Autopsy Sydney Legacy in Grand Finals continues 10 goal loss to the Lions

There's something that resonates with me in what you have said here.

150th year, celebrating our history. As a Melbourne member we started the year with a pre-season launch, open to all members, that was at capacity before most even saw the email having been sent during the work day.

The only other open event for the year was the Family day. The club had the whole ****ing season to plan it and the best they could do was a disjointed event in the forecourt of Marvel stadium that saw most miss out on meeting at least half the players. Despite having between 10 and 15k Victorian members, they claimed they were surprised when about 2,500 turned up to the event.

We're losing the heart in our club and becoming another soulless business.

This was absolutely a shitshow. Just an embarrassing effort by whoever put it together.

Do people not go to our victorian games and see how many swans fans turn up ? we turn up with similar numbers to the dogs, north, melbourne. we can have as many as st kilda and richmond given how bandwagony they have

do people not to see our fan days at other times ? We've been having hundreds and transformed it into thousands.

Seriously too where was a ****en gathering at lakeside oval or wherever yesterday.

So many swans fans aimlessly in town or the airport , give back.

They all get a nice overseas holiday and piss up monday,

The high point of the Grand Final was being up 13-1 in the 1st quarter lollll.

Sorry, just wanted to laugh this off for once.

Is this the biggest lead we've had in a John Longmire grand final?

Yes!
The private plane had me thinking at the time that Bondi billionaires were back.
Geez I hated that. Fagan just came a day earlier & mixed with the people.
Brissy had a private plane back . Got nothing to do with how we got here , it made sense

I hope more people will begin to agree with me when I say Horse needs to start giving a shit about clearances. He doesn't care about them as he wants to focus on the turnover game but in finals we get smashed in clearances and it makes it impossible for us to win.
We actually won the clearance count on Saturday.

Further to my bagging of a stale coaching panel which i have said for a long time , look what the Lions did , brought it Stewie Dew and also added Trent Cotchin and whether you like him or not he's a 3 time premiership player and would've brought in some different ideas . We have always been a club with jobs for the boys , even going back to blokes like Craig Holden !

Don't even know what to analyse, were barely competitive and didn't give ourselves a chance again. Top of the ladder seemed to be a good enough achievement for the group... allowed ourselves to become the hunted rather than playing like the hunter as we were early in the year. A competitive lose would've been stomachable....that was pathetic. Almost an exact repeat performance after a week of hearing how 'we're a different side now'.

Mental scars were on show early. Our defence shat the bed from the first minutes, even in the first when we were kind of in it their forwards had so much space. Blakey was horrible early, absolutely horrible as he was in 22.
We can't possibly win a flag without a stronger defence. All the KPD defenders on our list would be good No. 2's but desperately need a No.1, someone to build the thing around. Need a change of tactics at centre bounce, got the talent in there but too many walkouts are allowed.

Most of all though, we look mentally weak as hell. Don't know how you can fix that. Their kids showed more mental toughness than our senior players.
Optimism is low atm but history says getting flogged in a GF doesn't lead to a good follow up season....and even if we got back, don't know how the **** could you enjoy the next GF week or even just sitting top of the ladder in round 15.

All the 3 key forwards need big ****ing off seasons...one of them needs to be the 'guy' next year. Could make excuses for them this year.....but they'll have all played enough games and be at an age next year where there's no more excuses.
Of the three forwards, you say "one of them needs to be the man". I say "one of them needs to f.ck off".
This three key forwards worked about 4 games out of 26. It was dressed over by the fact that the midfield kept kicking goals.
We need a forward who can take a mark inside 50 on a regular basis. Not once every 7-8 weeks.

Hearing Dew might go to Melbourne , surely we speak to him !

See this I can accept but what I can’t is the refusal to address the thing that goes wrong all the time and to pretend it’s ok.

There’s no hindsight in this - people have been asking me for weeks how I thought we’d go and for weeks I’ve said I’m less confident in this team than any other team we’ve had in last 5 years. I thought last year we were a better chance of beating Carlton then Melbourne than winning it all this year.

There had just been too many times where we simply couldn’t win the ball, couldn’t defend and couldn’t stop it from bouncing out of the forward line. It’s been like this for weeks.

It’s the refusal to do anything about this for weeks that’s angered me about horse, he’s so stubborn that we trust the process that he’s just not adjusting to what is an obvious and repeated flaw.
Whilst we continue to play 3 key forwards who apply no pressure, the ball will continue to waltz out of our forward line. Longmire is too stubborn to accept this.

Could be just as simple as we've been the second best team in it the last few? 🤷‍♂️

Except for 2016. We all know what happened there.

Wasn't confident going into this one tbh. Our KPFs Vs their defense? In the end it wasn't a factor. We didn't get near the ball and when we did they'd figured us out. Coaching staff were soundly done as much as the players.
If ever we had a premiership handed to us before a ball was even bounced, this was it.
We faced a team that had to travel for the past two weeks and who had to fight to the last minute to get up in both those games. This is tiring,
Add to that, they were banged up. Neale couldn't even walk on Thursday. They had multiple others carrying injuries or a sore body at the least. Most importantly, they had to replace their premier ruck with a guy who had played 2 games this year.
On the other hand, we were well rested and had basically a full squad to choose from.
And we were supposedly the best team in the competition.
If we were not able to win this year, we are not likely to win until we have a completely new squad of players or a coach who has some idea of what is required to win a premiership because this one doesn't.
