I've been warming to Grundy lately because he's a funny fella. Reminds me a bit of Sinclair.
I was worried he would be an entitled pri#@# (based on zero research).
The guy looks like a real club man, fitting in beautifully. I think he will be a massive in for us and the midfield will rise around him.

It didn't for me :(
I'll try my best to summise the article:

Beatson said discussions with the out of contract players will ramp up closer to the season, no indication thus far that the players in question are unhappy.

Emphasized we have a lot of players who are secured away.

Team's potential a real selling point to the young players (used Blakey's seven-year contract as an example.)

Swans are cautious about long-term contracts and will use early season form as a guide.

All the new draftees and recruits have impressed (shocking!) Green in particular has had the coaches convinced there's something to work with.

Mass list changes meant we had salary cap space to use, which we did in the trade period.

Jordon was a Swans supporter growing up and we really rated him as a junior.

A bit more to the Green one 88 , they are very impressed and say he's about 85kg and will need to get to around 100 kg

On first impressions Taylor Adams and him seem a lot more media savvy than our own players.

I wonder if that's due to all the media exposure and training they got at Collingwood? Whereas our players had relative anonymity and didn't need any training at all.

Because for me, it's these little clickbaity things that Grundy and Taylor Adams are doing that generates interest in our club and increases memberships. In my opinion anyway.

I think you are spot on.

But I don't think players at clubs like Collingwood etc. are "trained" to deal with and even capitalise on media exposure, but rather they simply learn to either embrace it or not because they have no choice. It just comes with being a footy player in Melbourne so you can either try to resist it or you can try and work it to your advantage.

I posted a rather lengthy rant about this topic here: Autopsy - 2024 and Beyond
