Someone as insecure and paranoid as him going in above another senior coach in a watchover director of coaching role would be the ultimate irony.

This is great news. Yes, it could've/should've happened years ago but it didn't and this is now the best we could reasonably expect.

Let me address some of the negativity still remaining:

2025 will be a wasted year
I don't buy that. What player drops their intensity because the coach won't be there next year? If anything, the opposite effect will happen as it does when an interim coach is appointed and players realise they are not only playing for this year but also auditioning for their futures.

Also, Ken's superannuation year is the last chance for those players who "play for the coach" (if that really is a thing) to do so and so a steelier resolve might come out of this. The enduring criticism of Ken is that he couldn't get the players playing finals like there was no tomorrow. Maybe this will help.

Josh Carr is tainted by the same brush
There is not a shred of evidence to support this theory. None. Zilch.
It is not the role of a professional assistant coach to criticise the head coach publicly. Name one who has? The effect of doing so would feed the media, distract the team and be detrimental to the club. Josh is too smart and on a promise- so why would he commit professional suicide?

Ken won't be as intense
Maybe not in Rounds 1-5 but.... history will judge Ken by 2025. If we miss the 8, he will be remembered as a failed coach. If we have another failed finals campaign, he will be remembered as a good coach who couldn't take the final step despite lots of opportunity. If we win the flag, he leaves a legacy.

Like Trump, the remaining part of his term has nothing to do with getting reelected/reappointed- but it will define his legacy.

Aside from the 2013 season and that MCG finals win against Collingwood and the 2014 run, he can go and get stuffed.

Would possibly add the 2020 and 21 QF wins over Geelong, just cause I hate those bastards, but they were after his expiry date of 2018 and were followed up by a disappointing PF loss in 20 and an utter embarrassment in 21.

Expanding on this, we announce that he has been offered a role from 2028 for the Tassie team and as such we have agreed to extend until the end of 2027….a good club looks after its own
