They had 43 points in Round 18.

Gone are Hutchison (-3), Grollo (-3) and Rennex (-1).

Eight other players will drop a point.

So that puts them at 28.

Coming in

Keath (6)
Dessent (3)
Tait (3)
Grima (3)
Cooper (3)
Flanigan (3)

Puts them at 49 so well over

Counting on injuries otherwise somebody is getting dropped.

Won’t mention salary cap as they clearly don’t have one

9 players from that side will come out freeing up 19 player points.
Plus 6 players dropping points
Plus 3 points spare.
If my calculations are correct that’s 28 points for nine players.
Yep, it’s tight but not impossible. Still have room for a Ben Reid type to be involved for example.

If they can’t fit players in with points they’ll have to play s. It’s happened, Xavier Richard’s signed with Balwyn in [emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] he played the majority of the year in the s because of points

I get what you’re saying. You said a “few big names” will be playing in the reserves each week. I asked for you to name two.
So, Utah, give me two?

Absolute boon for both EB and the competition to get a player of Keath's calibre on board. Even more impressive when you consider he'd be a one pointer at both OMs and Shepp bears, two of the best resourced clubs in the state.
Hutchison out does hurt a bit, but he is almost surplus to their needs given they have so many midfielders already.
If you look at their R18 team from last year, as mentioned above they have 43 points.
10 one pointers (sans rennex) + K Love Linay, D Joyce-Lawford and T Head = 9 players for 33 points.
Downie, Corp, Forrest, Harris and Bennett are all 2 pointers and best 22 players
Keath @ 6, Reid @ 3, Grima @ 3, Cooper @ 3, Dessent @ 3 are all walk up starters when available
So that's 23 players for 41 points, which gives them plenty of room to play with.
Personally don't think Tait (another ruckman) is needed as Taberner is an above average ruck in D1 and young Sonny Moore is a very exciting albeit raw prospect who is a good second ruck.
Ball use out of defence and forward pressure are the only potential Achilles heels I can see as a neutral observer but they have had a bloody good offseason, with the spine now looking as strong as anyone in the competition.

Got to dip the hats to the vampires from a neutral supporter point of view. The ability to attract top end talent is on par with the Dingleys and Cheltenhams of recent times just got to think that the current committee have a long term goal in mind. No use doing a 1 year all in and fall off a cliff

Defensive end skill level / decision making needs to be improved ten-fold from the 2 games I viewed. Was on the very poor end of the scale throughout the competition and if they dont improve it won’t matter who they have forward / midfield the competition is so even they will be hurt on the scoreboard

I for one will endeavour to get to a few more vampires games now with the recruits between getting to the EFL top end games and MPNFL.

Having viewed most top end competition finals series , southern is most definitely on the up. Looking across the board of clubs recruiting

Anyone on hear know much of Narre / chelt incomings? Dogs dingoes Springy big off seasons

Tait is average played alot of bonbeach 2s last year couldn’t hold his spot in a average 1s team Jewell could work his magic on him but with lamb Corp and potentially keath can’t see them playing another tall who is a goal threat like the others

Way too early ladder predictions

1.Cheltenham, no real reports out of chelt except their but you have to assume Lai will be at port SANFL and not sure what Dunnell or a few of their other older players are doing and they have lost a few fringe players but a 3 peat is a mighty task but until they are beaten they deserve to be the favourites.

2. Dingley, with the addition of Mullen, Duscher, McCartney, Sulter and Ferraro they are right at the top of everyone’s lists but loosing TDL and maybe Lewis to VFL? With the age of their list and being extremely well coached. They will still be right there at the pointy end.

Flip a coin on (3-6)

3. East Brighton, after consolidating themselves in 24 they’ve now added some serious players and could push higher on the list but loosing semmel, Rennex, Cale love Linay and Hutchinson hurts but they still have have a good ruck in tabbaner, dessent Cochrane downie and the other love Linay with lamb Corp forward and Keath Campazano down back they are old but primed to make a deep finals run if healthy.

4. St Paul’s, have lost a couple this off season but seem to have added a few decent players, there 2s struggle and with some older blokes it could be an interesting year for the dogs .

5.Springvale, added the Noble 3 but lost Arms and Walker to Edi -Asp, well coached and a good list but not exactly the baby bombers running around

6. Narree Warren, coming in as a power house but don’t recruit a huge amount and first year into the league there is always a lot of unknowns

(Throw a blanket over 7-10)
7. Port Colts, always will have 3-5 absolute A graders but depth and youth is always an issue but if all their stars are healthy they can beat anyone

8. Murrumbeena, very strong club winning (1st,2nd,3rd & 19s) last season similar to EB winning 1s and 2s the year before which probably shows they will have enough depth and youth for D1 but they have lost Todd Elton and Wade Lees, even though they are older they would help win games in D1 . They have added some very quality players in Minchin and Scollo but D1 is a bit jump. I wouldn’t be surprised if beena make finals or finish last .

9. Cranbourne, new coach at a big strong club but have lost their best forward Ty and their recruits seem to be okay but very reliant on a handful

10. Bentleigh have been putting a lot of effort into their 19s for years and their reserves looked very young so if their youth can step up and deliver on their promise they’ll be fine but loosing fasolous and buffalo hurts while adding a few country players and fringe de La players not sure if that covers the loss.

That’s what Cranbourne said when they joined the SFNL, next opportunity they got they were applying for the MPFNL again.

In any case it was always a draw because it was better footy, I’m not sure that’s the case any more - Southern stacks up now.
