We aren't beating Geelong. We probably aren't beating GWS. We haven't beaten Freo away in 10 years. Richmond probably need to win to make the 8.

After which one of these losses will they announce Hinkley's new contract?
Before the Richmond game.
Kane Cornes reckons Hinkley has been a verbal agreement with PAFC to extend his contract.

We’re stuck with him.

Hopefully he'll be fired by the AFL for getting involved in the docs assesment of allir
i dont think he got directly involved but as we all know the club is pretty much a propaganda team for the ken hinkley foundation so its most probably the case of the doctor knowing that if he put allir through a test he would be out for this week so he took the Ken Hinkley option

It’d be just so Port that,

• 11 seasons of failure can’t contribute to getting rid of him,

• The gambling industry syndicate entanglements with fellow staff and current players can’t contribute to getting rid of him,

• The country footy club nepojobs and perks for son, daughter and son-in-law can’t contribute to getting rid of him,

• But a freak headclash between two of his players and subsequent flippancy to their health and welfare may indirectly raise heat to levels that are finally intolerable to the club.

Ken's greyhound instincts kicked in and he attempted to follow Lachie Jones down into the rooms with a .22 before being restrained by staff

Maybe the club said to Ken at 14 & 2 that an extension was going to be a formality, just keep it going. Now at 14 & 5 with a possibility of going 14 & 10 (worst case) the club may be walking back on the formality.
My understanding was that contract discussions were not going to commence until August.
However the fact he has nowhere to go & if the club had any balls they should wait until the seasons done & conduct a full review - then if Ken is the right person offer a contract extension with KPI’s.
But the fact he got out coached by Nicks (twice in a season) with what many deem a “poorer squad” should speak volumes to the Port board.
We need a broom through the football department.

I will never understand like others, why any time frame was provided for contract talks. Surely it is not unreasonable for the club to say to Ken "You have been here for 10 years. Not won a flag or made a GF, have a below 50% record against top 8 clubs in 9 of the last 10 years, we finished 11th last year after talking up Premiership aspirations and won 2 finals in 8 years. Can we just wait and see how your 11th season at the helm concludes before making any decision on a further contract ?"
Dwayno was talking today about coach of the year saying that winning 2 finals in the year is a good starting point.

Has Ken ever won 2 in a year?

If now which coaches have and how often?

Yeah 2014. Vs Richmond @ home EF and vs fremantle in Perth in a Semi.. we subsequently went on to lose a close prelim vs Hawthorn at the MCG in a game we dominated in inside 50s and shots at goal but lost (classic ken) all the pats on the back after that loss was the start of this mediocre ethos he installed into this club.

We shouldn't have even gone into that series entering a elimination final when top 4 looked certain a month before, but classic ken style we blew it and finished 5th.

Like I said in a previous post , he's choked harder than Chocco ever did over his illustrious career but according to his media wanking mates he's a godsend to this club.

Verbal agreement. Haha you know those things where you’ve got a multiple premiership winning coach approaching the back end of his tenure where the club and coach are totally comfortable with each other?
Kane is full of s**t
Koch and Ken live in a world where stability is just as good as multiple flags so...

I can see it now, we'll probably eek out an extremely unconvincing win against GWS after 4 straight losses and the club will strike and announce through the media (likely Kane) "Ken signs on until 2025"

Just for the laugh imagine if we're on a 5 game losing streak at that point and they roll out donuts for a press conference to announce another 3 years

season 8 angry audience GIF

My sense of time has been all distorted due to the eternity that has been the Ken Hinkley era, but aren't we in year 4 or 5 of that "we copied Richmond's homework but didn't learn how they got to the answer" 3 premierships in 5 years Chasing Greatness crap?

No one is going to be held accountable to a metric the club set for themselves and haven't gotten near meeting are they?

Sack this loser from the club, and send those campaigners Koch and Richardson with him... flipping madness that it's run this long

Kane's assertion of a verbal contract is just his way of walking back his claims he has already signed.

The beauty of a verbal contract is that, unless explicitly stated in front of witnesses, has zero proof it ever took place and at best becomes a he said/she said.

My guess, is there isn't even a verbal contract, in fact, there hasn't been any discussion on contracts to this point. The media sycophants that cup Hinkley's donuts tried a 'bully-ball' approach to get the club to blink and, to their credit (I assume), they have held firm.

Keep sticking fat, let this charlatan run to the end of this deal and start fresh with Carr in 2024.

Surely a verbal accounts for nothing ala Terry Wallace/ Paul Roos.

I can assure you all no verbal agreement has been made, all that's happened, is they have agreed to sit down by the end of August and discuss what next year and beyond might look like.
Everything is still on the table from a Ken extension, a succession plan and no Ken at all. But reality is your board won't sack ken altogether if he makes another prelim that's my take. If it completely goes down hill from here and he doesn't win a final I think he is gone. If he makes a prelim or the grand final he stays.
