All valid points.

Caulfield will be interesting. Haven't lost much, but points are an issue without 19s coming through. Dunn to have a proper season if he doesn't re injured his ACL will help.

HP have well and truelly replaced what they lost and more so they will be very strong.

East Malvern I agree the culture isn't great, but money and connections are helping solve that haha.

Frankston is an interesting one. Strong football corridor, and up and coming club with goals of being in the MPNFL. They will be a strong chance of making finals I reckon.

Doveton seem to slowly be trying to replace.the players they've lost. Hall coming in from Rowville will help that no doubt.

Yep agree with what you say on all that but not sure on hall helping Doveton much he played 1 reserve game last year and didn’t play the year before that and was a handy player at Rowville but after basically not playing for a couple of years it will be hard for him to comeback and play as good as most premier division efnl would be in div 2 sfl but i could be wrong and spot on with Caulfield with points finished 5 and probably had the most points for players during finals makes it hard and takes really good selective recruiting to get around that to improve

East Malvern. Hp. Chelsea heights Doveton. Frankston. Mordialloc. Caulfield. E/ hills. Keysy. Highett
We have seen the almighty $$$$ have a big effect in winning flags in this division over the past couple of years so with this in mind my early tip is East Malvern.

East Malvern
Hampton Park
Chelsea Hts
Frankston (club on the rise)
Doveton (will drop off a little)
Caulfield
Mordialloc
Endeavour Hills
Highett
Keysborough

I think this division you can definitely see.the difference in what clubs pay.

With a 85k salary cap, id imagine there's only roughly 3 teams that would be paying that. East Malvern, Hampton Park and maybe doveton.

Mordi would be paying close I reckon purely because of the amount of recruiting they've done. But every other team would be paying maybe 50k I'd imagine. Huge difference. But with the big jump that there is from div 2 to div 1 now you really need to be able to afford the salary cap or have an amazing junior club to compensate for the lack of money and get.them through a 19s program

Salary cap is 100k. Every team is close to it, points, recruiting, it’s all in proportion. The u19’s has an input but the footy quality dismal, most are reserves players. Mordi recruited a lot of old club players, who are having a stab at one last flag, can’t be paying much.

In terms of culture at East Malvern, I don’t think u can just call it bad of there top players shopping themselves around. One is the best ff in southern footy, and their other is a very good midfielder, valid to take calls from recruiters. I can guarantee there’s top liners at other clubs answering and entertaining other clubs regardless of how interested there are, young kids love a pump up. You can’t call it a bad culture, there’s 22 blokes on a team, not 2.

Realistically how many teams do you think would be close to spending $100k? I could probably only say 3 or 4 maximum. No chance Caulfield, endeavour, keysy would be close to that.

All clubs give their rough budget to the league before round one. I heard the lowest club budget was 60k. Make of that what you will.

So if your club can spend the cap without crippling it , why not
Not saying there's anything wrong with spending the cap. The clubs that can afford to do it are very fortunate, gives them a big advantage over the others which is obviously a big thumbs up to those clubs sponsorship departments.

Just obviously tougher than ever to get sponsors and money out of them due to how hard it is for businesses coming out of covid. Think this just makes it more important than ever to put big time and effort into junior pathways and sustainable under 19s teams.

Half the 2s brag about not paying subs so I think they will always struggle to bring players in when they can’t get subs paid for

That’s the difference the clubs that have coin wouldn’t do that, they are run like a business, like it or not they have to or they will struggle

Do they really brag about not paying fees? That's insane if they do and so wrong. That's how clubs will end up folding. Agree with the above comment that footy clubs essentially do need to be run like businesses because so much money has to be pumped through them to stay afloat

Not surprising. Especially after choking 3 years in a row they'd want to go play 3s and chase an easy flag... shocking club
