Kane wasnt questioning it at all. he was asking richmond fans if they would have an issue with him coaching at port 12 weeks after saying he was done coaching and should still be at Richmond. You lack of listening skills is startling. (note, Kane certainly has some bullshit takes at times, but this isnt one of them)

Not only do i think Hardwick would be great for port if we can get him, but i also think port is one of the only jobs he would consider. If you are burnt out like he says, then you dont want to go to a club that needs building. you want a list that is already primed to go.
Did Hardwick actually say he was burnt out though or was that just the media?

I thought he just said that he realised he couldn't take that team any further?

He didn't use the words "burnt out" from memory. He said that he needs a break.

I thought he just said that he realised he couldn't take that team any further?

That was my understanding of the "I've cooked a sausage 1000 ways but I can't find 1001" comment.

But what do they mean by "successful"?

Port Adelaide news: Ken Hinkley refuses to buy into conversations on his future

Ken Hinkley has been put forward as a replacement for Damien Hardwick at Richmond. But the Power coach isn’t having any of it.

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley is refusing to buy into conversations on his future in the aftermath of Damien Hardwick’s resignation this week.

Pundits have suggested Hinkley, who is out of contract at season’s end, potentially is a good fit for Hardwick’s former position at Richmond, while the three-time Tigers premiership mentor has been linked as an option for the Power.

Asked whether he was happy at Alberton and wanted to coach the club again next year, Hinkley said: “It’d be foolish (to buy into the question) because any comment I put out there now can be portrayed slightly differently to what it is”.

“Our team has said right from the start of the year that we need to have a successful football season, the dangers with getting distracted in that are not something I’m going to entertain.”

To be fair to Ken, that's a good response. He really can't say anything because the clik-frenzy media will twist it any way they want to run with a narrative.

Nice to hear someone say we need to have a successful season. It feels like a while since we had that kind of expectation at Alberton.

The question is as stated above, what do they mean by successful?

plenty of teams havent even made the finals in the last 11 years. they have changed a lot of coaches but it hasnt worked for them. what makes you 100% sure it will work for us. under hinkley we have missed out on a gf by less than a kick twice. made finals 5/10 most likely 6/11. He hasnt been a bad coach. but he hasnt won a flag, but neither have a lot of other coaches.

im not saying keep hinkley. im all for going in another direction. if they dont sign him i hope they do get the right person. and if that is josh carr then so be it. Lets be honest though. not a single one of you can say with absolute certainty that you know the ins and outs of what is happening, because you arent there at all.

If they do sign him again im not going to be jumping ship, or spitting the pure hate that some of you guys do. some of the things people say on here are disgusting, its embarassing that you call yourselves port supporters with the crap you spout against the club. it is possible to be critical without resorting to childish insults and name calling.
No team In AFL,VFL history has kept a coach this long without making a GF,if a coach hasn't made a GF at a club In 10 years,it's not gonna happen, that's why you change coach

Totally agree with the sentiments expressed. But the good moderators might need to consider the mental health of the dedicated posters who have pursued like zealots our head coach and club. Perhaps a transition period to begin with of like only 1 post per page would help them adjust their habit and maintain their interest in football and help with life balance

These are the stats for AFL coaches that haven't yet or didn't make a GF at the same club as one continuous stint.

Ken Hinkley is killing this coaching stat. He has coached 234 games with Port Adelaide and the body count is still rising.
Brad Scott coached an under nourished North Melbourne to 211 games before he got the sack. He is now clocking up games over at Essendon.

The Cows allowed Neil Craig to coach 166 before they pulled the plug.
At one stint with the Bulldogs, Rodney Eade was allowed to coach 162 before they pulled the pin never making it to a GF. However, he did make a GF at the stop before at Sydney.
Dean Laidley at West Coast with 149
Terry Wallace at the Bulldogs with 148. He didn't fair much better at Richmond.
Chris Fagan is chugging along at the Brisbane Lions with 146 and hoping to get the monkey off the back this year.
Ross Lyon at St Kilda with 121 but he eventually made a GF at Freo. He's back with St Kilda.
Brett Ratten got to 120 with the Carlton Blues and they turfed him. He only made a SF, not a PF. He's taken over at Richmond.

Bill Stephen with Fitzroy at 115. During that stint, his best was 9th. He did make a SF later back with Fitzroy.
Michael Voss got to 109 games at Brisbane. He is coaching at Carlton.
Stuart Dew has not taken Gold Coast past 12th place clocking up 115 games.

I have formulated a plan to help people with their life balance by stopping them from posting so much in this thread.

Come with me here because it's a radical plan.

Perhaps we could ...

Sack Hinkley
