Id say chesser would be available for selection by round 8. They said shuey and jamo will do their change of direction and football progression this week, allowing them to hopefully fully train next week putting hand up for selection for round 6. They then said chesser will progress to change of direction and football drills next week, so effectively a week behind shuey and jamo, although different injuries (could be as early as round 7). Given his injury history i’d say they take the conservative route and should be ready to play by round 8/9

It’s possible the new training centre is built on an ancient Indian burial ground.

Would explain Perth’s woes over the years.
More like its built on an old carpark with how hard the training ground is .

Add that to optus being hard as a rock and all our injuries make sense.

Assuming Edwards, Witherden and Sheed get through their fitness tests and there’s no mystery injuries revealed at selection we should have 35 players available - an increase of 3 from last week
+Foley returning from suspension

The Achilles injury recovery period depends on what the injury actually is.

If it’s a full rupture, then 6-12 months is the appropriate timeframe for a professional athlete with full time medical care.

If it’s a strain, or just pain/inflammation, the recovery is not as long as the full year, but can be frustratingly slow.

I assume it’s the latter given the lack of surgery.

In any case, it’s an absolutely shocking injury the Achilles rupture. I’m 18 months post surgery and nowhere near full fitness, and probably never will be. Enough to keep up with my 4 year old for now though.

A good friend of mine fully ruptured an achilles 16 years ago. He's about 15 years younger than me and was a very good sportsman (from England) and even made Liverpool's youth teams before not quite making the cut (****ing scouser) and his has never been right. Like you I would assume, he was laid up for about 8 months completely and then did lots of rehab to get it ok for everyday life.

But even playing table tennis or a kick around the park even a decade ago he still had to manage it just with that. (still managed to play indoor soccer on a tuesday night most weeks) Some days it would be tight and painful and he would swear if he tried to run or anything similar it would ping again, to the point he was terrified of it happening. As it stands now all sport is off the table and he still has pain and tightness with it. Bastard of an injury, I wish you the best of luck with yours.

Positive: so far this year, we appear to be avoiding the "mystery midweek injury" that has plagued the club

You know, the one where a guy runs out the game, trains early in the week unhindered, and then by the time the teams come out on Thursday he is ruled out for 4-6 weeks

At least that's something!

If we get one of those this week it’s because of this post😂

Thanks for the best wishes.

I feel for your friend and can certainly relate. If I lay down for a bit on the couch, or get out of bed, the leg is definitely tight for sure. I’m constantly terrified when I go for a run, or do calf raises at the gym (DS style), I will rerupture my repaired tendon, or snap my other ‘good one’.

I had a >3 cm gap between the two ends of my ruptured tendon, which was a record at Charlie’s, or so says the ultrasound technician.

I’ve been ‘running’ (still impeded gait) for about 10 months now, and just got back into tennis (the reason I snapped it originally), but have drastically reduced mobility.

I’ll keep up the rehab, so I can run around and kick the footy with my kids.

Back on topic - hopefully we can see Nic again. Unfortunately, he’ll unlikely have that explosiveness anymore.

Chesser’s injury history pre draft (that I can find) :

• Meniscus in his 2nd nab league game of 2021. Returned to play last two games of that season
• End list
I looked it up too because I swore there was discussion of him being injured more than once pre-draft in the commentary around the draft.

According to a Sandringham Dragons article, he injured his knee in May,
and then came back in July to play managed minutes for Vic Country and then reinjured/aggravated it again in his third NAB League match.

So it was presumably a 2 month rehab, reinjured, and then lockdown five or six snuffed out any chance of returning again in 2021.

Ergo he is injury prone, DS was unfairly treated, and both you and Miguel should delete your accounts

Flare up of the same injury doesn’t count as two injuries.

Ergo, not necessarily injury prone. At least not on pre-draft evidence

Give DS a cuddle for us

Sounds like a routine double-deleter then.

Doesn't really sound much different to Wardlaw rushing back from a hammy just to ping the hammy again. Young bucks want to test themselves against the pack and get exposure to get drafted, and drafted highly. I would really question the medical guidance in that age bracket.

Which is not to say he isn't injury prone, but on pre-draft exposure it's not at all conclusive that he is.

Mentioned this on Sunday night:

Just a bit more worrying news I heard on 6PR after the game.

Apparently Tom Cole came off the ground about 5 or so minutes from the final siren, went into the rooms, came back onto the bench with the outside of his ankle iced and looked extremely dejected on the bench. "Head in hands". Ground reporter speculated that where the ice was placed indicated another syndesmosis problem.

Of course absolutely no mention on this week's official injury report.

Club keep treating our fans like mushrooms week after week. Pathetic.

It's a bit frustrating but maybe they do it to protect the player while they come to grips with the injury.

Cole had a pretty serious injury, so it's not a shock that there might be flare-ups along the way back. Hopefully it's minor and we see him back in a few weeks. In the meantime, we might get another look at Foley to help us make the decision on keeping him or not.

He had a sore ankle, he wasn’t dismembered and found facedown in a gutter.

Really?? protecting the player because of an ankle injury? ..

Anyway latest
