Take it and have your opinion as you will grandad. If you want to just call it unlucky, that's fine.

The facts are as follows.

  • He didn't play in his U17 year
  • He played 1 game of his U18 year before injuring his meniscus, it was diagnosed as a shorter term injury but for whatever reason took him longer to come back from it and play 2 games at the end.
  • West Coast draft him knowing he's played 2-3 games over the past 24 months.
  • Gets injured in his first practice match for West Coast. Misses an entire season
  • Second season there's doubts about his revovery from the lingering ankle injury right up until round 1.
  • Plays 3 games and is injured again. This time with an MCL.

For a total of... 7 games (if you include the practice game he died in) in 3, now going on 4 years.

It'll be interesting to see how his recovery goes and if the 4-8 week timeline gets blown out with how he starts his fitness build again, given he's already playing catchup up with that.

So getting his leg trapped under an opponent wasn’t unlucky

Gotcha

This is all pretty fair imo, some people are just more injury prone. Sure you can say his injury from the weekend was mostly bad luck but the fact does remain that this guy has yet to prove he can actually stay on the park.

Only one more day until we find out the real identities of the unnamed two.

Has this actually been proven anywhere?

I highly doubt it's a free kick, it would simply be a chat to the interchange stewards saying we are players down and then it would be known to umpires we won't have 6 in an area. We aren't at an advantage and have a 7th player anywhere, it's not gonna be a free kick.
We copped a free kick against for a 666 infraction in the 4th quarter. I assumed that was because we were a man short (I was watching at the pub and didn't hear what the commentators said).

You still think we are an 8th to 10th side ?

We were beaten by last years spooners , then beat GWS who finished 3rd bottom but lost 3 out 4 quarters then we were down when we got our first injury vs freo who are in horrible form with one of the worst forward lines in the league.

Even if we kept our seniors on the park we wouldn't have won more than 5 or 6 games IMO leaving us bottom 4
Bulldust - we would have pumped Freo by at least 5 goals of our players didn't go down. Hell, we nearly got them without a bloody bench.

Off current form I'd have us knocking on the 8 if we could keep our best 22 on the park. That's clearly not going to happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if we still win 6-8 games this year.

Yes, clearly this is Chesser’s fault and not unlucky at all.

Anyone else would have just bounced up as if nothing had happened after an opponent fell across their knee when the leg was at an awkward angle and trapped underneath

Recruiters should have foreseen this as inevitable and not drafted him
Always against bloody Freo too!! Maybe he should skip the next derby

I do think that Chesser was inviting trouble with the way he approached that ball leg first, but again it iss just another sign that he just hasn't played enough footy over the past few years. He probably needs an extended run in the WAFL when he is fit again, just for confidence.

Almost as if players in a contact sport can suffer injuries fairly regularly.

I find it more crazy that there's fossils on here that despite being footy fans presumably for a long period of time, literally cannot wrap there noodles around the fact there are such things as injury prone players.

It's all just luck apparently.

I look forward to your doctoral study on why some players are genetically predisposed to suffer injuries in unrelated areas.

Is this legit?

Why did we even draft him ...

I've often wondered why when I watch him he seems very much not attuned to the speed of the game. Now it makes complete sense.

Simmo let it slip that there will be 7 forced changes on 6PR, having watched the last quarter my guess is Ginbey. He seemed to come off for a while and get a rub down as Simmo was patting him on the back.

It makes sense they will hide this injury as it’s so deflating to the fan base.

Hiding stuff for 2-3 days is juvenile.

They were pumping senior games into him to get him back up to speed in terms of match fitness. Who knows whether he will continue to be unlucky injury wise or he will be back playing WAFL for a bit post recovery. One or more of Clark, LEdwards and Xon probably will get a look at some point.
