Announcement: Swans YouTube Channel
So thanks to the awesome Kennedy Parker you will notice a sticky post at the top of the pages now. This link will take you directly to the Swans YouTube channel which features interviews etc.

Brandon Jack on SEN now

Charlie Gardiner updates on families of Swans joining them. Urgh. Won't allow me to directly link to video, just scroll down a bit until you find the video of them, and training at Lakeside Oval.

If we are suffering severe salary cap trouble, we obviously have a number of players who are being paid more than they should.

You become a free agent after 8 years. A restricted free agent is one who is in the top 25% of your paid players. So, therefore, Hewitt is earning more than Parker. Surprising.
I’m not sure you’ve reached the right conclusion there. An unrestricted free agent is also someone who has spent 10 years at the club, regardless of how much they earn.
Parker therefore could be on more than Hewett as the 25% qualifier to be restricted doesn’t relate to a player who has served 10 years at the club.

TV - free to air and subscription, radio, web and print has few ex Swans voices in the media. The mainstream is dominated by ex Weasels and Pav in WA, Cornes snr and jnr in SA and in Victoria it is full to the brim with ex Vic players.

The narratives rarely favour us or the other Qld or NSW Clubs. John Brown is a bit of an exception.

This season has been a little different for us as the Bloods have been one of the good news stories of the season. The mainstream however just waits to pounce whether about the Academy, our cap or whether Buddy should get 6 weeks for sneezing.

Jude Bolton has a side line comments job at 7. Brandon Jack and the first Ablett to win a Premiership write the occasional thoughtful article. Fitzy has gigs in radio and Fox. Don't know if Cordy still has a print gig in Sydney.

In this climate, it has been wonderful to watch the rise of Tony Armstrong in 2021. The bloke is erudite about sport and witty to boot. His appointment to ABC brekky TV has been celebrated. Many ex players, despite heaps of media training remain clunky in front of a camera or mike.

Anyway the guy who looks like he could play D'Artagnan in a Three Musketeers Movie has just picked up another gig. This time it is on Fox. Not sure yet what the gig involves.

By the way Brandon Jack is gunna be interviewed by Lyon and Watson on SEN this morning.

Long story, I know.
Armstrong will appear on the Saturday Stretch this weekend replacing Brad Johnson.

Thanks for that. I wasn't aware of the 10 year ruling obviously.

27JUL21: Jarrad McVeigh interview/SEN
Missed this interview when it first appeared (before the Bombers game was moved) - but I really like the interviews Cornes does, and you can tell he admires the team.

how good is that Injury report!
Heeney bumped his thumb but is fine
Afl and Vfl played last Sunday and everyones fine
Warner played and ran 10kms and will be fine to play a full game this weekend
Naismith the poor bugger

Nah nah nah, I have it on good authority from people on this board that the fact that we let anyome get injured is an indictment on our doctors, should be sacked the lot of them

Fair to say that we are overpaying a number of players.
Bud's contract next year is as low as it has been for the nine years - around $900K. We should have no-one else near that amount.
Richmond have Dusty on $1.1M and Lynch on at least $900K. They have won 3 premierships in the past 4 years and we have finished 15th & 16th in the past two years. Yet they seem to have no cap issues.
I seriously can't figure it out.

Once again, no one knows if we actually have salary cap issues at all.

Like I asked when this first came up, how do you have a salary cap issue when No1 atm knows what the salary cap is next year?

Most likely the salary cap floor.

Hopefully we are hovering around the minimum 90% mark.

Longmire discussion, just a sound bite but its nice he's getting the respect he deserves I think
