The season hasn't started yet, for Christ's sake. Besides, Hinkley's Port has missed Finals after a 11-4 start just two years ago. Nothing has been "backed up" so far, and it won't be until the end of the season.

The thing about that article is it misses the bit David King said seconds after. If you can't afford Foxtel it went something like "I have Port Adelaide in my 8, you can't help but fall in love with Port." And before you come back and tell me Kingy doesn't know anything, I'm just making the point Ilias that you are full of bile when it comes to your Port commentary. Its been a few months already (January) that David King predicted Port to make the 8, noting things at the club are on a knife's edge due to Hinkley's tenure. But he likes the kids, and what we have done.

A few months earlier in October, he also questioned Ports ability to get the best out of recruits stating in his assessment of Port that we are quote " a graveyard for traded players over the last five years......where elephants go to die in terms of traded players". He also said on radio he no longer knows who Port are any more. A club that seemed satisfied finishing middle range or just making finals.

i think both statements reflect on a senior coach who has been in the position for 7 years with a win loss ratio of 55% and a Chairman who resides in Sydney and who has on numerous occasions in the media deliberately devalued the ethos of the Port Adelaide Football Club when it suits him with descriptions of who HE thinks we are.

This is a very distinct possibility. If we only play say 14-16 games this year, I bet Koch wouldn't have the balls to still hold Hinkley to the finals or bust clause.

Agree with all of the above, but I will add that Koch is as big an issue as kern, and quite possibly an even bigger one.
One will eventually be sacked, we just don't know when, whilst the other, unless there is an unlikely revolt by the majority of the board, will almost certainly only give up the role of his own volition.

I made a comment some weeks ago when the game in China not going ahead was slowly becoming a threat and how by not playing this game over there may help us win an extra game or two, and although the comment appeared to be received as 'tasteless' by some and still will be, again I say that this virus pandemic may in fact help Hinkley's keep his job. Imagine that, catching the infection and fronting up to 2021 with Hinkley still at the helm.

I’m actually curious when did Port supporters start accepting mediocrity?

It actually has everything to do with being a happy clapper. Ken Hinkley is measured on 1 final in 5 years. Good clubs hold people accountable for failing to do their job. And so do supporters or so I thought
