I don't think Hinkley is a narcissist. Deluded self belief isn't narcissism. Narcissism involves excessive self love and the need for admiration. That's more Mark Williams than Ken Hinkley. Koch is probably a narcissist.
I just know I am sick of his smug, trust me I know better than youse do, attitude. He really thinks he is a talented coach.

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) involves a pattern of self-centered, arrogant thinking and behavior, a lack of empathy and consideration for other people, and an excessive need for admiration. Others often describe people with NPD as cocky, manipulative, selfish, patronizing, and demanding.

I don't know about you but i think he hits a number of the criteria. I bolded the traits he displays. Not much left.

Don't think Hinkley is any of those things. He's just a bush league level coach with not much charm, charisma or intelligence. He is reasonably likeable and somewhat approachable, which he plays on, but he knows he's on his last legs as Ports head coach and he's holding on for his final payday. It's an indictment on the board, Koch and KT that it has actually come to this.

People underestimate the play dumber than you actually are type. Ken likes to come across as just a good honest, salt of the earth type country bloke but i think he is more manipulative than that. That doesn't mean clever. But even toddlers can manipulate. He has probably found that he can get people to do what he wants with a bit of innocent honest country bloke more. He is a used car salesman. They don't need to be smart just cunning.

Hinkley's opening comment re 'Last man standing' and "I'm still standing" are the verbal equivalent of the one or two finger salute.
The fact that Hinkley is still standing is testament to the incompetence of KT, Koch and the board. It's not something that Hinkley should be proud of or rubbing in the members' faces.

He has done plenty of them. It's all about him and always has been. His words at the b&f were very "Custer's last stand". Poor old brave Ken. Ultimately, the consistent poor results will determine his fate. Fancy not meeting the very low kpi targets with such a leg up and undeserved contract extension.

Custer had poorly trained and equipped men at the Battle of the Little Bighorn and had no answer for an opposition with superior tactics. I can see why Hinkley would identify with that.

I wonder if he realises that Custer didn't survive his last stand? The name's a bit of a clue.

“No, he wasn’t a good general, he was arrogant and foolhardy. And he got massacred because he took a single battalion against 2000 angry Indians.”

“2000 Indians? How many men for Custer?”

“211.”

“I like this General Custer.”

“He was a murderer who fell in love with his own legend. And his troopers died for it.”

“I think this is a very good death.”

Remember the "honest ken," tag attributed for awhile in the early days.
The media played along nicely, and are unbelievably still being manipulated to a degree to this day. However the " honest Ken " tag is no longer used for obvious reasons. The media may not be so "accommodating" as in the past but then again, many journos interstate don't care, some others are not that too bright and othets have hidden agendas.

Quite correct in that in the end, his results will determine his fate. It is unfortunate that while moving towards that eventual outcome, damage would have been done that will take time to correct well after both Ken and Koch has removed themselves from any responsibility of the damage. Or so they think.

I could be wrong and I hope I am but I see this time, this 150th year, as a line in the sand.
As a Port supporter, a person is on way side of a line or the other.
One side are the happy clappers who basically accept everything about the club without question and abuse those who don't as being bad supporters. They are the entitled ones, believing club culture manifested itself out of thin air for themselves to enjoy. The royals as I call them, "never explain, never complain".
Then there are those who hold to account, every position at the club. The higher the position on or off the field, the more scrutiny, the more expectation of excellence. The " we don't take sh!t from anyone" supporter.

Puting aside the manipulative, narcissistic personalities within the club, without being too dramatic, I think what is at stake is how the club will be defined in the future. The dominant supporter base we impact on that definition.

I plan on being one of the gate keepers to the ethos and traditions of the Port Adelaide Football Club because any change to that is not necessary. And for no other reason than I don't take sh!t from anyone.

There we were. All for one. One for all. Ready to fight the fight. ..... 2,000 against 200.

.
Boy did we give those 200 a lesson.

Honestly how bad is this. Starting from the top.

We have a league that is rigged in every way to support teams based in Victoria, where the grand final is played at Victorian teams home every year.

The league also has extremely poor officiating, poor rule changes and a trade and free agency period that assists only the recently successful clubs.

Ontop of this, our club, Port Adelaide has a coach with a gun held to the head of the club, with a list which is throwing out it's best talent on the vibe of the thing. All while the board and administration outwardly go to war with members over their differences of opinion. Breaking with traditions held dear by supporters in what we all knew would turn out to be a catastrophic move. We also have facilities which are becoming dilapidated and failing to compete with other clubs, who get given grants for their new facilities while we get told to eat cake, despite pouring millions into community programs.

And wait there is more.

We happen to reside in a state where everything is deliberately rigged against us to feed our hard earned straight into the coffers of a league that hates us so much that it places extreme limitations on our ability to play our best sides in their league all while pocketing every cent we make to go to the clubs that demand these sanctions be placed on us in the first place.

Why. ****ing. Bother.

This shit is completely pointless, **** it.

There is enough talent on this forum to make some noise and be noticed - they have just put energy into the wrong areas. The prison bars, identity, the decision not to sack the coach, are all smaller parts of the larger issue. Need control of the club and we need to make money.

It's unfortunate, that the only way to bring them all down is to hurt the club, memberships, attendances is all we have to fight with.

Our club has been hijacked and there's very little we can do when it's the AFL & SANFL that are pulling our strings.

Sack the whole ****ing lot of them, including the two bludgers Voss and Bassett, that no other club wants.

KT said in his August presser that he believes Ken will still be coach in 2021, if this is true then I'm not going on this ride.

Thanks for the fond memories of 2004 Choco, that's all we have now.

Lesson here, don't let outsiders into an organization that is unique and has a rich proud history, because they can only destroy it, how could they even come close.
How could we ever of expected non Port Adelaide people, to understand the traditions of a club and a supporter base that understood each other.

It's so hard to stand back feeling helpless while The great Port Adelaide Football club is getting systematically r*ped.

Ken at the B&F.
There's a lot of people that don't like me atm.

Now why would that be Ken?
Co-captains?
No finals?
Good players leaving?
Lack of skills?
Mind boggling selections?
7 years to achieve that?
Now an extra year to rinse and repeat.

Ken Hinkley, you deserved to be sacked and you are lucky we have dumb arses in charge.

Richmond are the only team in the last ten years to have won a flag (2017) without making finals the previous season. They had however played finals in the three seasons prior to that. Even the Bulldogs made the finals the season before their 2016 fairytale flag from 7th. Most flag winners in the last ten years have played finals in at least the three seasons prior.

This idea of Hinkley's that we don't need to be good enough to make finals because one year it's going to finally click and we'll not only be good enough to make finals but we'll go all the way to a flag is ludicrous.

I'd have much less issue with the whole "we would rather make the right decisions that will get us a premiership than just sneak in and make up numbers in finals" argument if:
1. They didn't literally say the exact opposite thing two months ago when it was clearly stated that finals was the minimum acceptable performance
2. They actually were making the right decisions
