You realise we've had Ken Hinkley as our senior coach for 13 years right? Do you honestly think that dumbass has some special insight into the game that Darren Cahill doesn't because he played a few games for Geelong 30 years ago? Coaching is an art and it's absolutely transferable across sports, even if it's not the done thing in professional sports.

Agree completely.

Especially given there is a team of coaches in the modern era. Winning is about mentality, and Cahill has coached players who are noted for their relentless pursuit of success and ability to execute when it matters. Notably his dad, who he's stated was an enormous influence on him, is the greatest footy coach of all time and coached teams who displayed a relentless pursuit of success and and executed when it mattered.

We could assemble the Avengers of footy strategy, tactics and strength and conditioning, but if we've got a bumbling loser in the big chair, we're never winning anything.

It is an absolute waste to have someone of that calibre at your disposal but you can't utilise his skills because you might upset a lifetime loser Geelong blow-in.
