I don't think the goal kicking is so much the issue, he's still hitting the goals and getting opportunities at an above average clip, but his pressure has dropped off extraordinarily. It was once one of his most elite qualities. I'm not necessarily sure we can carry multiple players up forward that offer as little pressure as Breust and Greene currently do.

I think it’s the context of his goal kicking though. It should be a major part of his role at the moment to lead from the front up forward - some of the misses he’s had this year which he’d usually slot without a problem have come at critical moments when it could really lift the side and he just falters. That or he’ll drop marks when he really needs to take them and usually would have. He’s no Crusoe there of course but now more than ever Breust has to be getting the little things right. As it stands I think Greene and Brockman will benefit greatly from having Lewis there and I wouldn’t want to see either of them making way for Breust to remain if it comes down to it purely based on 2023 form. I want Breust to turn it around as I love the bloke and all he’s done for the club - but it feels like he’s down on confidence as much as form.

One thing to consider is do you want Lewis's first game back from a knee injury being at Marvel on that turf, may see him the week after.

Ward & Day are locks to be back in, Long & Lynch the outs for mine.

If Lewis is back think it will be for Scrimshaw

What’s Wonthaggi like? Good recovery facility?

This would be a miracle win.
Bonts 200th.

I'll take competitive.

Nash to test his form against the best mid going around at the minute will be good viewing.

Same goes for Reeves and English.

Day and Lewis huge ins. Shame about the timing.

Out: Lynch (concussion), Hardwick (omitted), Morrison (Omitted), Scrimshaw (Omitted), Macdonald (Omitted)

In: Day, Weddle, Ward, God/Lewis

Long can play as second ruck, one of the omitted to play as sub

Think we'll find this one a lot tougher than the last 2 weeks. Dogs have the far superior midfield and English will act as an extra mid and bath us around the ground. Hopefully Day and Lewis are back and we keep it relatively close.

Out: Lynch inj, Mackenzie managed, Scrimshaw toe / managed.

In Meek, Ward, Weddle, Stephens, Ramsden.

I know they’re completely different type of players, but what about playing Scrimshaw up forward for this game and Weddle slots in one of the spots down back?
Scrimshaw didn’t play back today anyhow.

Back 7 were Frost, DGB, Sicily, Jiath, Mitchell, Impey and Hardwick

Gee that's come quick. Makes me feel old.

Feels like just a few years ago he he made his debut. Wonderful player.

I'm one of the biggest Dogs supporters going around (who isn't actually a Dog's supporter) but taking Libba out of that midfield and including Day into ours evens the playing field greatly.

Reeves/Meek will have their hands full keeping up with English around the ground. He is the most mobile ruck in the leauge and mobility is not really one of our rucks strengths.

Not sure how we could negate his influence apart from instructing Reeves and Meek from wearing him down in the ruck contest?

100% . They normally belt us on ball and stoppage year in and out .
This year we are greatly improved there , take Libba out and I feel we can really give them a contest .

We have three best 22 players in Lewis, Day and Ward to return. Then we have to replace the structural loss of the second ruck.

Ins: Lewis, Meek, Ward, Day
Outs: Lynch, Long, Mackenzie, Scrimshaw

B: Sicily Frost Hardwick
HB: Impey DGB Mitchell
C: Amon Nash Morrison
HF: Moore Greene CMac
F: Brockman Lewis Wingard
Fol: Reeves Newcombe Day
Int: Worpel Ward Meek Jiath
Sub: Breust

Incredibly stiff with the omissions but their counterparts simply perform better at the moment. Ramsden could debut but I think we'll bring Meek back. Weddle is another I want in this side but difficult to find room.

I'm convinced Breust needs a spell now. Or sub.

IN: Lewis, Ramsden, Day, Ward

OUT: Lynch, Long, Breust, Scrim.
breust shouldnt be out....yes he didnt play well but he did get injury last week early in the game, hes in our best 22 mate.

In: Lewis, Day and Ward.
Out: Lynch(inj), Long(unlucky) and Mackenzie (managed).

Hardwick Frost Impey
Jiath DGB Sicily
Day Newcombe Amon
Moore Scrimshaw Wingard
Greene Lewis Breust
Reeves Nash Worpel
Morrison Mitchell Ward Brockman
Sub: Macdonald
On the cusp: Weddle Kosi Butler Ramsden

In the 1st game last year Reeves gave our mids an armchair ride early. They started reading him in the 2nd half and Libba was instrumental in that. Hopefully we can have that advantage in the ruck to counteract the deficiencies we have with our ruck's mobility around the ground
