I still have faith in Carr.

I reckon if he committed 100% to the Richmond job he would’ve pipped Yze, because I reckon he would’ve fitted their mould post Hardwick better.

But he wants the port job because he loves this club, and having a coach that is a passionate port man again that understands the fans and the culture excites me. After the Hinkley experiment I’d be a little wary about getting another outsider and can definitely see merit in playing this one safe.

And it’s pretty evident Carr can coach. We stripped our coaching staff back at the end of 2021 (lose Voss and Schofield and replace with no one) and paid the price but since then we’ve made only minor changes besides Monty out for Carr which had an immediate impact on on field performances, especially when Hinkley was demoted to the bench.

Whilst it still ended miserably In finals last year and we still are prone to hinkleyball we have improved since Carr arrived.

How exactly is he meant to knife Hinkley anyway? He doesn’t make the decision, that’s up to the board.

I resist watching the games. Did not watch 1 minute of footy this weekend. Refreshing. I'm lead to believe it's the Gather Round Circus this weekend. What a ******* joke that s**t us. SA stumps up huge amounts of cash to fund this Victorian shitfuk league. Putrid.
Actually, SA makes big money out of Gather Round, just as the northern states made money during Round 0.

Victoria makes millions out of the MCG GF, which is why their State Govt has grabbed it for 57 years.

So the AFL are doing a little, but not a lot, to share the wealth with the non-Victorian states.

Carr can eat shit. As can anyone involved in this ****ing shithole for the last 11-12 years.

How the **** does Hinkley get a ****ing succession plan? The senile campaigner hasnt even won anything. Succession plans are reserved for those who actually win shit.

Burn the place down

When's the last time you heard him give a post match presser and thought "that's interesting" or even as much as a "yup, that's right"? What's even the point of having them. They rarely give any real insights and that goes for most of the media done by coaches. At least with some other coaches, every now and then they'll use it to plant something with the players or question something interesting or have a go at the umps... Not us.
Only last year vs Geelong when he almost had a crack at the umpires... Almost.

If Carr is the man to take us forward, I just hope Hinkley doesn't hang around the club in ANY capacity. We need to de-Hink-lify our club as fast as possible, and without his influence I'm confident that Josh will be a far better coach.

Who sits next to Carr is the other issue. When you get a coach in from somewhere else they bring assistants with them. Is a Carr that's been here 3 years as assistant (lets face it it'll be more than that) doing that or are we stuck with Chadbro and the cast of loser Magpies captains filing our coaching ranks forever?

For Carr's sake he really should've gone for the Richmond job and I don't understand why he didn't

This. He's now spent too much time exposed to our risk-averse, stay-in-the-comfort-zone environment to be the new broom we need to reset the culture when Hinkley moves on.

If we want an ex-Port premiership player as the next coach I'd much prefer Kingsley (missed that boat), Hardwick, Schofield, or Montgomery.

I have been reflecting on the Melbourne defeat and it is getting to the point where everyone and not just people on this forum are sick of the gameplan that we play and know that it is difficult to win in that manner which is against the natural flow of how football is played.

On the 5AA calls, you can hear Timmy G and Tredders constantly bemoan that fact that our tall forwards play from behind constantly. And when a tall back starts intercepting willy-nilly, they get even more upset like Lever on the weekend, without May playing. They and every good fan knows that it is bad football and as I've said goes against the flow of the game but also the competitive juices of the footballing instinct.

That is why even though the players talk up Kenny, they know very clearly that the gameplan is very difficult to get a win against against good teams or contested teams. I think some of the players are tired, I don't mean physically tired but more mentally tired. The only way I can explain it is with a basic story. You're asked to dig a hole in the ground. You have a spoon and a spade. You are told to only use the spoon. As you dig the hole, you think and lament not being able to use the spade.

I get the feeling that Kenny's Cluster which is one part of a bigger tactical failure is now becoming more stronger in the consciousness of the Port fans even the neutrals and even the happy clappers.

Speculative reporting names no one, hey I,m in Adelaide need a local story to spin, gut feel has me thinking this , bam lets go with it.
Call me a cynic, but my thoughts are the club has leaked it out, while the eyes are of the footy world are on SA for Gather Round, to gauge the reaction to the idea. With a view to potentially pulling the trigger on it a year early if things don't go to plan in 2024.

This. I've felt some sort of shift since Saturday night. Even some of the most hardened, Hinkley-fied nuffies are admitting they've sat through that horror show one too many times.

It is a great way to put it. A horror show which is not that entertaining and gets by on jump scares and a generic ugly monster.

I think when you clearly see, especially in the stats, we were a better side but all of the ingredients didn't blend together, you look to the chef.

As others have already suggested even a percentage of the happy clappers are now beginning to realise they have seen the same movie way too many times, and after the team burning yet another game they should have won comfortably the penny may have also finally dropped with the clowns who run the show with this (hopefully leaked) succession announcement.

Wishful thinking maybe, but another finals failure this season and I can see Josh Carr being installed as the number 1 banana for the 2025 season.

Re Carr, if he is anywhere near as ruthless a coach as he was a player I can see him putting a scythe through the assistant ranks, hopefully beginning with Chadbro, so I'm prepared to give him a chance to get us back to being the genuine PAFC again!

DEVELOPING: Plans are forming for Josh Carr to replace Ken Hinkley when his time is up at Port Adelaide.

I feel like a lot of people didn't watch this horrifying conversation. To quote the relevant part.

"So just quickly, there is a chance Ken Hinkley still coaches beyond 2025?"
"Absolutely, noone is pushing Ken Hinkley out the door but at the moment that's when his contract ends and I'm sure over the next 12-18 months this will materialise for Josh Carr to take over then, or if he continues it might be a year or two after that."

What a laughable joke of a club this is. An absolute disgrace. How could you make plans years in advance on a guy with zero success. How can you possibly make a call on the coaching market and who the best available candidate will be in 2 years time, let alone 3 or 4.

Its sad to think as well that if we were run well we could go to Hinkley now and give him two options:
1. Succession plan is for 2025 when Josh will take over
2. We sack you and pay out 6 months and Josh takes over now

Last year's failure would be forgotten about, everyone would unite back on board, the club takes a minimal financial hit. Its just so simple.

Aaron Paul He Cant Keep Getting Away With This GIF by Breaking Bad

We're already a running joke amongst AFL fans, on par with Dodo bird at Essendon.

I blame port Adelaide supporters. One measly sticker and a handful of banners. Come on. Someone needs to up the stakes. Truckload of manure at Alberton? Glyphosate sack Hinkley into Adelaide oval?

"No one is pushing ken hinkley out the door". Who said that? Who the **** said that? Who's the slimy little communist shit, twinkle toed ********er who just signed his own death warrant?

LETS MAKE KENNY A 400 GAME COACH

Tom Morris lol

It's the assumption that it's the god given right of Kenny Hinkley to coach to the Kenny Hinkley football club for all eternity until He decides it's time to step away that sets me off.

And Tom Morris is a slimy little private school weasel who needs to be flushed down a toilet.

If we were a well run club, the only options we'd be giving Hinkley this year are whether he wants to go to a pub or a nice restaurant for his five year reunion dinner.

That Tom Morris now has one of the bigger platforms and exposure of any media person is a testament to the power of racism, homophobia, and sexism.
