Its true. What he said.

People don't get it.
I do love how triggered other teams fans are when we make this statement. Like they full on froth and then provide endless stats and quotes on how its incorrect.

Latest "Inside Sydney" episode 5 just posted on official website. Such an improvement on previous years efforts from the team media dept. Simple idea, one person and one high quality camera, for interesting and entertaining results.

Whether they had the budget and resources and time before I don't know, but certainly better this pre-season.

Must’ve seen this forum

This is awesome. I really enjoyed no music in the video, so you can hear the players voices. Wonderful insight. Well done Swans media team. More of it please!

I really like that angle too. You can see what everyone's doing and how they're involved, albeit the play is mostly very scrappy as it's pre-season.

Would be good if we could see that kind of footage of the actual games.

The Swans it turns out were the only club with a gender pay gap in favour of women in both base and total pay in the pay gap transparency data released today:

1709016256101.png

They've published a statement on this noting that it's heavily skewed by AFLW players being pro-rated to full time equivalent per reporting requirements:

Our football club became whole with the introduction of our first AFLW Team in 2022. These talented female athletes now make up 19% of our total workforce and have significantly lifted the total number of women working at our club.

Their inclusion has also shifted the Gender Pay Gap which exists at our organisation. As explained by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA), the gender pay gap is the difference in average earnings between women and men in the workforce.

As can be seen in the data released by WGEA, the Sydney Swans have a modest median gender pay gap in favour of women. This result is heavily influenced by our reporting requirement to annualise the salaries of our part-time AFLW athletes into a full-time equivalent (1 FTE) figure.

It is worth noting the data that has been reported is the median, and therefore the middle value of our data, rather than the average.

We acknowledge that there remains a significant amount of work to do in closing the gender pay gap as our AFLW athletes transition from part-time to full-time employees over time. In the years ahead, we look forward to working with the AFL and AFLPA in supporting this transition.

More broadly, we remain committed to the delivery of our Diversity Action Plan (DAP), which includes the Advancement of Women pillar. This document can be viewed here.

Sometimes I wonder what bad weed the GWS Giants media team get smoking with the s**t they post. Glad I don't follow them.

They're widely viewed as having one of the best media departments in the competition and the Swans are clearly trying to go some way to emulate that this season, with much success.

I definitely love the vibe. No need for annoying music. I like how we can 'feel' the club in a way. Hear the chit chat and the ambient. The reality of it. The grit. Thank god the media team have learned less is more.

Yep,, thought the ground level vision of the praccy match and the audio was brilliant - agree with the sense of 'feel'

potato scollops all round haha

Rowbottom's highly rated on here. People just don't want him getting the ball and prefer a 7 gamer. But they really rate him!
Thats a very under handed swipe at my post .
For someone that posted that 'we should trade Rowbottom' (over 10 posts!)
thats a big turn around!
For someone that claims to be a midfield expert, even going as far as creating stats and naming them after your Avatar (Caesar - a man, likely sociopath, responsible for rape, murder and probably genocide!)
I thought you would understand the different roles within the midfield
For someone that has stated in posts regarding the midfield that 'the whole is greater than the sum of its parts' - which I 100% agree with
I thought you would absolutely appreciate the defensive role that Rowbottom plays

Its not about Rowbottom not getting the ball and Sheldrick getting it, Its about Horse, the assistant coaches and the players determining what their strengths are and playing to their strengths
Buckley summed it up a few weeks ago perfectly. “They (Sydney) are an ego-less organization and they spread the load, they bring in people who are good at their jobs and they let them do what they're good at.

Rohan Connolly's on board as usual

Can't complain with those 6 at all based on last year and the trade period. Sides like Adelaide and St.Kilda might improve but nothing yet to suggest they'll be playing a prelim

If being the biggest club in the AFL revolves around membership, we will never be the equal of Collingwood, Carlton, Richmond etc. How can you possibly hope to have 100,000 members when you have a stadium that fits less than half that number?

Because membership numbers have never been intrinsically linked to how many people actually attend games? You can get non-attendance memberships, 3- and 5- game memberships, pet memberships etc. etc. They all count.
