Ken had no pathway to being GC head coach except by Port’s explicit consent. If we told Ken he’s seeing out his contract, GC stil hire Dew and Ken is jobless or in a weak negotiating position a year later.

It was an abysmal failure on Koch and KT’s part to fu** that up in the first place, so why wouldnt they repeat it. No accountability.
It was a complete **** up, no doubt. And I think was a lot to do with ego on Kochies part, not wanting to be made to look stupid by gold coast of all clubs. Am excellent example why he shouldn't be allowed anywhere near football decisions.
2 years later though and right now Ken being at the club makes everyone's job more difficult, from retaining members, to on field performance to signing sponsors (outside of family of course).
Sacking Ken at the end of the current contract or ideally earlier is the easy sugar hit that will give everything else a bump. Choosing the right next coach will be the hard part. Hopefully targeting the draft and bringing in people like Morris makes the place more appealing to high level applicants at the end of 2020/21.
My point is that without a significant improvement in on field performance I can't see the club wanting to hold on to Ken. It's at a point now where apart from the financial cost, sacking Ken is the easier decision than holding on to him.

Given that recently the club has seemingly gone out of their way to double down on stupid though, who knows
Hope is a dangerous thing

I thought this particular tweet warranted a second post, in this thread:

This is my favourite (or is that least favourite) one.

The contrast between the success of Timmy and the lack of success of Hinkley says it all.

I'd imagine a little club from Alberton might get overawed having to play in one of those big stadiums though, Ballarat is a much more appropriate location.

every time i see this quote i get koch in my head with his droll, slack jawed expression saying that line
and it physically puts me back in the time i used to work in an office in the CBD and i'd get up every morning and put sunrise on the tv and eat my pb and toast and its all just very very depressing

Geez definitely not the trajectory KT said we are building towards 🤔

Realistically that’s probably not much more than 15K 12 game members, surely that’s a pretty big wake up call to the club. Maybe they’ll finally take notice of what the members (now ex members) are saying.

Not a good sign for our likely attendance next year, any one know what our numbers have been this stage of the last few years for comparison?

Membership is one thing, bums on seats is another. From memory i think we need around 35,000 per game to break even financially, with membership dropping they will struggle to meet that target.

I suppose considering they have set the bar so low, may as well go all the way with average membership and attendances.

Next month's tally will show a much better indication, a lot of people would've put memberships on hold until after the draw got released.
Pretty sure Dec is the deadline for the non auto renewals to decide.

Pay by invoice due date is Friday the 13th ☺, December

If he wins the flag next year I'd be ok with it. But that's the absolute rock bottom minimum. And given what he has had to work with, 1 flag in 8 years shouldn't be considered much higher than slightly better than expected.
tenor.gif This is the only flag ken will be a part of next year.

Anybody heard from olde Hinks lately? Is he in hiding?
He failed the IQ test at Harvard and has been kept after school to learn how to spell it.
