting the best 22 on the park as they come back from injury, while not upsetting a winning team - Does mean that perephery / potential best 22 players like Louge will very much have to earn their spots through the WAFL - Great position for us to be in really!

It seems to me that each line shouldn't have too changes unless forced.

Bringing in a midfielder, forward and back would be ok in terms of team chemistry.

Taking out two defenders or forwards or backs would be more of an issue to me.

"Shouldn't change each line"

"Changing 1/3 of each line is fine"

Umm..

I am one of Logues biggest fanbois but he definitely should come back via the WAFL to get his touch back. Can't wait to see him tear it up soon, but will be a tad rusty. Been over a full season and a bit playing at AFL level, he may want to just get some game sense again. Hughes is doing a very good job at the moment anyway, and doesn't deserve to be dropped
