ughhhhhhagljknjsnn acres. At least those are two good ins but gosh that kid needs a string of games.

On the bright side look at how hard it is to fit people into our side. Not to mention we have highly rated prospects in the wings (gresh, goddard, dmac). Plus Freeman and carlisle are yet to come into calculations. Delicious.

I wonder what pick we'll get for Acres :(

Jeez, I hope it doesn't come to that!

Richo is supposed to be an amazing man-manager who apparently talks to every player on the list every week around selection day, so hopefully he's able to make it more palatable when he has to drop players.

Richo has been getting some pretty good media lately, with many putting the fact that Port is battling down to Richo's leaving them. So I guess we just have to trust him no matter how much we hate certain players being omitted.

Jwebb and Lukey played two of their best games against the Pies, had to come straight back in. Hate to see Acres out but it was always gonna be a tough call.
Acres just needs a Propper shot ! Has had moments of brilliance in the midfield then when he does something good they move him out of the mid or take him off the field which I have seen happen constantly ( giving everyone the impression he goes missing during quarters ) don't think he's even played much more than half s game and still pulls stats better than other guys playing full games ! Has me baffled why they do this to him ! Guess he'll shine when the club decide to let him! hang in there Blacres don't get homesick

I love the way he's progressing but his disposal is still a bit messy but I love his endeavour. He's ahead of where I thought he'd be at the end of last year so I'm not to worried unless they stop rewarding his good VFL form.

He'll get his chance, much like Minchington, just have to bide your time and wait for a spot to open up and then grab it with two hands. I think he'll be best 22 by the seasons end.

By the way, are you are Collingwood fan because you sound a bit like a Saints fan to me?

Only problem with your point is that he CAN'T play strongly for 4 quarters at AFL level if he keeps getting dropped.
It’s a bit hard to play strong for 4 quarters when you are playing only 57% of the game which equates to roughly 3 quarters of game time and play 3 different positions in the game. How do the players like Acres, Eli and Membrey compete against the players who are in the top 22 when they play anywhere from 68% to 98% of game time in the one position? Look as if the guys in the VFL team have to wait for injuries or retirement before they get another chance( could be the whole season in some cases) This can lead to players requesting trades to go home or to a different teams so they can get opportunity to play. Remember reading somewhere that the main reason players request a trade is not money but to get opportunity to play. It's a tough position for the club to be in and to maintain the players desire to stay but I think it's harder on the players who aren't in the top 22.

Been a while since anyone has asked To be traded from us so we must be doing something right.

I think we're just going for the Hawthorn model at present, ie: just play the best 22 available all week, let the others continue to develop in the 2s until they are banging down the door & demanding a senior game. I'd only bring them in for injuries & obviously omitted players after very poor games.

Hardly any big deal. Blake goes back and works on his weak areas.

Blake didn't show anything special so he goes out. The people picked in the role are currently in better form and doing more than him.

I get that we want Acres to get extended game time but who comes out instead this week? Just don't see any other options this week and the reality is if Blake wants to be in the team (which obviously he does) he needs to play better than others which he just hasn't done so far.

It's a dilemma for sure.

I shudder to think how we're going to fit in all these FAs, OOCs, surplus GWSs and early draft picks over the next couple of years

The article from the club website goes with Dunstan in the headline, so you would think his place is assured.

There's a funny little typo in the article:

"Young midfielder Eli Templeton has both been omitted after coming in for the second game of his campaign at Aurora Stadium last weekend, with the 25-man squad to be trimmed on Friday afternoon to the final 22."

So obviously someone else is marked for ommission and they're holding off pulling the trigger just yet.

Or Eli Templeton is two people, like Brangelina or those other names people have for celebrity marriages.

Eli by day.

Ellen by night.
