I agree that all the work to get us to AO had nothing to do with Ken, he was just the lucky beneficiary. But the fact that we were playing exciting, entertaining football also had a fair bit to do with why we had good crowds. Just a pity it only lasted a few seasons. If we’d still been at pleurisy park the crowds would still have improved for a while, but would definitely have fallen away again the last few years.

Adelaide Oval has been a huge success for not only the club but also the state as a whole. It’s a big part of the transformation that has taken place over the past decade that has energised the place and seen SA’s image shift from backwater to desirable tourist destination/place to live. I’m sure the Crom fools who protested the move no doubt feel pretty silly about it now (or would just flat out deny that they ever opposed it).

Anyway Ken’s been a big beneficiary of this change and as usual people who either don’t have the bandwidth or haven’t been paying attention or both aren’t able to discern between correlation and causation.

Yeah we were playing exciting dice-rolling footy in 2014 but by 2016 we were high-pressing like our lives depended on it and haven’t looked back since. He probably would’ve been sacked long ago if we had stayed at West Lakes.

So you're saying Tourism SA should knife Koch as Chairman and install Hinkley?

how is saying IF we win tonight we will go in with confidence next week staunch optimism? Isn't that just a bleedingly obvious comment. If Hawthorn are as good as everyone says a win against them will be confidence boosting, and we would fancy ourselves against a Sydney missing their captain who we have a strong record against.

The negativity is just so high on here, basic rational comments are considered staunch optimism.

We’ve consistently failed in the finals against teams that we’ve beaten during the regular season and our prelim record is complete arse. A win against Sydney seems pretty unlikely and would certainly go against the grain of Hinkley-era results.

Lol. We were playing in front of packed out crowds at Adelaide Oval, fresh off a season in which we played finals and won a final, in MARCH 2014. How long can this dickhead live off (dubious) credits from over a decade ago?

Katy Perry's Roar was doing big things as the hit of the summer last time kerny had the boys flying and Adelaide oval pumping.
Julia Gillard, Kevin Rudd and Tony Abbott were joint minister's prime.

Every club (bar Geelong for the last almost 20 yrs) goes through peaks and troughs. That's how it works rockliff you stupid campaigner.

During those "peak" years you're actually meant to achieve something though, not just a bunch of embarrassing finals exits.
I'd be more interested in the crisis that engulfed Brisbane in the 2010s that Rockliff is curiously silent about.

“The architect of Port Adelaide’s revival”, as The Tiser doubles down.
When he arrived we had played in a GF five years earlier and were 8 years from a premiership. He’s still ****ing there 12 YEARS LATER and we haven’t moved any closer to either a GF appearance or a premiership.

Ports revival was Adelaide Oval - ****ing off the sanfl - one club.

From a footy point of view Richardson and Walsh were clearly the ‘architects’

If it's "his best win", why is last week "the playing group's worst loss of the year"? He gets plaudits for the wins. Am I doing this right?
In addition, a win this week should simply be expected, home final after finishing 2nd on the ladder. Not the best win of the year in any context.
You're preaching to the converted.

But this will be his best win if he does,

And I wouldn't even argue with you, that this is a huge indictment on his coaching career.
