I sort of get where Kane is coming from though, and i know this will be dismissed on here but what if we win the next two premierships. Highly unlikely i know but will this handshake agreement hold up under those circumstances and would you still want to change under that set of circumstances?

I still personally think the timing would be right for a change even with two flags, and i believe it will happen at the end of this year if we fail in finals again or worse.

But Collingwood won a flag and made a GF in Malthouse final 2 years and it made for a very ugly transition, as Malthouse suddenly changed his tune because they were flying and realized he still wanted to coach. As long as Hinkley is completely fine with walking away at the end of this contract no matter what, then it shouldn't be an issue.

The bit that didn't make much sense is when he went on about what if Chris Scott became available but he was always quick to dismiss Hardwick and Clarkson when they actually were available and hinkley was coming out of contract.

Maybe the succession plan will include ongoing employment for Jordan and further employment down the track for members of the Hinkley clan.

At the end of the day, Kane has and will say anything to back Ken in and keep him head coach.....he has a very clear and obvious bias towards him and as such lacks a lot of credibility in the conversation.

And I'd say that last little jab at Port listening to their fans too much, which is very obviously untrue, seems nothing more than Kanes frustration that Ken may finally, after potentially 13 years, be moving on.

Kane, stop embarrassing yourself. "Ken deserves support". "Hinkley fatigue". LOL. How much *ing support does the guy need? Fatigue? I have had the worst case of Hinkley chronic fatigue syndrome since 2016. Geez, pee off forever, both of you.
He's had 250 games worth of support, which is at least 100 too many.

For anyone who's seen the Oscar-winning Korean movie Parasite, the two stories are very similar.

A opportunistic family attaches itself like leeches to a better, more successful host organism, eventually conducting a successful infiltration and refusing to leave.

In the lead up to stinkers breaking bill Stephen's record we really need to stick to the facts and spam any independent or non-hinkley ball licker journos with the stats. It's hard to argue with being the least successful coach in the history of the sport.
I'm surprised that no one has started a countdown thread yet.

It is sickening.

We are wasting 2 years of when Rozee and Butters are in their prime just so that Donut's can hang around and do a formal hand over to Carr.

And if we don't win it all this year, the following year will feel like the longest year of our lives. Kenny Average will more than likely be on autopilot. It will be a year rife with speculation and impatience and players just waiting and these sorts of things.

Also Kane knows that most fans think he is a turd!

"Ken Hinkley has finally got the tools" - Kane Cornes.

I guess if it doesn't work out for the 12th and 13th time, Ken Hinkley and behinds kicking coach Chad Cornes can go coach at Glenelg.

These succession plans never work positively.

Both end up frustrated and in limbo and reaks of a club that knows it made a bad decision by extending.

Just make the bloody call at seasons end already and stop wasting everyone’s time.
These guys would disagree with you. They have a flag post succession plan.

Imagine how much Kane is going to turn on your club when the next coach kicks Chad out.
There are 2 reasons why Kane absolutely backs no grand finals Hinkley over someone like 1 flag + another grand final, in 2 less seasons Beveridge.

1) Ken got Kane to 300 games. When he told the club in the 2014/2015 preseason he wanted to join the fire service and the selection intake trials were in May and it was the first intake in 5 or 6 years plus he didn't know when the next ones might be on again, the club should have said see you later or you play out 2015.

The club buckled, made an exception, was worried about any political fall out with his old man's influential media gig, and Kane can now say he is a 300 gamer which sounds a lot better than a 295 gamer. This BS was part of the reason why we went backwards in 2015 after the 2014 PF loss to the Hawks by a kick.

And when he was selected after the trials, he was put on relieving day shift, wasn't put on a specific shift that does 2 days 10 hour shift then 2 nights 14 hour shifts followed by 4 days off, and would always try and piss off about 4pm so he could catch a flight to Melbourne on a Friday for his media gig. When he was told in no uncertain terms to either commit to his MFS job or piss off, he pissed off and later described it as bullying, unlike the big cuddles Kenny gave him.

2) He knows that if a new coach comes in, especially an outsider, his brother will get the arse and he loses his inside info from him and Ken, and probably a couple of others who might also get the boot.

This club, lead by the Snake Oil Salesman Koch talks so much dumb bullshit it is difficult to know what to believe, but as this has been flagged so early in the year, when we are travelling relatively well at 3 and 1, it kind of feels like they might be trying to telegraph something?
Maybe, just maybe, Ken is feeling drained by the scrutiny he's getting. Whilst sections of the media gargle his balls, the hatred from sections of the Port Adelaide community is palpable. Ken would be feeling this. So is the club. For Kane to come out and say what he said about the club listening to members too much, he knows something. Just reckon both the club and Ken, if we have another inevitble finals failure, might just part ways a year early. Hinkley is an old man in poor physical and mental capacity, he must be tired, he must be feeling the constant heat, which will only ramp up even higher with another finals capitulation, I reckon there just might be a deal whereby Hinkley steps down (after being financially compensated) and Carr takes over a year early. Maybe wishful thinking, but it does have that whiff about it.

Also, why is it being leaked and or spoken about so much.

Honestly if we won the next two flags, the best possible response would be to sack Hinkley

Probably because Koch is spooked by the Tredrea vote.

He knows if we win a flag he will be able to weazle out of it as he hasn't made it official.

And if we don't then he may be forced to make a change anyway, but he still leaves himself wiggle room and buys time.

I rewatched the Kane snippet and he lost a little bit of his soul with that one.

He didn't really believe a fair amount of what he was babbling on about.

Fresh off his run-in with Luke Darcy, where he boasted of consuming a ton of American sports media content of the sort that Darce and most of the AFL industry wouldn’t last five minutes in with their safe, matey, don’t upset or offend anyone, boring takes.

And yet when it comes to Ken Hinkley and dealing with criticism of him, Kane’s the worst of the lot.
