Russell for Boak?

yes yes yes, lets do the deal, please...........pffft seriously do u think port would be that stupid? boak is all class, as if they would do a straight swap, i do know though that boak was a passionate carlton supporter before getting drafted, i would take him in a heartbeat

Can confirm that his father was a massive Carlton fan (also a Torquay FC legend who sadly passed away a couple of years ago).

Doubt this will happen but if we can load up a Russell and another pick or player would definitely go for it.

Young Boak is a class act.

I've been saying for a while that we are after him but Russell for Boak just won't happen.

If we are after Boak and he wants to come to the blues that would be great!

I would seriously consider giving our first pick (considering it is meant to be a weak draft and at best our first pick will be 10 or 11) and Russell.

I think the kid has the potential to be as good as Murph and Gibbs.

I if we were doing a deal with Port i think players like Hartlett and Jacobs (with Lade retiring and no good rucks in the draft) could also be used in different scenarios.

We should also be looking at Salopek as well.

It could be a complicated one.

Port are definitely in the market for a ruckman, so if negotiations were ever to begin, Jacobs would be part of the equation. Very promising young ruckman recruited from SA, great tapwork, neat skills, but slow and cumbersome around the ground. Not a star, by any means, but would give a decade of solid service. Is a fourth-stringer behind three potential guns in Kreuzer, Warnock and Hampson, but would most likely walk in to Port's 22.

I'd offer Jacobs + our first rounder for Boak, but Port would want much more after investing both pick #5 and three years of development in him. Is a very, very talented player who would perfectly round out our midfield for the next decade (Gibbs and Murph good finishers; Boak a tough, smart, versatile and skilled predominately inside mid).

Although we would seem to be winners if this trade went through, I say no! All the pain Russell has put us through over the years now he has moved to the backline and has been quite bloody brilliant recently he's not goin anywhere - He owes us!

Boak would be nice over here in Melbourne,
but i dont want to trade russell,
after all the hard work he has put in over the years , and the rewards he is getting now,
why get rid of him,
Ratten has put faith in him from the start , when Russell is coming good, why would he go and trade him.
No way- don't want Russell gone

nah, like a few others here i've grown fond of kicking the bastard

would have been indifferent to this trade earlier in the year (not to mention surprised if it got off the ground) but he seems to have finally found a spot of his own. would imagine he get better too, if he is played there regularly as well.

Yet another Russell bashing thread...

I would have thought he has been one of our most consistant players in the second half of the season...

He has taken the next step and with his confidence growing I would expect a stand out season next year...

he's going to be a player this bloke!

Last I heard, Geelong and Port have 'verbally' agreed to a trade which would send Boak to Geelong, and Varcoe to Port.

Port would be getting robbed.

Fringe player + pick 10 does not equal gun young midfielder.

Russell is not a fringe player.

I would absolutely love Boak at the Blues, but as much as Blues fans would all agree to the trade, there is no way he's coming for Russell and a 1st rounder. We gave up enough to get Judd, so let's just get back to developing what we've got.
