Article from Cam Mooney about the sustained success of The Cats and The Swans.. Mooney being a cats player clearly talks more about the Cats, but shows absolute respect for the Swans..

Another aspect (that wasn't spoken about) of sustained success for the Swans and maybe Geelong too.?. is success at the rookie draft.
Paps, Cunningham, Rampe, McLean, Amartey, Fox, Wicks, Lloyd.. were all picked up in the rookie draft - pretty impressive by the recruiters, the coaches and those players

i like that we reduced mooney to tears in that mighty 2005 semi-final comeback win ... and in fact it seemed he was already in tears when the camera found him seconds after the siren, so he'd probably been weeping from the moment davis kicked that freak fourth goal
goddamn i love that memory!

Without wanting to whinge.. Im a bit sick of hearing King say that Scott is the best coach. Ive heard that now at least 20 times this year. Not only do I disagree with him but its bloody annoying hearing him push that opinion/agenda soo much. Its a bit like the old adage 'If you going to lie, make it a big one and tell it a lot'

Tagging - another thing that King bangs on about..
Does he know that over the last few years, the Swans have tagged intercepting defenders (using Hayward), tagged rebounding defenders (Hayward, Clarke, Jordon) and tagged inside mids?
Is King aware that only two games ago Jordon tagged Walsh, and, Rowbottom played on Cripps (kind of a half tag) and the Swans won by over 50 points?

I look forward to the day that King watches the Swans game (apparently this weekend) and recognises just how much better a coach Horse is.

Swans by 50

ps.. Horse and the Swans coaches have been ahead of the game in many aspects for years.. now they have the players old enough, experienced enough, smart enough and talented enough to play multiple positions, make decisions in game and have elite running and kicking abilities allowing to execute a winning game plan
And I would add Fast Enough

Yours in speed, JHWF

From the link below - "Sydney midfielder Justin McInerney knows if they underestimate Geelong, his high-flying Swans could land in all sorts of trouble."

High Flying Swans wary of Cat-astrophe

Ultimate success front of mind for new Swan Taylor Adams to erase Pies flag pain

10am on SEN On this sporting life had an hour with our champion John Rantall . Talks about the apple hitting the ball at Geelong as he was on the mark. Gave his reasons for leaving to go to North then back to us. Also a fair bit on the bitterness that went on with the move to Sydney , as he was appointed coach .
Hope someone can get it up as it explains what a basket case we were

Swans in midst of once in 100 season

Paywalled articles:

From The Tackle:

1. THE REINCARNATION OF THE BIG SWAN

Brodie Grundy has enhanced his reputation in Sydney. He was a great player at Collingwood, disregarded at Melbourne and now is central to a profile which has Sydney clear favourites for the premiership. There’s no doubt ruckmen get better with age. The wisdom and craft is developed over a decade and at 30 years of age, Grundy has never been more influential. The Swans were a pre-season possibility. They are now a mid-season juggernaut. They gave up the first six goals on Sunday and kicked 16 goals to Geelong’s six over the next three quarters. Grundy finished with 25 disposals, 21 contested possessions, 11 score involvements and 35 hit outs. Of the hit outs, 13 were to advantage. Ask Gulden, Heeney and Warner, who are the most damaging trio of midfielders in the competition, what they think of Grundy. Ask Geelong about the influence of Grundy on Sunday. The clearance count was 43-30 to Sydney and combined with a contested ball differential of +19 after quarter-time, the Swans knocked down another contender. Who’s next to challenge them?

Don't bother asking Scott.

Must be good for say Mccartin, Hamling and Kirk both in the VFL, where as Grundy has Heeney and Adams throwing their clothes and crap over his locker space.

Probably why Lloyd likes 44

Thanks Ticky009, enjoyable reading.

Some excerpts from the various articles;

'Unstoppable Sydney Swans',
'...an imposing victory from the untouchable top team over another contender',
'The Swans have now won all six of their matches at the SCG by an average of 36 points this season as they turn their home into a fortress',
'Super Swans reign supreme',
'Swans run rampant'.

Going OK. :)

Absolutely loved this in the Stocks Up Stocks Down article......

Stocks down: The premiership hopes of 17 teams have taken a serious hit. The Swans continue to prove they aren't just the team to beat for the flag in 2024, they're miles ahead of the chasing pack. If someone is to upset John Longmire's squad, it's going to take something pretty special.
