They will probably go the new era route and market the hell out of fresh beginnings and splash cash end of 2025 to maybe lure some coaches...but then again, they aren't competent. We could just as easily be business as usual, shuffle out bRyan, farewell emperor ken and Carr comes in largely with no changes.

...then there is the looming threat of a hinkley extension.

Am I the only one who doesn't like DBJ forward? I hear a lot about him, SPP, Evans, McEntee and the like being "pressure forwards"

To me, something seems off about structuring your forwardline around the other team having the ball...
I don't like dbj as a forward.. or defender.. or on the bench... It goes on..

DBJ led the team in Goals + Goal Assists this season and lead our Goal Assists in 2023.

He's not just a pressure forward. He's a good footballer and he's effective at kicking and creating goals.

Pressure forwards aren't a Hinkley special, every team plays forwards who are expected to work hard to pressure ball movement. Hinkley just picks ones that don't do anything the other way.

DBJ isn't one of those. He's a good player.

Feel like DBJ doesn't get the credit he deserves because he's not that x-factor small forward that fans love. He's out most consistent player in that forward line alongside Georgiades

Can't stand him as a player or leader. Went missing in 2 of our 3 finals which is standard DBJ. Would have traded him years ago.

I
I’m done for tonight. It’s too bloody exhausting swimming against the tide with the odd retort against the tsunami of negativity.

Sack Hinkley.

I think the way we fought against the Hawks was impressive. We played tough finals football for 4 quarters & played as a team rather than individuals. But a team playing at home that finished 2nd H&A should beat a team that finished 7th by several goals. Do concede there was only 2 wins difference between the teams though which is unusual.

Port were also supposed to struggle through the final 5 games of this season, and instead they bloody went 5-0.

It is impossible to determine the difficulty of a schedule in terms of opponents when you consider the evenness of the competition from teams 1 through 13 can win any game on their day.

The key is looking at the schedule in terms of breaks between games that are less than 7 days, how many consecutive games away from Adelaide Oval, timing of the bye etc.

It's a very favourable draw when you consider they only have one 5 day break, some of the 6 day breaks are early in the season and against teams who were in the bottom 4 last year, and despite having 3 away games in a row late in the season, they never play two consecutive games away in consecutive weeks. Top it off with a period where they play 5 out of 7 games at home during the middle part of the season when it's a bit more of a slog, and outside of no friday night spots, it's hard to complain.
Interesting take on the fixture

The more I think about it, the more I think that the Josh Carr "succession plan" is nothing more than a back-up plan and an easy way out.

If it looks like we're going to miss the finals next year, then they can just pull the Josh Carr trigger.
Yep, that's why I'm expecting it not to be formalised going into 2025. It's just an out clause sitting in the background to shut up detractors.
