Grav is getting the 2 X 4 as we speak.

Apologies for my delayed acceptance speech but it takes a long time to take in all of the (much deserved) praise and congratulations.

I’d firstly like to thank Cadsky for recruiting me into the Sweet FA and secondly for playing me in my rightful spot at FF. I’d also like to acknowledge my forebears who made me genetically predisposed to dominating qooty in general and the shirtfront in particular. I’d like also to thank my teammates but, let’s face it, they’ve got the FF they deserve.

Thanks.
I always said that you're proud of the fact that you're so humble.

Congrats on the Fred

It is too late now

You have already upset the Boss Lady

Congrats on the Fred
I had to go the humble route if only due to time constraints. I had a twenty five minute set of opening remarks but ClarkeM wouldn’t give up any of his limelight…

EKA MEDAL

The Season 37 EKA Medal winner is…

myblueroan

From the Old Boys skipper, Tigerturbulance:

myblueroan made a big impression when she cantered into Spotswood for the first time with her mane flowing in the breeze and her nostrils flaring. The first time I saw her at preseason training kicking the qooty off all four hoofs I knew we had something special. MBR has been a great addition to the Old Boys and been present all season in team PM, match threads and across SFA media. Coming in as OOBs 4th most active poster in a team full of quality posters, MBR has averaged 61 posts a match thread, a great effort in her rookie season.

On field MBR started in the Forward Pocket because of her ability to kick off all four hoofs scoring 27 qoals, making her OOB's second highest scorer for the season. As of round 17 MBR has accumulated 70 kicks, 11 Marks, 43 HB, 14 tackles, 27 qoals and 626 DT.

Admittedly with all this success our rookie started demanding some extras such as a luxurious stable to Spotswood and the addition of carrot cake to the Dining Rooms menu. As proof of how highly we rated MBR both these demands were meet.

Baghdad Bombers vs West Coast Wonders

Man, talk about at heartbreaker.
With their season potentially on the line, the Bombers headed into their Thursday night clash with top four hopefuls the West Coast Wonders under the sweltering lights of Abdu Prison.
The Bombers got off to a flying start, kicking the first three goals of the match, and as the match went on, they held a commanding 28 point early in the third quarter.
But then...
DenieD, HARPSichord and LukeParkerno1 realised that they were on a qooty field, and with less than 10 minutes to play, had clawed their way back to a 4 point deficit with just 9 minutes to play. croweater 41 put the Wonders in front for a hot minute before MayTheNorthBeWithU goaled to retake the lead for Baghdad. A game saving tackle from dogs105 resulted in a LukeParkerno1 goal to switch the lead again.
The Bombers immediately tried to rebound, and Jabba73 found himself alone on the forward flank with just seconds on the clock. He went for home with the clock ticking down...and just missed.
The Bomber dream was over for Season 37.

Season 37 Round 18

Las Vegas Bears vs Sin City Swamprats

Oh boy, where to begin with this game.

Needing a win to get back into the top 8, the Las Vegas Bears played host to top 4 hopefuls the Sin City Swamprats in a Firday Night Las Carraras derby. Now, if you're thinking that the description sounds suspiciously similar to the game from the previous night...well that's where the similarities end.

For most of the first three quarters, we had a see-sawing contest. The lead changed hands around 10 times in the first 70 minutes of the game alone in a high scoring contest.

And then the floodgates opened.

The Rats scored 11 unanswered goals from the tail end of the third quarter to the halfway mark of the final quarter. The Bears were able to peg one back, but the Rats had the game won long before the end.

Dragons FFC vs Fighting Furies

Ah yes, the TJASTA Memorial Brony Week match.

But seriously, this was the first match on what would turn out to be a bad Sunday for people with unhealthy cardiovascular systems. All three games would be decided by an average margin of 2.67.

Once again, we've got a couple of teams with their seasons on the brink. Dragons FFC and the Fighting Furies decided that Friendship isn't Magic, and tried anything and everything to get back into the 8.

The Furies hit hard early, lead by a three goal opening quarter from star full-forward ShaunDuggan. Then, little by little, the Dragons started clawing their way back.

The Black and Green army won the second quarter, but the Furies held firm during the third. But in the fourth...cometh the moment, cometh the Bonz. The Furious Feline had one of the best final quarters of the season. Every time the Furies goaled, Bonz would kick one right back. With minutes on the clock, Supersuns put the Dragons in front for the first time since the first quarter.

And the game still wasn't over.

NaturalDisaster and Feraligatr had late missed shots, but with seconds left, ShaunDuggan had the ball in his hands, and his ninth goal of the afternoon looked almost deadset. Enter T2B_, battered by Duggan all day, who nails him with a crushing tackle. Dragons FFC escaped with a win to remember.

Gold City Royals vs Ophidian Old Boys

An encounter that was just as torrid as the punters expected.

What a contest it was. The Royals established their feudal dominance in the opening quarter, with a surprising three goal burst from unsung rookie Pedro helping the bourgeoisie to a 26 point lead at the first break.

The margin blew out to 40 points just minutes into the second term, but the snakebitten Old Boys shook off their sluggish start to claw the margin back to 16 by the main break. Then the Royals fired back again; a big third quarter saw the home side entering the home stretch with a 4 goal lead.

But...where there's a will, there's Harvey Manfrenjensenden.

The OOBS sharpshooter kicked his fifth goal to stem the tide at the end of the third, cut the margin to two goals with his sixth, and then put the OOBS out in front with minutes to play.

But as in everything, Harvey's Yin had a Yang; Brenton Davy booted his fifth for the afternoon in red time to put the Royals over the line by a solitary point, as well as claiming top spot heading into the final week of the Home and Away season.

Mount Buller Demons vs East Side Hawks

...You know, I mentioned it earlier, but there's a running theme of teams starting hot before a tight finish across this whole round.

Much like the Furies and Royals, the East Side Hawks sped away from their Demonic opponents in the opening term of their clash. Tarkyn_24 sprinted away with 3 goals in the 1st quarter before the Dees quickly shut him down. By half time, the Demons had only trimmed the 4 goal deficit to 3 goals.

Then the second half happened, and that's when the game really gets interesting.

The lead started see-sawing, with the lead changing 4 times in the last 15 minutes of the game. First the Dees wrenched back the lead, then the Hawks wrested it back. Proper Gander seemed to have scored the sealer, but no-one was checking jackenny, and the Hawks escaped with a win that should've been bigger.

Hey sim team, just off the record, reckon you can make sure any and all future rounds don't have 3 games with similar endings next season?

Baghdad Bombers vs Coney Island Warriors

Finally! A Round 18 match without a close finish!

This was an all out toying of the Bombers by the Warriors. 14 seperate goal scorers, 4 players with 110+ DT scores, and those 4 players all had 30+ disposals. This wasn't just a regulation victory against the resident cellar dwellars, this resembled the Harlem Globetrotters picking apart the Washington Generals.

Not to dismiss any of the Bombers efforts; they managed to peg back the margin to just 6 points with 10 minutes to play, and MayTheNorthBeWithU put on one of the best ruck displays we've seen all season with 37 disposals and 23 hitouts but man, that Warriors midfield was on fire...
