Imagine what Choco & Primus would think reading how a complete failure again in finals is okay and the coach isn't even worried.

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley is prepared for the criticism that will come his way after the Power was unceremoniously dumped out of the finals in straight sets.

Port’s 23-point loss to GWS at Adelaide Oval was the fifth sudden-death final Hinkley’s side has lost since 2014, with the Power failing to make a grand final in 11 seasons under the coach who signed a new two-year contract in August.

Hinkley was asked if he was feeling rising tension at the lack of finals success in the aftermath of the upset loss.

“If I was, do you reckon I’d still be around?” he replied.

“That’s the simple answer … ‘No, I’m not’.

“I’ve got a great support crew that help me coach this football club.

“I’m not worried about what that scrutiny sounds and looks like, but I get that it will come … I can’t avoid that.

“I will handle it – it’s OK.”

Is this the first time the ******* has said anything since the semi final?

God I hate the prick

Did this idiot just say if he felt tension he wouldn't be around?

Why disappear after the 2021 prelim then? Why disappear after the 2023 straight sets exit?

We just have to make his tenure tense and he's gone?

Pay me $800k but if I get marginally uncomfortable with the accountability of my position I'm gone. This guy is full of shit.

Good for you, Ken. As long as you're all hunky-dory, then life is good, hey?

This is what gets me. There is absolutely zero concern or a sense of shame for the fanbase or the playing careers he’s wasting — the gutless Board is continuing to pay me a fortune to keep showing up, so eh.

Days since Essendon won a final is probably the ultimate AFL meme, and has recently passed the 7,000 mark. Days since Hinkley wasn't sacked should be another. It's probably unfair to count that from when he was first employed, or even the number of days that he hasn't made a Grand Final, but it must be around 4,000 by now.

Days since first AFL Final coached (7th Sept 2013) = 3737 days

He's a total flog.

He said all that in the presser after the GWS final why are people thinking it was yesterday? anyway it's the words of a man facing zero internal pressure, it creates a monster who thinks he runs the joint and can just request how long his extensions are.

Days since daddy stinker won a flag (with d grade ammos at Bell park):

7300 or so

At the end of the 2009 season, Hinkley was announced as an assistant coach at the new Gold Coast Football Club under senior coach Guy McKenna.[6][7] Hinkley served as assistant coach for the Suns in their inaugural season in the 2011 season and the 2012 season.[8] during this period, Hinkley also interviewed for the Richmond, Geelong and St Kilda senior coach positions but was unsuccessful.

An assistant at one of the worst teams of all time, rejected for 3 senior positions, and we get stuck with the campaigner for 13 years and counting.

The selection-assisted home elimination final disaster of 2017 would be a reasonable start date. September 9.
