Absolutely not. Hardwick and McDonald in particular.

Don’t be seduced by Hardwick stats, 70% are kick ins - long. It seems he still doesn’t know how to hand pass. And his mark and kick style is not what Sam would be looking for. If we want to get better, like Scrimshaw, his role should be under scrutiny.

McDonald doesn’t do enough and applies little to no pressure. He needs to work harder and I can’t see why he should be an auto selection. They gave him a go on ball to start the season and he couldn’t hack the pace and two way responsibility, hence no further CBAs.

If you want to get better you have reward those prepared to do the team things and there a bloke ready to make him earn his position. O’Sullivan is his name.

I’m obviously feeling prickly

Wtf is it with Jon Ralph and his take

“Hawthorn seemed to have lost the unloseable after being 13 points up with 7 minutes to go”

Lynch gets concussed again. worried for him
Lewis to be 2nd ruck unless Ramsden plays (unlikely)
Day in McKenzie out
How was he concussed? As we now know each concussion makes the next one easier to get and more damaging. Let‘s hope he can get back, but for his own good he should be thinking about life after footy and we should not assume that he will be a long term player for us.

I love Breust and it pains me to say this but it’s hard to see how he gets picked this week with Lewis and Day to come back in and plenty of blokes in the VFL putting their hand up. Moore, Chad and Brockman are ample smaller forward stocks. Breust is meant to be our senior leader out there and he’s pretty much failed to show up all year and has failed to stand up when required like in the fourth quarter today missing an easy shot for his standards.

I’m all for senior leadership helping the kids on field - but the young blokes need to also know that credits in the bank can only get you so far. I’m not putting the line through Punky but I think he should maybe get a couple of weeks in the VFL to get his mojo back.

Surely youre not blaming Breust? A small forward has a hard enough job normally but to be a small forward in side without a KPF

I’m not saying he hasn’t been up against it - but he’s been an absolute shadow of himself and isn’t close to being as dependable as he needs to be given his experience. I’m not expecting him to be kicking 3-4 goals per game and racking up the touches - but he should be icing shots like he had today in the last quarter.

I know they’re completely different type of players, but what about playing Scrimshaw up forward for this game and Weddle slots in one of the spots down back?
I would say that Weddle probably isn't going to get elevated, despite being very good in the VFL this week. He'll get his chance before the year is out, however.

I don't think the goal kicking is so much the issue, he's still hitting the goals and getting opportunities at an above average clip, but his pressure has dropped off extraordinarily. It was once one of his most elite qualities. I'm not necessarily sure we can carry multiple players up forward that offer as little pressure as Breust and Greene currently do.
