I think it comes down to a few things, the biggest one being whether Carr has already signed a contract to be the next head coach with a rolling start date. And that MAY have already happened a while ago - quite possibly during season 2023.

If that is the case, if Port want to give Hinkley a further extension (for 2026 and 2027), then the issue becomes one of how can anyone in their right mind have signed a senior coach to a contract that wouldn't be enacted for 4 years AFTER the contract had been originally signed. The alternative would be to rip that contract up, in which case the payout could be close to 2M.

The Board are in the stickiest of situations if they want to play it out like this, and it will be a situation entirely of their making with no one else to blame.

If that rumoured contract with Carr is, in fact, there, it sounds like there is a real risk to be unenforceable for uncertainty.

I'm not saying there aren't ways to draft a contract of that type which has the potential to be binding. It's just that it would take a fair amount of work.

Of course, in the hypothetical you paint, it is Carr who would be seeking to enforce the contract.

The club really doesn't feel any outside pressure at all, going by Richardson's reply email to me.

They feel so insulated behind the walls of Alberton, along with the media protection racket, the silence from past players, coaches and previous custodians of the club.

I'm struggling to understand what this club stands for, nobody seems to care, the only person I have heard speak out about Ken besides Tredrea was Chocco Williams, when he said (I don't know how Ken does it, he has the Adelaide media eating out of his hand).

As far as Richo is concerned, the players are 100% behind Ken, membership is up and we should all be excited about 2025.

We will never get the real Port back again, I am now convinced of that.

I am being a little greedy though, they delivered those 3 premierships in the last 5 years, how ungrateful can I be.

They don't want us as supporters. Fair enough, I don't want them as a club anymore

Of all the top decision makers at the club, Richo is the biggest happy clapper of them all.

He's a good person and deserves credit for helping the Club's off-field business models, but is completely delusional on Hinkley. He's fully bought in to the whole father figure narrative and fears the mass exodus of players leaving in the event Ken leaves.

Is all of this conjecture and hypothesis?

That doesn't leave us much hope then, he basically said in his email to me that we don't care, membership is up, players are backing Ken, the club is not toxic, the system is far from broken.

This sentence was interesting.
'Given your emails, I understand your views and there I won’t try and explain the decision making'.

We must be a minority group and the club treats us accordingly, a sad situation but as Ken once said, there are more important things in life besides football.

The new admin and Happy Clappers can think themselves lucky that our love and loyalty to the club got it into a position to crack the AFL, now we are just some break away ungrateful group of keyboard worriers, very nice after 40 ****ing years.

My Brother in law is good mates with Wangas and he's not concerned, it's all about holiday homes, golf and the like, so we have no chance of getting our club back.

I'll be bringing up the father figure bs at the AGM. It's beyond a joke, totally irrelevant when it comes to being a successful coach and rather creepy.

I wouldn't be concerned about the club based on how Wanganeen feels about it all right now. He's never been a confrontational individual and certainly wasn't a driver when it came to his time on the Board.

Richo's logic seems to be that because revenue and membership are up that the Club are doing a good job. And I see his reasoning but he's making decisions through that prism rather than the prism of always asking the question "does this move bring us closer to winning a premiership?"

I'll be bringing up the father figure bs at the AGM. It's beyond a joke, totally irrelevant when it comes to being a successful coach and rather creepy.

They've internally described it as thinking it is similar to the relationship Fagan has with his players at Brisbane which imo is BS. Fagan is respected and an authoritative figure who has empowered his players to be grown men on the field. Hinkley couldn't be further from that mould.

The amatuer tier windmilling about very mild revenue (inflated by membership price increases) increases is hilarious. Could be making +4 but lets swing the dick about +1. It's all very 'Port'.

Tell you what, if we experience a dire patch with this mob in charge they will have no one to call on.

Isn't it funny how the AGM generally has a smell of blood to it, yet they tell us everyone is happy. Ok so who exactly is happy? Because it isn't the people who care enough to leave the club in their will, and it isn't the people who cate enough to go to the AGM. All memberships and all revenue are not equal. However they seem to put the casuals on the pedestal.

Nice of these blow ins to shit on the people whp truly saved the club at its lowest ebb. Instead they credit Hinkley and Koch for it all and tell the most passionate to eat cake.

It's all very much not for me. Glad I don't pay anymore. The club's objective is revenue and thats where it ends. Not much point following this club if you are invested in results.

I believe that not only is that Richardson's way of thinking but also the thinking of the majority of the board. Koch and his board have decided that winning a flag in the AFL is too hard for a poor little battler club from Alberton so they aren't really trying. For them it is all about increasing revenue and reducing costs.

There are members on the Board who are genuinely miffed as to why the Club hasn't been able to win a premiership under this regime.

But any club that has Ken as its senior coach doesn't seriously care about winning a premiership on their watch. Either that, or they're delusional and incompetent.

It's one thing to be miffed but it seems that doing anything to address the lack of success is a bridge too far.

Well in their defence they've done a lot. They have pretty much moved every chess piece available to them outside of the senior coach. Their determination to stick with the status quo on that front is literally the reason they will never win anything as it currently stands.

Just remember, If it's Hinkley, or if it's Josh Carr with list cloggers as his support staff, this club is going nowhere.

The admin are the problem, and will continue to be the problem for years to come.
Yeah if/when Carr gets the main gig he will be up against it... 🤔 Will he fight the good fight or enjoy the luxury of Koch and the soft ***** on the board.

How ****ing dumb are they? Do they actually watch our games?
