Certified Legendary Thread Sack Hinkley 13 - Another Crack At This

The Hinkley/CD bromance and extracurricular commercial arrangements make it difficult for me to believe that CD is not pro-Hinkley.

Cassisi's public attacks on Tredrea for daring to criticise Hinkley show he is pro-Hinkley.

CD has not been involved in any racing syndicate with Ken for quite some time, well over 12 months.

Cassisi's 'attack' was nearly 2 years ago. A lot has changed in that time.

I have a lot of beliefs about Chris Davies but I don't think he's dumb. So I think he absolutely knows that Hinkley is a problem when it comes down to it.

But I think if Davies had voiced that to the board then Hinkley would have been sacked, but he hasn't.

So my theories are either that Davies is too chummy with Hinkley and likes working with him personally and is willing to take a lower chance at success to maintain it. Alternatively, Davies believes his tenure is tied to Hinkleys and he thinks if he admits that Hinkley sucks, he might get moved on as well in the wash.

I think it's the former.

The last recommendation to the Board when Davies went on the most ridiculous rant stating "Ken is coaching better than he ever has" - August 2023 was just prior to the last extension which was 17 months ago.

The football department needs to be gutted. Richardson has no place on it, Snodon is yesterday's man and has been clearly given a vote of no confidence from the members, Cassisi is an idiot and if Carr is to be the new coach, you don't want his bestest buddy giving clouded judgement on there, Cardone shouldn't be anywhere near the club let alone the football committee and Davies is tied to Hinkley's failed regime as anyone, he can **** off too.
Just like club as a whole, it needs an entire reboot.

I'm tipping knowing how gutless this club is, we will go into the season as normal, then wait and see where we sit mid season.

I'm not expecting any announcements regarding Hinkley or Carr, just business as usual while Ken has another crack.

All I can say is the longer this shit show goes on, the more detached I will become.

We are not Port Adelaide, we are now the Port Power.

At the end of the day if everyone on the footy committee was true to their word and voted with integrity Ken would already be gone.

It's easy to say you aren't supporting Ken to someone who you know isn't supporting Ken.

At least half of them when push comes to shove must have voted to keep him.

So… if Hinkley ever does p¡ss off we are guaranteed Carr?

What if there are better options out there?

Why are we so sure Carr is the guy, especially as he keeps marinating in our current culture and methods with each passing year?

Cripes.

Doesn't Caro often repeat "they are very happy with the football program at Port"? Doesn't leave much room for critical thinking and looking outside the bubble.

As PowerLil posted above, both Cassisi and CD recommended Hinkley's contract be extended in August 2023. Only one full season ago. Nothing in Hinkley's performance has changed since. If they hadn't realised by August 2023 that Daddy Donuts was a loser and not capable of taking us to a flag the 2024 season will have not changed their minds.

Not sure if it was Koch or Davies who referred to our football program as "The envy of many clubs in the competition"
Koch and Richo also both described 2024 as "successful by any measure" at the AGM indicating that they had spoken about it and decided that was a good line to go with.

If even half the stuff Chewy says is accurate it just highlights how monumentally unprofessional we are.

That's because they are unprofessional. The way they run the footy dept is shit. I actually believe their non-footy department stuff is pretty bloody good, but they have no idea when it comes to handling a footy department. That's what happens when the decision makers are not footy people.

They were never not going to extend Ken after the 13 game win streak. I don't agree with their premise, but that was their logic.

2 under-delivering finals series later brings us to this point.

And rightfully so, AFL players all over the country go to sleep at night dreaming of being coached by the likes of Jason Williams, Luke Kelly, Matthew Lobbe and Hamish Hartlett.

They completely ignored years of evidence and extended him on the back of a winning streak that was just as much luck of the fixture as it was coaching/talent. The week before the start of the streak we were soundly beaten by non-finalist Camry Crows at AO and the week after we were thrashed by Carlton. They're like the kid with the shiny new toy that ignores everything they had beforehand.

I'd have gleefully sacked Hinkley in the presser after the 13th win.

They just don't understand what a successful football club looks like at all and every single person who was on the footy committee at that time should have seppeku'd themselves in late September 2023. But there's no accountability at the Care Bears Football Club.

That fukcin' winning streak with Whateley starring as head cheerleader put us back years lol

"Passed the exam with flying colours" "They are Kenny's boys" ..

That little sh¡t, honestly.

99.9% of the time he’s Mr Switzerland, always on the fence, leaning back in his chair and pursing his lips while actively listening to and never judging the opinions of others.

But when it comes to Port and Hinkley, all of a sudden he’s a vicious shock jock with his “SHAME SHAME SHAME!” and “YOU DICKHEAD!” and <SOMETHING ALAN JONES WAS ACCUSED OF^>.

^Being a poor judge of coaching talent (Jones’ criticism of former Wallabies coach Eddie Jones was widely panned).

Before the game against Geelong at Kardinia Park last year, I caught up with this bloke who’s the biggest Who are you going to get-er I’ve ever met (he’s been saying that to me since 2018) and that night he had already started on the “Who’s better than Josh Carr?”

As far as untried assistant coaches are concerned i think Josh Carr is as good of an option as any others currently on the market. Would i rather Josh Carr than Adem Yze or Andrew McQualter? Yes.

However, if we went back further to Adam Kingsley or Craig McRae, i'd have definitely gone for one of them in hindsight. Admittedly both those blokes took over pretty talented lists but i think we've got enough talent here for an untried assistant to have a similar impact right from the start.
