Prediction Round 8: Changes Vs North Melbourne + pre-match discussion

I want to win. I want to gatecrash the top 4 this season. I want a flag.

That all said, what an opportunity for Amiss and others to get a game under the lights on Friday. Whatever their performance they will 100% benefit longer term.

Short term - I don’t think we lose against North. If we do there will be so many learnings taken.

Medium term (this year) - We still answer some questions. See who rises to the opportunity. Create depth. Strengthen squad, process and cohesion.

Longer term - it’s all good.

Sheesh this game got interesting. I’m just as excited about team selection as the game itself.

Is Clark going to play on a wing? Is Sturt in? Are we going two rucks? Is Erasmus playing?

Where current delivery of skills - as opposed to growth potential - is roughly equal, surely replacement players will be chosen on AFL level experience.

Too many inexperienced young players, no matter how talented, into the team in one go is expecting too much from the collective.

Acres - Young
Lobb - Amiss
Colyer - Erasmus
Logue - Chapman
Meek - Darcy
Frederick - Sturt

Ryan Pearce Young
Walker Cox Chapman
Clark Brayshaw O'Driscoll
Sturt Treacy Erasmus
Schultz Amiss Switkowski

Darcy Brodie Serong

Tucker Mundy Walters Aish

We are still fine.
This is pretty close to what I had - just shuffled a few deckchairs.

And, I think Banfield will play.

Ryan Pearce Young
Clark Cox Chapman
Tucker Brayshaw O'Driscoll
Walters Treacy Banfield
Schultz Amiss Switkowski

Darcy Brodie Serong

Walker Mundy Aish Erasmus

MSub Blakely

Given Banfield has hardly touched it in the last two WAFL games I’m hoping they bring in Sturt instead, but otherwise happy with that team

Hard to understand how anyone could watch that peel v west Perth game 2 weeks ago and decide that Erasmus shouldn’t play AFL this week but Banfield and Henry should.
Beats me to be honest.
Maybe Erasmus is still not over the concussion. That’s the only explanation I can think of

I’ve heard that’s exactly what is happening with Ras sub

Our defence and midfield are up to the standard of the selected sides we've put out so far this season.

I expect we want to keep the same structures in the forward line that have worked so far. 2 talls and a plethora of smalls - except this is the first time we don't have either Lobb or Taberner.

Apart from knowing that Larkey is out suspended, I don't know much about North's forward line and how much height we need down back to cover them.

I suppose we could select another tall or medium tall defender like Hamling or Hughes and swing someone like Cox forward - or maybe we'd have enough already to do that with Pearce, Chapman and Ryan covering talls.

Reckon we are only a couple more covid cases from accessing a top up. Strom would be handy this game
No, we're still miles off that. Crowden, Blakely, Hughes, Wilson, Hamling, Sturt, Henry, Erasmus, Worner still available. One of those will play.

No way a top would play ahead of any game of those guys.
