For mind, It wasn't that it was biased.. more just lazy journalism.

Whether hes right or wrong, only time will tell. A more insightful commentary may sound something like...
  • Acknowledgment of the injury list in 2023 - Horse said "at one stage we had injuries to 12 KPPs" "2nd worst injury list behind West Coast"
  • Acknowledgement of our youth. Players like Warner, Gulden, Campbell, Logan, Amartey, JMac, Rowbottom, Tom Mac, McLean, Florent, Hayward etc are all TWO years older than hey were when they made the grandfinal
  • Acknowledgement of how the extra experience and 'hardness' (that comes with age) should improve our midfield and clearance issues
  • The trading in of a quality ruck and inside mid will also improve of midfield issues.
  • Yes Budy has retired, but would be nice to acknowledge that Logan, Mclean & Amartey performed better when Buddy was not playing last year. The Swans also have depth in Reid and a young guy that kicked 5 goals in VFL practice match on the weekend in Buller
  • The talls down back may be an issue??? The Swans have more depth than before, but the quality of that depth is to be determined.
  • Maybe acknowledge the depth in the squad which was showcased last thursday by the reserves flogging GWS 131 to 12. Also showcased by the fact that not one our draftees over the last three years can break into the team.
  • Its their 150th birthday and they will be primed for a big year.
Gary Lyon = top 4, Cornes = top 4, Tim Watson = top 4, Buckley = top 4
Montagna = somewhere around 8th with a bunch of other teams (LAZY prediction)

Most other commentators have spoken about all these factors.. Not hard

great post

Our first 6 games are against quality opposition and after that I think we'll have a better idea how we might end up.
I disagree.
Melbourne are in all sorts and have not much of a forward line. We'll never get a better run at them.
The Pies will be a heck of an assignment at the G but after that:
Essendon, Richmond, WCE, GCS and Hawthorn, all of whom we should beat if we're for real. Then we meet GWS in Rd 8.
I'll be disappointed if we're worse than 6-1 at that point.
There are tougher runs mid season and on the way home.

I actually expect us to be 8-0. We will have such a lead as minor premiers we can go on intensive training programs a few weeks from finals and rotate the squad a bit.

I'm not sure what to say. I didn't count the goals but I was there and I checked the scoreboard at the end of the match. My recollection was it said 15 goals to 1. I remember checking whether the Giants had scored 1 or 2 goals (because they had scored an even 12 points - although if I had thought about it I would have realised that of course they had scored some behinds). It's possible that in the sunny conditions the electronic numbers didn't stand out and that I didn't read the it properly. Or maybe the scoreboard was wrong.

The Swans website refers to a 119 point victory and cites the Insta post of swans_reserves. I think it's possible that swans_reserves has made a mistake and that the media team just blindly relied on that. We're talking a 5 goal difference and given it was only 3 shorter than average periods I just don't think it was that much of a smashing.

Turns out SGBeach that you are right and I was definitively mistaken (not about the score after three periods but about the match ending then).

Adnico26Parker clarified in the reserves thread that there was an additional quarter and the score concluded as you and swans_reserves quoted. I feel like a goose declaring I saw the end of the match. I actually imagined I saw them shaking hands but I think that was just them mingling as they walked to their huddles at 3/4 time and me filling in the extra details because I was expecting the match to finish then. 🤪

zero need to feel like a goose because you certainly are not.

Getting reports from training and at the ground 8s absolute gold and much appreciated by everyone.

"Adams will likely get the first shot at filling in for Parker after sitting out last week’s game against the Giants.

However, the exciting option could be to throw Angus Sheldrick straight into the mix."

I wasn't stoked liked some when we traded Adams.. Thought he would take a spot for players like Gus or Corey Warner etc.. But with medium to long term to both Mills and Parker, his trade is looking like a master piece
Thanks Kinnear

Sydney will turn to its midfield depth to cover for injured skipper Callum Mills and veteran Luke Parker

Do you remember Bob Hudson and "The Newcastle Song"?
"Don't you ever let a chance go by,
O Lord, don't you ever let a chance go by!"

Brodie Grundy makes an appearance here.

Speaking of Media. I have been trying to get the replay of the trial Match up on Watch AFL. They don't have it. They have about half the matches up, but not ours. I have contacted them and they have gotten back to me with the usual bull. We have been in contact with the department in charge of this area and have informed them of the issue. I am not saying they did not generate some sort of shite online to the techos but there has been no action. I say that because the match was on the Watch AFL channel three days ago. But never sent to Shows/specials replay. Still not there.

Is it the same with Kayo, which I can't access because I am out of the country?

Based on 2023 output Grundy is lucky to be there.
Probably, but I guess they've gone for their best form rather than recent form. Eg. Gawn's output last year due to injuries and such was a bit up and down, but everyone knows he's the best ruckman in the comp at his best.
