As far as untried assistant coaches are concerned i think Josh Carr is as good of an option as any others currently on the market. Would i rather Josh Carr than Adem Yze or Andrew McQualter? Yes.

However, if we went back further to Adam Kingsley or Craig McRae, i'd have definitely gone for one of them in hindsight. Admittedly both those blokes took over pretty talented lists but i think we've got enough talent here for an untried assistant to have a similar impact right from the start.

Kingsley was the one.

Always get “ewwr brotha, brotha ewwr!” vibes whenever someone around here holds up their choke in the semi final against the eventual premier as disqualifying, or evidence of being no better than what we have now.

Funny how Kornes after laughing the suggestion of Adam Kingsley off proceeds to tell David King 12 months later that of all his teammates Kingers made the most impression on him during his playing days, Adam apparently questioned some of his actions on field including the diving "Is this how you wanna be remembered"..

Who ya gonna get eh.

Kingsleys intensity and dedication to the cause is exaaaactly what this club needed, add to that that he's a former player, almost seemed meant to be.

But no no, bet the club didn't even raise an eyebrow, why would you when you have the mastermind Kenneth Hinkley at the helm?!!

The judas's that are responsible for the shitshow of Ken can all take a long walk off a short plank....their legacy won't be quickly forgotton.

Here we are in 2025 with Hinkley still at the helm in another contract year.

It will probably go something like this.

That should've been a good call from the club to cut off constantly being asked "when you extending Ken every week?" Also to cut off, are you sacking Ken every week if the season isn't going well.

But in August, the message should've been "Ken will finish out the season, and based on that we'll make a decision on offering him another contract".

Not rush to sign him, then have to put off announcing the contract extension because we kept losing after they resigned him. And they didn't want to announce a new contract on the back of a loss.

Yep, instead we get stupid Koch and his big mouth.

If this report is accurate there is no official succession plan, just business as usual, so if Hinkley makes finals he could well be extended.

Josh is staying port mainly for family reasons, he's not desperate to be the next coach. They all look so comfortable in their positions.

“Josh Carr is highly likely to succeed Ken Hinkley as Port Adelaide's senior coach in 2026,” Morris told SEN Breakfast.

“Certainly, when I spoke to Port Adelaide’s football boss, Chris Davies a while ago, he said that Josh Carr is a senior coach in waiting.

“But there'll be no Kirribilli agreement here, there’s no Buckley/Malthouse or no Roos/Goodwin arrangement that will make this formal.

While some believe that was a sign that Carr had a handshake deal in place at Port Adelaide, Morris says he simply wants to remain in Adelaide for family reasons.

“The reason that Josh Carr is staying at Port Adelaide is not primarily because of this potential to take over from Ken Hinkley. It's for family reasons.

Why is Snowden still on the football committee after hes been voted off the board?

Cassisi isn't on the Board but is part of the footy committee - point being you don't need to be a director to be on any of the specific committees.

I suspect Snowdon will leave once Carr is in the top job.

I wanted ken gone like most before his last contract extension, but the jury is still out on kingsley as a coach in my opinion. Prelim final and semi final but in straight sets is a good start in your first 2 years I guess but ken and others like buckley and Cameron were just as good in thier first couple of years in 3 years time if Kingsley hasn't made a gf he will be a failure like Ken and looking at the profile of the gws list and their inability to hold on to players that's a good chance of happening

If Buckley wanted to return to Adelaide to coach and it were up to me I would have a serious discussion with him.

My reasons are, he had to deal with Eddie and Malthouse, he had to deal with the biggest supporter base in Australia and was at a Victorian club which was always in the spot light, a pressure cooker situation that Hinkley could never endure. He also had Collingwood a kick out of winning a Premiership.

He also has the experience and also knows the passion and expectation of Port Adelaide supporters. A good fit for our club.

Just my opinion.

It's actually understated to how close GWS were to winning the last two premierships.

the prelim against the pies in 2023 i actually thought they were the better team, a couple 50/50 calls went against them late and they lost by 1 point. (Shades of us in 2014, heartbreaking and probably should've won but an admirable effort to get as far as they did).

And then last year in the semi final they were all over the eventual premier Brisbane and up by a massive margin in the 3rd quarter. Despite momentum clearly with Brisbane for most of the last 1.5 quarters, if Daniels doesn't play on after a free kick was awarded in the goal square and stuff up what should've been an easy goal they probably win that game and i don't think Geelong had a good match up for an on fire Hogan. They were probably a good chance to beat Geelong and Sydney in consecutive weeks.

START THE CARR
one thing you can gaurantee is that Carr is destined to be a failure, first because he's just a continuation of what we already have and thats why he's been selected to be the next coach, secondly because he sat there like a lemming being a good little boy for the Hinkley cult in order to secure himself a senior coaching position, that tells me everything i need to know about him, he's more willing to play the game than to win the premiership and that is exactly how he will conduct himself as a coach. Its more about preservation than winning and who wants to see another Hinkley in charge. Not me, not ever. If Josh Carr wasnt a former premiership player with the club i doubt he would even be here, everything stinks about it. I cant see the inner workings of the club but i sure can smell it coming out the window.

My bleak run of the green for the year.

We will play pretty good football.
We will get to finals and maybe win one.
Hinkley will get a new three year contract with a fourth option.

Obviously I want Hinkley sacked but this is the state of affairs down at Alberton.
