Round 12: Vs Swamprats (home – sort of – it was Renown Park, where we always lose): Roys Win (WTF ????): 133 - 71

In a massive case of opposite week, the Roys beat the Swamprats. Not only did this very rare event actually occur, but we were blessed with Near Kern ‘s presence after an extended absence, but also we won our first game ever (in 10000000 attempts) at Renown Park. Massive WTF’s all around….

Mooch started the game brightly, with Supersuns and Wosh continuing the trend. TedDougChris kicked the ball and it wasn’t a point, with the crowd responding accordingly.



Two more goals to Mooch setup a handy buffer at QT. Three quick goals to Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever and two more to Mooch (up to 5 already) had the Roys extending their lead as we approached half time. While not normally commenting on the opposition players, it was good to see jackster83 having a good 12 second break early in the third term, for some unknown reason. Mooch had 8 and Wosh another as the lead blew out to over 50 points midway through the third term. We had enough time for Mooch to hit double figures and for Chezzalenko Reborn to slot one – as the Roys finally got one over the Swampies !!

Best: 10.1 to Mooch was a stellar FF performance, 28 disposals and 3 goals to Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever was a close second and hotchilli, Wosh, windyhill, Zevon were all significant contributors in a thumping win.

The Roys have managed to recruit some cracking rookies over the past few years. Sadly, some of moved on, but some are still here adding to the best posting team in the Sweet FA. We were lucky enough to get three fine recruits for S32 - Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever , hotchilli and Lore , although Lore joined part way through the season.

And this year, the Leadership Group have yelled at me to make a ******* decision, rather than giving the award to everybody, including random people walking past the BJO on a sunny Thursday in April.

So, without further ado, the winner this year is Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever !!!

But only just. Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever had an outstanding season on and off the field. She was very unlucky to miss out on All Sweet FA honours, she was clearly head and shoulders above her peers in the HFF spot, won Rookie Gun of the Year and made an amazing contribution to the club. We are very lucky to have her and looking forward to seeing what she can dish up this year.

We're also thrilled to have Lore and hotchilli here as well, and looking forward to what tigs2010 and MoscowHawk can bring to the table next season as well !!

Congrats Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever You are going to have to buy a new trophy cabinet at this rate!

Recruiting for the Sweet FA is a difficult task and using the Tours of Qooty is problematic – as Barrybran , Dingster and TheInjuryFactory will recently attest. But sometimes they can unearth a gem, even if that gem takes a little while to be able to be shown to the world.

Once such recruitment gem was Zevon – who really embraced the league, the banter and the Roys culture in his second season and became a feature around the place, a Roy and opposition favourite – even earning recognition across the league for his improvement this season.



So the Flea29 award for S32 goes to Zevon . Well done mate, we love having you here and hope you can stick around for a long time.

The Gumbies were in disarray early, with 4 changes to counter the amazingly impressive 0.0.0 start from the Roys. How they would have coped if we’d actually scored, is anyone’s guess. Eventually Mooch stepped in and started scoring, keeping the Roys level with the Gumbies early on. Half way through the first, the Roys fans started leaving the venue early – as TedDougChris replaced Supersuns. The Roys responded with a rash of behinds (if it persists, see your doctor).

With the exception of royboy2 (who was especially motivated by payment in lapdance form) – the Roys were especially wasteful in front of goal early on, but slowly through Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever , Allikat and Mooch and Barrels, the Roys pressed ahead. Late goals to Dingster and windyhill gave the club a slender lead at the main break.

The Gumbies pressed hard early in the third, but cats and Mooch repelled the invaders. The Roys were again wasteful until midway through the last when _Mike_ stepped up and slotted one – giving us a handy 28 point advantage – of which we needed nearly every last point of, as we completely went home early and allowed the Gumbies to close within a goal. Squeaky bum time indeed….

Best: Zevon , Mobbs (winding back the clock with 22 disposals and 9 marks), Wosh, Allikat , Mooch (6 goals 7 man – practice FFS !!!!) , Lore and Beandip were all strong contributors in a close fought win !!

Round 14: Vs Warriors (home): Roys Won: 158 - 89

The game started with _Mike_ and Barrels kicking points, and Wosh and Mooch kicking goals. Which is ok, I guess….. Could be better, could be worse…

At this point – we interrupt our scheduled transmission to point out that Mobbs had had a handball by then…. Congratulations



Mooch and Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever closed out the terms scoring, with the Roys having a slender lead. At this stage, there was no indication of the carnage to follow.

The Roys turned a 10 point lead into a 55 point lead with goals to Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever , Mooch, _Mike_ , Supersuns, Aristotle Pickett (2) and Barrels (2) – whilst restricting the Warriors to a solitary point for the term. More of this please….

And then it got worse for the Warriors, with Wosh, fitzroybowiedog , Beandip and Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever slotting majors, and the margin blew out to 86 points before the Warriors responded.

The Roys comfortably eased off for a convincing win, conserving energy for the finals run-in.

Best: An unusual scoreline led (largely) by an unusual set of suspects. Beandip with 5, Wosh , Mooch and Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever with 3, Barrels , fitzroybowiedog and Aristotle Pickett with 2 – even RU_ bobbed up and put one through the big sticks !! Allikat had 9 marks and 28 disposals, , Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever had 10 marks, Lore had 7 marks, and numerous Roys racked up big disposal counts in a percentage booster at home.

Round 15: Vs Wonders (away): Roys Won: 99 - 67

In warm conditions away at the Colosseum, RU_ and Frothies Mcveigh decided to have a kick to kick early on – ignoring their teammates and just playing with each other (er……. Moving on)..

It took about 15 minutes for Mooch to get the Roys first major in a dour early struggle. The Roys were attacking the goals, but for little reward. Mooch was trying to give lessons, but during the game was proving an inopportune time. Mooch with all the Roys majors to the first break. This trend continued in the second term, with the Roys wasteful kicking 4.10 for the half – to lead by 7 straight points…. Situation normal really….

The second half was delayed as both sides went looking for the balls shanked out of the park by the Roys forwards, but when it got underway – boy did it get underway.

The Wonders kicked away to a handy lead (oh, this story again….) before Supersuns and Aristotle Pickett stepped in to keep the Roys close. This was followed by Supersuns and Aristotle Pickett kicking goals.



Mooch then rounded out the term for the Roys to take a 12 point lead into the final term.

The Wonders pressed early, before Barrels steadied the ship with a nice goal. _Mike_ revealed a new obsession with shaving the goal posts (NTTIAWWT), before royboy2, Barrels and Mooch put the result beyond doubt, the Roys getting close to the 100 point scoreline, but just falling short due to poor goal kicking.

Best: When your gun FF kicks 6 in a tight win, you’d normally thank them for helping get you over the line. But when your gun FB holds the opposition FF to donuts – your thanks need to start down the other end. JackNah_8 kept Loonerty statless, I repeat statless. This was a huge part of the victory this week. Supersuns, Aristotle Pickett , hotchilli and some other dude all played well.
